THE PREDATOR Moves To Summer 2018, KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE Moves Up A Week

Along with their X-Men & Avatar sequels updates, 20th Century Fox has now announced new release dates for a number of their upcoming films, including The Predator & Kingsman 2!

Not only did 20th Century Fox announce the release dates for three X-Men films and four Avatar sequels yesterday, but they also updated their entire 2017/2018 calendar and made quite a few changes and additions across the board.

First up, Shane Black's The Predator has been moved off its February date and will now open on August 3, 2018, a prime summer weekend that has proven to be quite lucrative for potential franchise launching films in years past, namely Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 and Warner Bros.' Suicide Squad in 2016. It's now slated to open against an Untitled Disney live-action film and Columbia Pictures' Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly mystery comedy Holmes and Watson.

Next up is some good news as Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which will debut its first trailer tomorrow, will arrive one week early on September 22, a move made so it can likely avoid competition from Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049, which opens October 6.

As for the rest of their 2017 calendar, Kenneth Branagh's Murder on the Orient Express has been moved up two weeks to November 10 while Steven Spielberg's untitled Pentagon Papers drama, which will reportedly star Tom Hanks & Meryl Streep, has been slated for the Oscar-friendly date of December 22,

Looking ahead to 2018, Maze Runner: The Death Cure has been slotted into The Predator's old spot on February 9, 2018, the Jennifer Lawrence Russian spy drama Red Sparrow has been moved out of 2017 entirely and will now bow on March 2, 2018, and the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody will debut December 25, 2018.

In other release date news, after moving to September 22 last week, Universal Pictures has moved their upcoming Tom Cruise/Doug Liman biographical crime thriller American Made back to September 29.
