Alice Eve On Benedict Cumberbatch's STAR TREK Role: "He's Not Playing Khan"

Despite many believing that Entertainment Weekly slipped up by outing the real identity of Cumberbatch's villain in Star Trek Into Darkness, British actress Alic Eve remains adamant that he is definitely not Khan when questioned on the Bafta red carpet..

Many fans thought that the true identity of the villain known as John Harrison has finally been revealed to be Khan when EW printed a pic of Cumberbatch alongside Star Trek Into Darkness co-star Chris Pine, with the headline "Kirk and Khan". Although just as many believed (apparently rightfully so) that thsi was merely a misprint, and not the leaking of some big secret by the mag at all. In the below vid Alice Eve is asked about it, and flatly states that he is NOT playing the classic Trek villain.

Of course this still doesn't really prove anything, as we all know that stars and directors will flat out lie about such things to keep secrets, but in this case I think we're going to have to resign ourselves to the fact that we will not be getting a new take on Khan Noonien Singh in this Star Trek sequel.

Interesting dress ya got there, Alice
SuperDude001 - 2/10/2013, 4:22 PM
OH WHO GIVES A FRICK WHO HE'S PLAYING?!!?!?! I mean it's Benedict Cumberbatch playing a badass villain with a Star Trek crew that we know is awesome. Why can't the media and general people just wait for the movie, I mean knowing he's Khan doesn't change much that we know; so whether he is or isn't, doesn't really matter.

Sorry, just I'm interested to find out who he is but people have been faffing around so much that it's just annoying now.
TheBeard - 2/10/2013, 4:23 PM
Does Alice Eve get naked, these are the things we need to know..

95 - 2/10/2013, 4:25 PM
I agree @SuperDude001.
LP4 - 2/10/2013, 4:25 PM
He's not Khan.

Now, let's get back to how hott Alice Eve is.
Facade - 2/10/2013, 4:27 PM
I can't get over how much mystery is still surrounding this movie!
NerdyGeek - 2/10/2013, 4:30 PM
RetroFit - 2/10/2013, 4:30 PM
My guess is that if he isn't personally Khan then Khan is an organization. A terrorist organization!
TheJokerMask - 2/10/2013, 4:31 PM
SpiderBat209 - 2/10/2013, 4:32 PM
Benicio Del Toro or Antonio Banderas for KHAN!!! :D
LP4 - 2/10/2013, 4:38 PM
@SpiderBat209- I was actually thinking Irfan Khan could be a good choice for Khan. At least Irfan is ACTUALLY Indian plus he LOOKS evil AND he has the last name- Khan lol.

My vote has always been for Irfan Khan to be Khan. PLUS he looks evil like i said- look at those beady eyes AND i can see Irfan Khan playing a more business version of Khan, maybe he can be running a Eugenics corporation or somethin...

LP4 - 2/10/2013, 4:39 PM
But yeah no way is Cumberbatch playing Khan. If he is, [frick] I'll want my money back.
Niklander - 2/10/2013, 4:42 PM
ΟK let me tell you a thory what if John Harrison plays John Harrison a new character who is like Khan and wants revenge because he thinks his kind has perished!!??!
IDKwhatToChoose - 2/10/2013, 4:43 PM
This cast is great. I am just looking forward to the movie. I actually don't really want Khan because then what? The search for Spock again??
Nemeres - 2/10/2013, 4:48 PM
LP4 - 2/10/2013, 4:49 PM
@IDKwhatToChoose- Yeah same here, i never wanted Khan in this film...ANYWHERE in this film. But IF they MUST bring him in...maybe to the 3rd one, I'd go with Irfan Khan for the role.
LP4 - 2/10/2013, 4:51 PM
I'm surprised we still have no idea who the [frick] he's really playing. Of course John Harrison is a fake name for his real character but I'm amazed we still don't know.

I wouldn't mind him just being a guy named John Harrison. That could certainly work out fine.

I kinda like the Robert April theory
panther505 - 2/10/2013, 4:53 PM
I agree with most of you guys as well. Having an Indian actor or any of the racial types that use the former Mongol language names would be cool but not actually necessary. But for me most importantly I think is that I would really like them to go their own direction and not just make it a rehash of the old series', otherwise why do them? Let them be new with minor nods to the original series is best in my opinion.
dellamorte1872 - 2/10/2013, 5:03 PM
Khan should never be in it, it's bad enough we have our Klingons looking like PREDATOR rejects.
Comedian666 - 2/10/2013, 5:16 PM
He's an agent of Khan, I'm sure of it. I guarantee it's going to be just like the Batman Begins situation where Cumberbatch's character acts liek the one in charge but Peter Weller's character turns out to be Khan...
Scooby - 2/10/2013, 5:16 PM
Pooh - 2/10/2013, 5:20 PM
First they ruined Romulans. Now they've ruined Klingons. OMG.
cmax - 2/10/2013, 5:25 PM
It's either the Skrulls, or the Badoon.
Drake09 - 2/10/2013, 5:36 PM
Lol you people will believe anything actors say. He's KAHN.
VictorHugo - 2/10/2013, 5:43 PM
how were the Klingons ruined? just because they got helmets? were the Kingon ruined when they got their curved shaped swords in the TNG? or when they got new ships?
Ocelot - 2/10/2013, 5:54 PM
yep he's kahn
Jollem - 2/10/2013, 6:13 PM

@Scooby God bless you Scooby. God bless you.

CrispySeaplanes - 2/10/2013, 6:48 PM
Why would he be Khan? why would Khan suddenly be a different race? Why would he be an organization? This universe was split by the arrival of Nero's ship at the time of Kirk's birth. Khan would have been frozen and floating through space for 200 years before the change in the timeline.
DrainBamage - 2/10/2013, 6:59 PM
I'm with CrispySeaplanes on this one. Unless Abrams has just decided to say 'screw continuity,' then Khan should still be asleep in the Botany Bay. Aside from that, I don't see why Khan would be in Starfleet.

That's one of the reasons I was against a 'soft' reboot in the first place. If you're going to reboot, then reboot. Don't try and connect it to the original just to placate fans.

They'll probably pull that 'final scene reveal' crap that's been popular lately and have him be 'John Harrison' then at the end reveal that his birth name is Khan or Mitchell. Worked for TDKR and Skyfall.
KingLing - 2/10/2013, 7:03 PM
Still think she should've been Emma Frost for X-Men First Class.
Pooh - 2/10/2013, 7:30 PM
I think Alice Eve would have been a great White Queen.
Tainted87 - 2/10/2013, 7:37 PM
I think it's a misprint. Also, too many actors have gone public saying that he is NOT Khan.

Why would they try to hide his identity? If they were really out to present a rebooted Khan, you'd think they would publicize it to no end.
I don't think they'd waste Cumberbatch on such an established character too.
No, this is a new one.

Also, although changing continuity would be irrelevant at this point... Khan was a leader in the Eugenics War, which supposedly took place in the 1990s. He'd have been cryogenically frozen nearly a century before Nero created an alternate timeline. If you wanted to update the continuity simply because obviously we haven't had World War III yet, we'd still have Enterprise in 2150, which First Contact predates by 90 years - having a lack of real government (from the war) set at 2040.

So somewhere in the next few decades, we will have seen Khan.
yinyangpalms - 2/10/2013, 7:39 PM
Maybe Cumberbatch is playing Mr. P***y. Or D**kface. Or C**ksucker.
Perhaps they cant release the name because its profanity like when Redmist became "Motherf**ker" in Kick-Ass 2.
Scion - 2/10/2013, 7:45 PM
That voice is so damn sexy

@deathmetalbrian Youre just upset because she called Trek and Star Wars fans like you a "Geek".

KHAN ISN'T IN THIS [frick]ING MOVIE. Thank god.

This isn't the same situation as TDKR when Marion Cottilard denied she was Talia. In that, SHE was the sole person denying it, Nolan and the rest of the cast just wouldn't answer the questions about Talia. They performed Nolan-speak which means- they say nothing.

With THIS...we had Simon Pegg flatly DENIED Khan as the villain. We had Bryan Burk also DENIED Khan was the villain...and he's the [frick]ing producer. Now we have Alice Eve denying Khan. AND EVEN J.J. Abrams denied Khan.

I can't see all these people as LYING. It would hurt publicity for the movie.

Face it people- NO KHAN :)
