STAR WARS VII Stormtrooper Helmet Sketch Has Made Its Way Online

Hit the jump to check out our first look at a sketched image of the new stormtrooper helmet design for Star Wars VII.

The artist, Tom Hodges, had a quick glimpse of the helmet and began a sketch five minutes after seeing the new design.

Do you like the sleeker, rounded, McQuarrie look to the design? What do you think that the stormtroopers are doing 30 years after the destruction of the second Death Star? Comment below and tell us what you think.

Set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, Star Wars VII continues the story of our favorite band of heroes and introduces new heroes. Directed by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars VII is set for release December 18, 2015.

Looks cool, different but similar enough, definitely Mcqarrie inspired like was said, which is good.

Please no more stormtrooper. They can't hit shit and their armor can't protect them to save their life.

Why wouldn't the Empire still be around in some way?
Just killing the Emperor doesn't destroy all of the Stormtroopers, their fleets of battleships, and the hundreds of worlds that have fallen under their grasp.
Much like killing the President of the United States wouldn't cause the U.S. Army to simply blow up and cease existing.
That's silly. You're silly.
ndwwrestler2 - 8/11/2014, 1:28 PM
^ He has a point.
yossarian - 8/11/2014, 1:45 PM
Not really.

20+ years after overthrowing the government and there are still storm troopers? It took about 20 minutes after Hitler died for the SS to disband. If the president was killed in a hostile takeover of the American Government, then yes, the military personnel who stick around to fight for the old regime would run through their resources and eventually die out.
Pheezmatic - 8/11/2014, 2:55 PM
Oh shit...

Yoss just shitted on someone with a history lesson lol

But the Allies also pushed through Germany, actually defeating the Germans. All that happened in ROTJ was that the Rebels killed both Vader and the Emperor, though perhaps the implication was that numerous popular revolts followed(?).

Considering that the Empire spanned a galaxy, and was run on a planet-by-planet, system by system basis, it is not unreasonable that 20-30 years later, the relatively small Rebel alliance hasn't been able to dislodge the Empire. One country vs. an entire galaxy is a great difference.

Well, supposedly the storm trooper armor was an effective design for armor. Maybe they just figured, aint broke, don't fix?
