Yeah JJ that'd be great if Disney didn't advertise it as a continuation of the Skywalker saga and get everyone hype for the return of said characters... If they had done them some Justice then I wouldn't care as much. You throw Luke and Han away, then keep Leia alive after what could've been a very fitting death for her at the beginning of TLJ...I think Han and Luke should be alive for RoS. It'd be much more emotional

@ThorArms - I'm not sure that makes sense

The prequel films were part of the Skywalker saga, but we only had Luke and Leia as babies. The story wasn't about them. It was about anakin
The original trilogy was about luke

These new movies are about Rey and Kylo. One is a Skywalker by blood, the other by spirit? We won't know her link until Dec 20th

But my point is, star wars is not about Luke, Han and Leia. The new movies didn't have to center around them. Plus, they're old.

Three trilogies. Three generations of Skywalker. Luke and Leia are the focus of the originals, Anakin is the focus of the prequels, and Kylo Ren is the focus of the sequels.

I legitimately don’t understand how or why that’s such a difficult concept for some people to grasp.

@MUTO123 - that's what I'm sayin'..

This is the ONE part of these movies they actually HAVE done correctly. Why would people want more leia/Luke and Han center of the conflict anyway?

@MUTO123 - Because most could care less about Kylo Ren, Poe, Rey and Fin. Just like nobody cared about Anakin and Padme.
Han, Luke, and Lea , Vader, C3P0 and R2D2 are what people wanted to see. And there was absolutely no reason not to continue on with their story, and very easily introduce new charters to carry on down the road from there.

@Vigor - Agreed. Honestly, LESS involvement from the OT leads would have given more room for development for the new characters. Leave Leia and Han out of it, have Luke show up when he did, reveal in Ep 8 that Kylo was Han and Leia's kid, play out the big finale. It could have been so dope.

That said, I've really enjoyed the first two films, and have high hopes for the third. Because I like to have fun at movies, not be mad at them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@kdav - uh yes they did. Rey poe Finn were the new characters . And they have continued the OT characters story , continued until the end of their story , you just don’t like the continuation you got

The had the incredible chance to get the Beatles back together, and instead chose to keep them apart, and frankly, destroy their characters and legacy in the process. If they would have made the first movie an adventure with the original characters and introduce the new characters into the mix, trusted and depended on by the original characters, they would have been much more accepted by the fans. Instead, we got the originals are irrelevant, here are your new amazing heroes. No.

@TheSaint - The Beatles got back together in 1995. It sucked.

Passing the torch is fine. Call me nuts though, the way they did it was dumb. They tried to force them down our throats when there was a preexisting connection to the previous cast. To me, the smart way to have done it would have been over the trilogy. Have a screen time split between old/new cast be roughly 70/30, 50/50, 30/70 with the kids taking the more prominent role in the finale when they had accrued a little bit of love. Then they could have milked them for 3 more films. Instead, all they did was foster a great deal of hate for the new cast and the execs behind this trilogy.
