Has Simon Pegg Joined The Cast Of J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS EPISODE VII?

It looks like J.J. Abrams will be reuniting with at least one member of the Star Trek cast for Star Wars Episode VII as Simon Pegg (who also starred in Abrams' Mission Impossible 3) has apparently been spotted on the set shooting scenes in Abu Dhabi. Read on for details!

According to IGN Middle East, their sources have told them that Simon Pegg will indeed make an appearance in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode VII after being spitted on set to shoot scenes. Now, with the Hot Fuzz actor recently stating that "I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to be in it, to be honest. I think J.J. should cast new faces with no stunt casting," it seems possible that he was simply paying a visit to the set, but why would he do that when they're shooting in his home country?! The site goes on to add that Pegg has a secret role in the film, and so it seems likely that this is just a cameo appearance of some sort. Either way, we'll find out in a little over a year from now! Would you guys like to see Simon Pegg make the jump from Star Trek to Star Wars?

SuperCat knows what's up. While I love Pegg in almost everything he does, it'd be too much to have him appear in both. A bit like Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson) playing a character in BvS.
ndwwrestler2 - 6/12/2014, 5:22 AM
I don't see the problem...especially if he just has a small role or a cameo.

Brainiac13 - 6/12/2014, 5:26 AM
Oh no.....Its going to be a galactic Flame war!

Go Picard! ;)

Jollem - 6/12/2014, 5:26 AM
i really don't see what the problem would be, either
SuperCat - 6/12/2014, 5:26 AM

I agree! Love Pegg but he's Scotty! Guess it would be ok if he's in heavy make-up though.
SuperCat - 6/12/2014, 5:27 AM
LOl @ Brainiac

Gotta love Picard!
SuperDude001 - 6/12/2014, 5:27 AM
I wouldn't mind him being in it, he's not only a good comic actor but he's grown to be very diverse and mature in his roles. Not like he'd be playing anything like Scotty.
However, it is widely known that he and his filmmaking partners Nick Frost and Edgar Wright are big fans of Star Wars, as the clips from Jollem examplify, and so it could very much be likely he's just visiting the set seeing as he knows the director - I mean that's like a fanboys dream.
Maven - 6/12/2014, 5:30 AM
Oh so he's JJ's bitch now...

Damn. Edgar's losing so much.
Pasto - 6/12/2014, 5:38 AM
Wait.....IGN Middle East?
Azbat - 6/12/2014, 5:39 AM

did that happen on set? is there a full video?
DEVLIN712 - 6/12/2014, 5:41 AM
It's the 3rd most popular IGN site behind IGN North Korea
Sumitsjc - 6/12/2014, 5:43 AM
well maybe Cameo as disguised Alien.
Pasto - 6/12/2014, 5:44 AM
LMFAO, sounds like a fun place.
Ceejay - 6/12/2014, 5:47 AM
Remember the days when Franchises did not blur their lines by hiring the same actors and actresses? Surely there are enough struggling performers out their to bring fresh faces to these stories rather than cast them like fanboys trying to get their friends and family into an indie movie.
GeekyCheekyChic - 6/12/2014, 5:48 AM
YES! I want JJ to piss of the Trekkies and the Far Far Away fans! CROSSOVER!! Scotty shows up to help Han fix the Millenium Falcon! YAY!!
OpticBlastWins - 6/12/2014, 5:50 AM
I hope people dont spaze out over this. I think he shouldnt be but come on its a movie
RorMachine - 6/12/2014, 5:51 AM
Pegg is such a huger Star Wars fan that I can't imagine his pal would make the movie without giving SOME kinda role in it.
charlie2094 - 6/12/2014, 5:52 AM
Not surprised really. I mean, he's said before how big a fan he is, wouldn't be surprised if Abrams did give him some sort of cameo appearance
MexicanSexyman - 6/12/2014, 5:54 AM
@DEVLIN712, the difference is that Clark Greg sucks ass at acting and is bland as shit.
MexicanSexyman - 6/12/2014, 5:55 AM
Most likely a cameo.
CaptShipwreck - 6/12/2014, 5:56 AM
He deserves it, he seems like a good guy and is a big fan... He deserves the reward
Gazmataz1981 - 6/12/2014, 5:58 AM
This would be a dream come true for Pegg, just watch the Channel 4 series "Spaced" and you'll see how much of a die-hard Star Wars fan this man is. It'd be funny if he interacts with a descendant of Jar-Jar...
McGee - 6/12/2014, 5:58 AM

It's nice that he's very good friends with J.J. and can easily just walk on over to Star Wars because of that friendship.

Because let me tell you....if he had wanted to be in X-Men....

He'd have to audition for Bryan Singer like everyone else!

CaptShipwreck - 6/12/2014, 5:58 AM
And Mexican that's just dumb to trash talk Greg ...
I mean really dumb... He has nothing to do with this ...that's just lame shit
BRUHHHHHHHHHH - 6/12/2014, 6:01 AM

MexicanSexyman - 6/12/2014, 6:02 AM
@CaptShipwreck, dev brought him up so stfu. Clark Greg is wrost part of anything he is in.
Timerider84 - 6/12/2014, 6:19 AM
Star wars is a LONG TIME AGO. Star Trek is Way, WAY in the future, he couldn't and shouldn't play Scotty in Star Wars Episode VII. As long as he's in heavy make-up and unrecognizable and he changes his voice some, then I see no problem with it.
MsDarkPhoenix - 6/12/2014, 6:19 AM
Star Trek and now Star Wars!! Lucky dude!!!
JediPhilosopher - 6/12/2014, 6:21 AM
Sure, why not?
MsDarkPhoenix - 6/12/2014, 6:21 AM

WOOHOO!!!!!! :DD
KallarkKent - 6/12/2014, 6:22 AM
A geek's dream come true, who wouldn't want to be both Star Trek ans start wars. I'm jealous :)

Would be awesome if Pegg showed up onscreen and said "I might be in the wrong place".
DrunkenNukem - 6/12/2014, 6:28 AM
Team Abrams...So Pegg is going to be in both movies ...Star Wars and Mission Impossible 5 in the same month...

DrunkenNukem - 6/12/2014, 6:29 AM
You can cast Patrick Stewart as well, why not? Picard in Star Wars
RetroFit - 6/12/2014, 6:34 AM
As long as he's not playing the same character he plays in every movie then I'm almost fine with it. But I'd rather not have a bunch of celebrity cameos that pull me out of the movie for a line or two just because JJ wanted it to be a Hollywood love fest and get as many names and friends in the movie as he could. I want no-names where I can immerse myself in their character and the story.
