BOX OFFICE: $141M Debut For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN In US; $341.2M Worldwide

According to the official estimates, the Marc Webb-directed film collected $341.2 million at the worldwide box office so far. More after the jump...

Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man is off to a good start. Thanks to Exhibitor Relations, we have these official estimates for the weekend.

During its 6-day debut in North America, film managed to make $141 million ($65 million Friday-Sunday), plus the $200 million internationally brings the global total to $341.2 million. It's still hard to predict how much will the film make at the end, but with an "A-" Cinemascore it should have solid word-of-mouth and studio must be pleased with the results of this reboot. With sequel already scheduled to be released in 2014, it's safe to say that Spidey is back!

Starring Andrew Garfield, Rhys Ifans, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Sally Field and Martin Sheen, The Amazing Spider-Man is now in theatres.

not bad for six days, not as good as the avengers but that was something rather special that we probably won't see again until the avengers 2.

AC1 - 7/8/2012, 8:58 AM
I really hope this and The Dark Knight Rises do incredibly well and don't damage each others' box offices too much. I really think this was the best Spidey film so far and I equally think TDKR will be the best Batman film. Going to see Spidey another 2 times this week, and got my IMAX TDKR tickets booked too.

@blueberryicedcoffee Avatar 2? I'm really hoping that enough people who watched Avatar realised that it's just a Pocahontas/Dances with Wolves/Smurfs rip off and Avatar 2 doesn't do as well as the original did. I really think Avatar is possibly the most overrated film ever made.
AC1 - 7/8/2012, 8:59 AM
I really doubt TASM will even get close to earning Avengers' money, and I do think The Dark Knight Rises will do better, but I still hope this does well. I want to see a sequel!
Dynamo - 7/8/2012, 8:59 AM
So much for people thinking that TASM was going to make more than TDKR...
FireKnightRises - 7/8/2012, 9:00 AM
its spider-man so of course it will successed plus it have the rep from raimi movies
phenomenon - 7/8/2012, 9:03 AM
@marvel 72...that we probably won't see again until the avengers 2....... don't forget avatar 2......
BiZArOh - 7/8/2012, 9:03 AM
@alf TDKR isn't going to be the boxoffice smash the avengers was. no one is predicting that. It'll do good yea but remember TDK never "dominated" the box if just kinda made a respectable amount of money week after week never really decreasing.
webheaded - 7/8/2012, 9:07 AM
Yup. It's definitely hitting a billion.
InTylerWeTrust - 7/8/2012, 9:14 AM
I loved this movie and I've supported it since Day 1 but TDKR is going to wreck shop in the BO. That's just reality. And it's going to be awesome. Still, Spidey should do fine until that hits and it should generate enough for a sequel. That's all I care about.
capcyclopsftw - 7/8/2012, 9:17 AM
Avatar 2 will not do as well this time, as the first movie has lost its magic on the GA. I think it sucked balls and I will not be excited for avatar 2 what do ever, IMO.
capcyclopsftw - 7/8/2012, 9:18 AM
*so ever.
SuperBatCap1 - 7/8/2012, 9:19 AM
Glad for the business and excited for the sequel, but I just wish the movie had been better overall.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 7/8/2012, 9:20 AM
Ughh is it really necessary to mention TDKR.
Dynamo - 7/8/2012, 9:21 AM
I'm just really glad that it seems that we've had a really good year with CBM. It looks as if no CBM is going to suck this year. :)
marvel72 - 7/8/2012, 9:27 AM
@ blueberryicedcoffee

tdkr won't beat the avengers & avatar 2 i don't class as a comic book movie thats why i said the avengers 2.

@ phenomenon

i agree avatar 2 will probably beat the avengers but its not a comic book movie thats why i said the avengers 2.
Wildaniel - 7/8/2012, 9:34 AM
Avatar is sooooooooo overrated! The entire movie was filmed behind a green screen. TDKR is mostly all real, including the plane scene, yes its real watch the featurette from yesterday.

Anyways The Amazing Spiderman was great!
CaptainAmerica31 - 7/8/2012, 9:42 AM
This is a spider-man thread not a TDKR thread, if you wanna talk about TDKR go to a TDKR article.
rocky - 7/8/2012, 9:45 AM
Well Avatar's a sci/fi fantasy film so what if it filmed with a green screen it still rocked.

Almost any movie's story you can trace back to some other source so all this bs about Dances with Wolves is just that, bs

The next one, like all Cameron films will up the ante and give us things we've never seen before. Here comes a new underwater adventure. They're already working on the motion capture under water. Yeah it's going to be awesome, take it to the bank
Bodwulf - 7/8/2012, 9:48 AM
I bet it drops 60% next week.
ATrueHero1987 - 7/8/2012, 9:54 AM
Finally seen it. It was pretty good. The main negatives for me was that it should've been more of a stand alone film than leaving some things to be answered in the sequels....also the story structure was too similar to the first Spider-Man. Other than that, it was pretty good.
DraculaX - 7/8/2012, 9:55 AM
I thought the movie was good but its like what Itbegins2005 said on another article, the last minute editing decisions that cut alot scenes we saw in the trailers. I hope we get a director's cut soon.
rocky - 7/8/2012, 10:00 AM
I loved TASM but do agree that the last minute editing seems to have hurt the flow of the film.

But like Marvel87 said, they're probably saving some answers and reveals for the sequel.

I'm seeing it again, I thought it rocked. Could've used more epic city web slinging to really highlight the 3D and even some more first person perspective
BigHec - 7/8/2012, 10:01 AM
@ACira and @Wildaniel- Thank you...I too believe Avatar was overrated...I saw it and I was quite bored with the story..visually it was great but not the best movie of all time....Spiderman was actually a good movie but I think it wont make more than 500 million total..Dark Knight Rises will stop its draw and then Dark Knight Rises will finish 4 behind Avengers capping off a great Comic Book Summer.
BigHec - 7/8/2012, 10:04 AM
Also I truely loved Spiderman but I cant fully invest it...Until Spiderman is under the Marvel umbrella once again...I just feel that this is Sony tryna hold on to the rights to make Marvel's money...It just sucks knowing that it will take years for Spiderman/X men/Fantastic 4 to appear in a real Marvel movie
datNAMEtho - 7/8/2012, 10:28 AM
Those are good numbers for Spidey! Although I thought the movie was decent, I wasn't overwhelmed anywhere. Hopefully the sequel is better.
readme - 7/8/2012, 10:56 AM
im a comic book movie fan and im a neutral in this DC vs Marvel war. I watched the amazing spiderman a few days ago and ive gotta say...... it was really boring. the storyline was slow, i didnt laugh once at the comedy and even though i wasnt a fan of the first trilogy, i preferred it to this! on the plus side i thought the acting was good, the action (when it actually happened) was decent and the lizard looked good (once again it needed more of him). My honest opinion for people who havent seen it yet, wait for it to come out to dvd.
BooYah - 7/8/2012, 11:03 AM
Doesn't deserve to make more then the original Spidey. In my opinion it wasn't anything special it borrowed to many scenes from the original movie but didn't improve on them. So far Raimi > Webb. The sequel has potential.
Darkhaven - 7/8/2012, 11:06 AM
Pretty damn good pace for six days. Some movies fight to make this much in their entire run.
ChanchoMcGrady - 7/8/2012, 11:32 AM
I hope that when Avatar 2 rolls around, people will realize that the first movie was really only mediocre and will not be as unnecessarily excited for the sequel as they were for the first. It was just Pocahontas with a sci-fi twist. It had amazing visual effects, but a very basic and common story, and was too long. Mediocre.

The Amazing Spider-Man, however, was amazing. So was The Avengers. And hopefully, so will The Dark Knight Rises be. More power to them for making lots of money.
Minghagz - 7/8/2012, 11:40 AM
@readme, duly noted.
ChanchoMcGrady - 7/8/2012, 11:43 AM
@SteveRogers666
hahaha
No but seriously. A guy comes to a new land, and his superiors want him to help them take the land from the indigenous people. He falls in love with a woman of the indigenous people. He fights back against his superiors. Pocahontas.
Equivocal - 7/8/2012, 11:46 AM
as far as reboot goes, TASM is doing very good in comparison with the other reboot, Batman Begins, which did $370 + worldwide.
I do too agree that TASM has even a bigger potential in the sequel!
RamonSuarez - 7/8/2012, 12:46 PM
@SuspenseSmith

To add to what you are saying I also think people are still baffled as to why the franchise was rebooted so soon after Spiderman 3. Raimi's Spiderman is still fresh in a lot of people's minds and there is a backlash at what is perceived to be a cynical money grab by Sony to keep the Spiderman cash cow making money.
NOLANITE - 7/8/2012, 12:49 PM
Haven't seen this and don't think I will.
I'm giving my money to SAVAGES this weekend.
SkateandDestroy88 - 7/8/2012, 12:51 PM
Meh. sounds like a lot of money to me. Remember when Green Lantern Came out. Hahahahahah. Ok Love Dc and Marvel and the Amazing Spiderman was tight. I liked it. I thought it delivered.

I'm sure the film has allready made money, anybody know what the budget for this film was?
CoolantTech - 7/8/2012, 12:59 PM
TASM was good, the orgins shit bogged it down though... the sequel will be the greatest of the 5 movies, im calling it now
Eraytos - 7/8/2012, 1:20 PM
Absolutely loved this film and to be honest I probably enjoyed it more than the Avengers. Just slightly though.
TheTank - 7/8/2012, 2:01 PM
Don't be so sure this is going to get a sequel. Man of Steel was announced for 2009 as the sequel to SR before SR even opened. Considering the first 3 spider-man movies held records for the biggest openings the time of their release, I'd say 141 mil in a week is a very very disappointing tally. Would have been much cooler had Sony's option on the character expire, and they reboot Spidey in the Avengers universe. This movie was lackluster at best, it had some good qualities but felt cobbled together.
YoungThanos - 7/8/2012, 2:12 PM
Look for that to cut in half next weekend and cut to 0 once Dark Knight comes out.

So they wont make it past 700mil world wide.

But by right this franchise should be doing Harry Potter numbers.

Say lets have Marvel Studies get a crack at it to see if I'm right....
CaptainAmerica31 - 7/8/2012, 2:14 PM
@Thetank to bad, cause the film made all of its money back AND they have already announced the relese date and its in writing production as we speak.
