SINISTER Director Scott Derrickson To Helm Adaptation Of DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION

SINISTER Director Scott Derrickson To Helm Adaptation Of DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION

The video game movie news just keeps coming. After yesterday's Splinter Cell announcement, next for the big screen treatment is the iconic, critically acclaimed sci-fi game Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Read on for details..

According to Deadline, CBS Films has signed Scott Derrickson to direct Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the screen adaptation of the brilliant Square Enix video game. Derrickson will co-write with his Sinister partner C. Robert Cargill (former AICN reporter 'Massawyrm'), with Roy Lee and Adrian Askarieh producing. “Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence,” says Derrickson. “By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie. Cargill and I can’t wait to bring it to the big screen.”

For those unfamiliar with the game, it's set in the near future where advances in human augmentation have given rise to a technological renaissance. Our hero is ex-SWAT security specialist Adam Jensen, who takes advantage of mechanical augments to unravel a global conspiracy.

Are we looking at a new era for video game adaptations - one in which they don't all suck? There have been some big, surprising names attaching themselves to these emovies recently. Michael Fassbender is set to star in Assassin's Creed, and only yesterday we heard that Tom Hardy might be up for the lead in Splinter Cell. I fully expect to hear Daniel Day Lewis has taken the Adam Jensen role any day now.

Sweet. I've played this game at a friend's house and it would make an awesome movie. I'm excited that we might get good video game movies, and a lot of them. I say bring it on!

keanu reeves or christian bale.. bale possible cause he can do his batman voice here LOL

The character was based off of Keanu, that would be the logical choice

Keanu Reeves please would be a good choice, even though his acting skills are the same in every role - his Neo approach is needed for this movie.

Not sure about the Director though - This is right up Ridley Scott's street, especially since the game has a heavy influence of Blade Runner.

Why do I remember this game receiving a very negative rating when it first came out? I'm talking under 7% at Gamespot, at least. But now, it's at 8.5? Wow, something is very strange here.

Played the game and Jensen to me reminded more combination of Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale.
If one of them plays the role in the big screen i wouldnt mind.

Its right in the alley of Ridley Scott but i think there is other director´s who can also pull it off. Not sure of Derrickson thou. Only movie ive seen from him is "The Day The Earth Stood Still" and i didnt really like that film.
Rian Johnson or Alfonso Cuaron would be interesting.
