Is Billie Lourd Playing A Young Princess Leia In STAR WARS: EPISODE VII?

We had heard that Carrie Fisher's daughter was to make an appearance in J.J. Abrams' currently shooting Star Wars movie, but no info was provided on what role she'd play. Well, if the following report is accurate, Episode VII will feature flashbacks. More past the jump.

The Daily Mail reckon they've confirmed that Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd has been cast in Disney’s Star Wars: Episode VII, and add that she'll actually play a younger version of her mother's iconic character from the original trilogy, Princess Leia Organa/Skywalker. Apparently director J.J. Abrams chose Lourd for the role "because of their visual similarities". We'll have to take this as a rumor for now of course, but it does make a certain amount of sense. Lourd has no acting experience, so she's likely been cast for a very specific reason..and I can't think of a better one than playing young Leia in flashbacks. Do you buy it? Sound off below.

I wouldn't be surprised. They could do some sleek flash-back sequences and all that jazz.
Brainiac13 - 6/30/2014, 3:28 PM
I live in Buckinghamshire. :)
Brainiac13 - 6/30/2014, 3:29 PM
Lots of Flashbacks then..
SuperCat - 6/30/2014, 3:34 PM
I'd have to say yes, she is.
charlie2094 - 6/30/2014, 3:36 PM

Is that a map of Middle Earth or Narnia?
Brainiac13 - 6/30/2014, 3:43 PM

Funny you say looks a lot like Hobbiton.
DatGuy - 6/30/2014, 3:44 PM
So does that mean, something from the past is going to be linked to something in the present of this new SW franchise? Hmm.
JillyMcBeam - 6/30/2014, 3:48 PM
As long as they don't have stupid aliens like Ewoks or Gungans I am fine.
sKeemAn - 6/30/2014, 3:50 PM
I want to know if she got them young Carrie Fisher boobs. She could play whoever she wants if she has those.
Abary - 6/30/2014, 3:52 PM
I can dig it.
wookiefit - 6/30/2014, 3:53 PM
So Carrie Fisher was 21 when StarWars was made and played a 17 year old rebel spy. Her daughter is 22 and will be playing a younger version of Leia. Does not add up.

Also don't forget: young Leia equals no braaaaaa
REPOMAN - 6/30/2014, 4:04 PM

Star Wars films don't use the narrative device of 'flashbacks' so it's more likely she's either not in it or playing a minor role- possibly Leia's child.

duey2000 - 6/30/2014, 4:05 PM
I doubt it. It was said a long time ago that there was no place for flashbacks in the Star Wars movies. There was even a lot of concern over Anakin's dream sequences in AOTC. It's all misdirection. If it's because of her physical similarities, my money would be on clone or daughter.
AlexanderLykins - 6/30/2014, 4:14 PM
That was so much fun.
UltimateCookie - 6/30/2014, 4:19 PM
If she's playing a young Leia I just hope we don't get this type of performance.
youknowmyname - 6/30/2014, 4:22 PM
I wouldn't get your hopes up, people. The Daily Mail is famous for just making stuff up. I'd wait until it's confirmed by a reliable source.

@Brainiac13 I used to live there myself... apart from Pinewood studios its the perfect place to be driven crazy.

For all we know this will be a minor cameo appearance although i can see why they would use her as Leia in a flash back
Super12 - 6/30/2014, 4:27 PM

POP, POP!!!!!
staypuffed - 6/30/2014, 4:32 PM
That's actually a really cool idea.

CuddlyCereal - 6/30/2014, 4:41 PM
lol. There will not be flashbacks.
RetroFit - 6/30/2014, 4:58 PM
I don't like flashbacks in movies like this. I think it's a terrible idea.
dancingmonkey08 - 6/30/2014, 5:19 PM
ah the flashbacks where a young Leia horribly kills Jar Jar, I look forward to it! :)

And I love how we are discussing a movie that will have an older Leia and potential flashbacks to a younger Leia...when 10 years ago, it looked like we would never see any of the original characters on the big screen again! CANT WAIT! :)
JorL5150 - 6/30/2014, 5:22 PM
as long as she wheres the jaaba palace bikini i dont give a gusto.
typicalfanboy - 6/30/2014, 5:28 PM
she look nothing like princess leia!!! it's not like she's carrie fisher's daughter or anything! shit movie. shit casting. i hate everything about it. i also paid $1000 for one advanced advanced ticket. i hate this movie so much.
ManThing - 6/30/2014, 5:28 PM
She's cute. Everything I have been hearing about this movie I have really liked. But for some reason I'm just afraid of getting my hopes up. I was crazy excited about Episode 1, and look how that turned out.

I was so sad about it for so long and i just still have this conditioned visceral response of negativity.
DatGuy - 6/30/2014, 5:52 PM
@RichardBoldly No, I did not remember that rumor.
