Warner Bros. Announce Release Date Of GODZILLA 2

Warner Bros. revealed at this year's San Diego Comic-Con that Gareth Edwards would return to helm a sequel to Godzilla, and the studio has today announced its release date. It seems as if the British director will jump straight from his Star Wars spin-off into this one...

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures announced today that the sequel to Gareth Edwards' Godzilla will be released on June 8th, 2018. That's a four year gap between the first and second instalments, but the British filmmaker will of course be busy with his currently untitled Star Wars spin-off (that's set for release on December 16th, 2016(. His involvement was confirmed at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, and it was revealed at the time that the sequel would include some familiar monsters who would join Gozdilla in the sequel. Those have been confirmed as Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah! Of course, we'll still get our fix of monster movies in the meantime with King Kong reboot Skull Island in 2016 and Pacific Rim 2 in 2017. Godzilla has so far grossed $500 million worldwide and was well-received by critics. How do you guys feel about this news?

ALegendaryPanda - 8/14/2014, 10:19 AM
I will be 22 when this movie comes out.... wow!
Abary - 8/14/2014, 10:19 AM
Considering Edwards is doing Star Wars, this seems appropriate.

I'd still prefer no sequel at all though, but nevermind...
Pasto - 8/14/2014, 10:22 AM
This just in: @ALegendaryPanda is a fetus.

"I'd still prefer no sequel at all though, but nevermind..."

Same. I thought Godzilla was great and worked great as a standalone film. What's the sequel going to be, ANOTHER kaiju wakes up and forces Godzilla to attack and save the city again? It'll be exactly the same as the first movie, except with a different monster. But nowadays, if a movie makes enough money, it's guaranteed to get a sequel. Oh well.
shabat - 8/14/2014, 10:22 AM
22! Holy shit!!!

Turk, are you just saying that because of DC, because if you're just trolling DC, then to say Warner sucks is a bit misguided.
YeezusWept - 8/14/2014, 10:27 AM

So you were 12 when IM1 and TDK came out? Shit.
TChalla - 8/14/2014, 10:28 AM

wolverinesfury - 8/14/2014, 10:31 AM
I bet it hurt Josh to write "Pacific Rim 2 in 2017" in the article, in which I say let him suffer. =)
shabat - 8/14/2014, 10:32 AM
I see pictures have been included in the article now.
TChalla - 8/14/2014, 10:32 AM
Yeah, yeah... I'm gonna be flat out broke by 2020 lol
cipher - 8/14/2014, 10:33 AM

I'm hoping I'll live long enough to reach the "sleep with a whore of Babylon" portion of this to do list, and, maybe, just maybe if I'm REALLY lucky I'll get to check off the "have sex with your clone" bit, but hopefully I'll die before the herpes cream aftermath.
Pasto - 8/14/2014, 10:34 AM
You'll never look young when you stand next to me.
TChalla - 8/14/2014, 10:35 AM
"Of course, we'll still get our fix of monster movies in the meantime with King Kong reboot Skull Island in 2016 and Pacific Rim 2 in 2017."

And then we got these as well.

Babylon thing ain't gonna happen. Whatever, I'll settle for the clone-shagging.
shabat - 8/14/2014, 10:37 AM
So cipher, does this mean the boxes that are checked are things you have done? That is an incredible list. I want to see the third nipple pic. Also, how have you not shit in the woods?
MrCBM56 - 8/14/2014, 10:37 AM
Speaking of young, did anyone enjoy that Throwback Disney yesterday? I know @Pasto did :P
ALegendaryPanda - 8/14/2014, 10:37 AM

With that line up of comic book movies, I am set for life!
MrBlackJack - 8/14/2014, 10:37 AM
I think DEV, Sid, and JamesMan are the only (regular) users who've got dirt on me.
BigMikeReviews - 8/14/2014, 10:38 AM
I'll be 12 years old by the time this movie comes out, what an eternity!
ALegendaryPanda - 8/14/2014, 10:38 AM

How old are you?
Pasto - 8/14/2014, 10:38 AM
