UPDATE: First Look At Arnold Schwarzenneger As The 'T-800' In TERMINATOR: GENISYS
We've seen the other cast members opening fire in a few promo shots from Alan Taylor's movie already, but here is our first official still from Terminator: Genisys, featuring Arnie as the older T-800. There's also a new BTS snap of the Terminator endoskeleton and more.
We know Schwarzenegger will be playing an aged T-800 in this movie, but it seems we'll also get to see him as a younger model from the original James Cameron Terminator. EW reveal that the film makers plan to "re-create the memorable scene in the original Terminator when the T-800 lands at L.A.’s Griffith Observatory, complete with Schwarzenegger’s 36-year-old face and ripped, naked body." This was achieved by the creation of a “synthespian,” or synthetic thespian. The state-of-the-art special effects utilize a body double and a scan of Schwarzenegger's face from the first film, merged with what his face looks like now. The end result is the spring chicken T-800 from the 1984 film.
The beginning of Terminator: Genisys, the first of three planned films that Paramount hopes will relaunch the beloved sci-fi franchise, is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese (Divergent‘s Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post apocalyptic California. As in the original film, Connor sends Reese back to 1984 to save Connor’s mother, Sarah (Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator programmed to kill her so that she won’t ever give birth to John. But what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected.
The film hits theatres July 1st, 2015.
