Emma Stone Reveals More About Her Role As Gwen Stacy In The Amazing Spider-Man!

Talking about her experiences filming The Amazing Spider-Man, the actress confirms that Gwen Stacy is a scientist in the movie and also talks about filming a scene with blue screen...

Glamour have an interview with the beautiful star of The Amazing Spider-Man, and while the majority of the interview didn't touch upon her role in the upcoming reboot, there was still a couple of interesting bits of information for us comic book fans.

Do you think you’ll go to college?

There’s so much I’m interested in that I didn’t discover in high school. For The Amazing Spider-Man, because Gwen is a scientist, we went to a lab in San Diego, and we were learning about biology. And I’m fascinated! Because I never went to biology class in high school. [Laughs.]

You also have The Amazing Spider-Man coming up next.

It's different than anything else I’ve done. There’s a lot of blue screen. The other day I was reacting to a thing that wasn’t there. It’s like being a kid in a refrigerator box.

With an all star cast that includes Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Denis Leary as Captain George Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben and Sally Field as Aunt May, The Amazing Spider-Man is set to be released in 3D on July 3, 2012!

Yeah, a scientist? OK... er, sure why not. (shrugs and shakes head, ending with facepalm).

she will do great as Gwen, I can't wait for first trailer
TheAmazingSmitty - 3/29/2011, 6:11 PM
Guess that was her way of saying ''no'' for the college question. I wonder what she was reacting to with that blue screen, though..
Spidey91 - 3/29/2011, 6:13 PM
she's beautiful *.* (*saves image*)
her presence is reason enough to watch this movie.
ohh yeah,I forgot about that dude swinging around the buildings, that's cool too :P

Any guess on when we will get a trailer? I'm hoping for SD Comic Con...
WellDrawn - 3/29/2011, 6:39 PM
I just want to know which movie she dies in. She's and her father are the only comicbook characters no one liked enough to resurrect.

Hell, even Jason Todd's been brought back like 18 times.

Scientist? Lame. This is the only CBM I'm not currently looking forward to. I hope it'll be good... Maybe the trailers will sell me more on this.
patriautism - 3/29/2011, 7:15 PM
@dragonking555 Yeah her and Peter actually met at Empire State, both their majors were science, and they bonded over their mutual fascination with it.
They even included elements of that in the Raimi films.
I also don't understand how making a cbm that is close to the source is a bad thing?
Makes you wonder if the people complaining about it have actually read the comics.
CapFan79 - 3/29/2011, 7:21 PM
Better than Dunst! I think Raimi got kinda screwed by Sony and Avi Arad since they forced Goblin on him for film 1 and Venom for 3. 2 was the best film and had heart and a good story & best villain (Sandman was awesome but the film was too messy). I hope this reboot works as well.

I like Gwen better than MJ and Lizard should be a better villain on screen. I hope we eventually get Mysterio and Electro before they do Goblin again. I don't want Harry again either. No reason to reboot to do the same stuff.
JoshJones - 3/29/2011, 7:31 PM
I'm pretty sure that by "scientist" she was merely implying that her character has a strong passion for science. It's her thing. She's a still a student, not a scientist by profession. Learn to read between the lines, cranky dickholes.
valeriesghost - 3/29/2011, 7:35 PM
lol @Dragon Its like all of the Ultimate fan boys, ( and i am one) have never read anything from 616. One of the main reasons i like the Ultimate universe is because i've always read 616 till about a year ago. it can be refreshing.

@CapFan I'm with you about harry, but i think he should have a little cameo like kitty pride did in X-1. I think he's to important a character to completely ignore.
Jer3miah - 3/29/2011, 7:40 PM
@Patriautism: Good man; you know your stuff. Seeing as how they drew for the source, and everyone else is complaining... I'd call them HYPOCRITES! Finally, a film in Marvel draws from the source and you fanboys wanna [female dog]?
superpooper - 3/29/2011, 7:52 PM
Did she mean bluescreen and not green screen? Is that something to do with filming in 3d or did she just say some stupid shit?
WebSlinger22 - 3/29/2011, 8:01 PM
One word to describe Emma....Gorgeous! I can't wait to see her as Gwen. However, BDH was sizzling as Gwen and I would be her lab partner anytime. :)
StuckInPanels - 3/29/2011, 9:05 PM
@Super......Blue screens and green screens work under the same principle, they are called Chroma Keys, they add in things in post production to give us a feeling they are together. So her reacting to a CGI lizard seems to be the case

FYI....I'm STOKED!!!! now knowing that we are seeing the Lizard on screen, granted its a different actor but the Lizard is one of my top favorite Spider-man villains. Curt is a victim of circumstances and despite his intentions its the reptilian brain working....as I mentioned the library scene better be awesome with the Lizard stealthily preying on Spider-man and him dodging and weaving around him
RacerREX - 3/29/2011, 9:33 PM
There is a BIG difference between being a science major, and an actual scientist. For you less informed, Uh, I was a real science nerd in school, heck majored in it. That doesn't make me Fermi, or Einstein, or Heisenberg.

patriautism - 3/29/2011, 10:27 PM
@RacerREX As wade pointed out, the ACTRESS Emma Stone was using the word in a broad sense.
This version takes place in high school. So obviously the FICTIONAL CHARACTER Gwen Stacy, is most likely not a professional scientist.
You see as Emma Stone is a real life person, she makes small mistakes like that. It doesn't mean the character is anymore than a brilliant student, at a science high school(as that one set photo suggests).

Also, why do you have such a hostile attitude?
You do realize that you can argue without purposely offending people?
KevinBacon01 - 3/29/2011, 10:34 PM
Why does Gwen Stacy have to be blonde? Why can she be black with a orange weave? Right guys?
RacerREX - 3/29/2011, 10:55 PM
@ Patriautism

When you assume you make an ass/ume out of u/me and /me. Your assumptions about her meaning aside. Please point out the hostility in my post and how I offended people?
patriautism - 3/30/2011, 12:23 AM
@RacerREX It isn't an assumption as they are confirmed high school students.
That would just make it a fact.
You offend people by being a complete dick, to be honest.
In most the post I've seen of yours, you're making an offense remark about someones ideas, thoughts, or opinions, calling them offense things, making homophobic remarks, or just being asinine in general.
Perhaps that is the reason they get deleted?

Debating is fun dude, it's why I love this site. Although, There is a difference between debating, and just being an asshole.

Fastestmanalive - 3/30/2011, 7:43 AM
Shes hot!!
but a hot scientist, and a blonde one on top of that. I know movies are supposed to be fantasy but stll theres a limit.
RacerREX - 3/30/2011, 10:14 AM
Please enlighten me then patriautism. Give me one post where I was being a dick as you say to someone who didn't attack me first. On occasion I have jumped in to defend someone or to put someone down abusing the site.

Yeah, I don't comment on pointless stuff like who would win if Thor fought Green Lantern. I tend to address more controversial subjects. Which leads to people that don't agree with you tossing off little jibes like WittySupername up there. I can't tell if he means that or not. But if he did, he doesn't back it up with any reason.

So if I'm such a big dick then why aren't I attacking you? You just called me a bunch of derogatory names and I'm not insulting you am I? You can think what you want about me, I don't see it, and I disagree.

And I'm no homophobe. I could care less that you are gay. My nephew is gay and if you asked him he would set you straight. Unintentional pun there ;)

It is common practice to call something or someone gay. It doesn't mean I wish a genocide or hate gay people. OK?
droopy1317 - 3/30/2011, 7:11 PM
dam, i love me some Emma Stone, but I'm with grif, [frick] this reboot
thesymbiote - 4/4/2011, 9:01 PM
RacerREX - Watch Spectacular Spiderman. Gwen is more of a nerd in that, just as she seems to be in this.

Also, no need to take it literally. What Emma Stone probably means is that Gwen wants to be a scientist. And I think just as in Spectacular Spidey, she will intern for Dr Connors
