TRUE BLOOD Star Todd Lowe Reveals Details Of His Role In Shyamalan's AFTER EARTH

Actor Todd Lowe is best known for his role as Iraq War veteran Terry Bellefleur in HBO's popular vampire television series, True Blood. He will soon be seen in M. Night Shyamalan's next feature film, After Earth, alongside Will Smith and his son Jaden.

Todd Lowe's Terry Bellefleur is one of the few human voices in HBO's True Blood. Not that means he doesn't suffer from his fair share of issues, but in a show full of monsters his great one-liners help ground the show in some sort of reality. But for his next role he'll have a bit of a hard time finding the ground, here's why:
I worked a week on the M. Night Shyamalan movie After Earth. It's coming out next year – I guess it's gonna be a big Will Smith summer blockbuster. I had a scene with Will and his son Jaden, and we shot it in Philadelphia. It was the first time I've ever worked on a green screen, and I had a fantastic time. Will Smith is the biggest movie star I've ever met, and he couldn't be more gracious. I play a wounded veteran – but it's set years in the future, in space, and I'm in a levitating wheelchair.

In "After Earth," one thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity's escape from Earth, Nova Prime has become mankind's new home. Legendary General Cypher Raige (played by Will Smith) returns from an extended tour of duty to his estranged family, ready to be a father to his 13-year-old son, Kitai (played by Jaden Smith). When an asteroid storm damages Cypher and Kitai's craft, they crash-land on a now unfamiliar and dangerous Earth. As his father lies dying in the cockpit, Kitai must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon. His whole life, Kitai has wanted nothing more than to be a soldier like his father. Today, he gets his chance.

Let me guess: There's a twist in this
BrotherStarkofMABMindz - 8/19/2012, 2:14 PM
This might be good if Shyamalan does not try to hard
MartianSupermanhunter22 - 8/19/2012, 2:18 PM
Terry cracks me the [frick] up in true blood.
Vital - 8/19/2012, 2:22 PM
Cause he still has creativity, even if his last couple haven't done too well (Happening/Airbender/Lady in the Water). I'm a big fan of the movie Signs, I think it's creepy as [frick], even if the whole water thing is a tad silly, it's still a cool connection to the little girl's water glass phobia storyline. I like that.
DukeAcureds - 8/19/2012, 2:29 PM
Rob Lowe?
ABLEE337 - 8/19/2012, 2:30 PM
He should never be allowed to direct after Last Airbender.
SimyJo - 8/19/2012, 2:34 PM
The Smiths. Supporting nepotism in Hollywood since 1998.
Tao1 - 8/19/2012, 2:41 PM
this better be good
Tainted87 - 8/19/2012, 3:00 PM
Bullshit! God has horns.

Bandwagon bashing on Shyamalan...
He gave us Unbreakable, stop crying.
FightAs0ne - 8/19/2012, 3:06 PM
@Tainted87 He also gave us The Village, lady in the water, the happening, and the last airbender -__-

I honestly don't know how this guy is still making movies after the horrifying movie that was Last Airbender

CoolantTech - 8/19/2012, 3:08 PM
Will Smith will make sure this movie is at least decent, he'll just get on M. Nights ass if he see's him slacking like he did with the production of MIB3 so with that being said I'll give it a watch
Tainted87 - 8/19/2012, 3:11 PM
So maybe he's only good with original material. He has great ideas, some just don't work out. Lady in the Water wasn't nearly as bad as everyone claims, and I haven't seen the Happening, but yeah, I get that it looks awful at the least. Also, the Village was really good, I don't know what the fuss is about.
SoFresh - 8/19/2012, 3:25 PM
M. Night Shymaladingdong sucks

DaymanAHHAHAH - 8/19/2012, 3:43 PM

inky - 8/19/2012, 3:47 PM
you know so far everthng J.Smith has been in has flopped or been forgotten very quickly, if this fails i thnk will had better give his son a new job as acting is not it.
Bane2099 - 8/19/2012, 4:28 PM
Im saddened that such a crappy movie is gonna come out the day of my B-day next year
Bane2099 - 8/19/2012, 4:30 PM

I wouldnt be surprised if his acting career doesnt work out and Jadens next logical step is becoming a musical artist...he cant ride his parents coat tails forever :]
ZombieOverEasy - 8/19/2012, 5:32 PM
Thought Jaden was good in Karate Kid. I want to see this movie, don't have high hopes for it or anything. Probably wait for it to hit the cheap seats, for sure.
P862010 - 8/19/2012, 5:37 PM
best thing about this movie is it is not written by m night it was scripted by the writers of hurt locker and Traffic
Logan5 - 8/19/2012, 6:14 PM
So Shyamalan keeps getting work..., speaking of unnecessary rehashes: Karate Kid('10)is the ultimate example of a film that did not need to be made.

blackpanther25 - 8/19/2012, 6:17 PM
no movies from him please I never had faith in him ever since the tortured fame horror trilogy and who can forget the craptastic Avatat The Last Airbender I will pass
LunarLt - 8/19/2012, 7:07 PM

BubblesShedAndBreakfast - 8/19/2012, 7:24 PM
More non comic book movie news........ Hahaha I'm [frick]ing with ya! True bloods a good show lots of blood and boobs! As for Shalamalamalama his movies do nothing for me. But hey if I get bored and see this movie on Netflix in the future I might check it out.
AztecRainGod - 8/19/2012, 8:01 PM
M Knight is still in the bizz? Dude needs to call it a career, he has fallen very far.
MatioShack - 8/19/2012, 9:37 PM
The twist is that the planet they THOUGHT was the original Earth is actually the Planet of the Apes. See, that's a twist on a twist.
Vafrous - 8/19/2012, 10:24 PM
Jaden is a shit actor...
ScionStorm - 8/19/2012, 10:26 PM
Why is Shyamy still making movies?
almagro1991 - 8/19/2012, 11:14 PM

im new on this site so wassssssssaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

musashi - 8/20/2012, 1:20 AM
The twist is someone might actually pay to see this. The Last Airbender was a travesty to an amazing series. Poor Aang :-(
musashi - 8/20/2012, 1:21 AM
Maybe Korra will have better luck?
inky - 8/20/2012, 4:18 AM
@ Bane2099 yes i forgot will smith is a song and dance artist of sorts i personaly dont rate (C)rap music.
and even if that fails for him there is producing.
not all sons of famous fathers have talent or ability so many just live off their fathers reputation.
the story to this movie sounds good just the casting is about the worst since ishtar lol, and is it fair to be so negative before the movie is under way so to speak? well in young mr smiths case yes
HelaGood - 8/20/2012, 8:12 AM
i keep thinking the name of this movie is AFTER BIRTH
superpooper - 8/20/2012, 10:07 AM
I agree that I don't understand how M Night Shlammyman still get's to direct movies seeing how after The 6th Sense every film he's done has been more disappointing than the last. As far as J Smith, though, I feel the verdict is still out on what he'll become. Yes, he's had a few shots which too me weren't very disappointing at all, but he has some awfully huge shoes to fill with that mega over-achiever father of his. I'm sure that pressure can [frick] with the kid. Also, let's remember that W Smith was once the Fresh Prince. He wasn't always the greatest actor is all I'm saying. Give the kid a chance.
Talontd - 8/20/2012, 3:22 PM one complains when EVERY OTHER star's children enter the entertainment industry, but HOW DARE WILL SMITH help his son break into the industry!!!!

I wonder why you guys are all mad?

Let's see....there is JOSH BROLIN, CHRIS PINE, ALLISON EASTWOOD, JAKE BUSEY, KATE HUDSON, SCOTT CAAN, BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD, EMMA ROBERTS, MICHEAL DOUGLAS, KIEFER SUTHERLAND, & TYLER POSEY...that I can think of and find with a quick google search... let's see...what's different about JAYDEN SMITH than all those people??? Hmmmmm.....there has to be something causing all this animosity....just don't seem to be able to put my finger on it....

darklydreamingdexter - 8/20/2012, 8:13 PM
SPOILER ALERT!!!! there will be a predictable twist at the end of this film. you will see it coming. you will be disappointed
darklydreamingdexter - 8/20/2012, 8:19 PM
@Talontd dont make it a race thing you ignorant prick troll. maybe they dont like Wills son because he is a shit actor. there is a difference between him and kieffer sutherland, chris pine, and emma roberts. they are good. and by the by jake busey is a horse, not an actor.
