Emma Stone Teases The Fate Of 'Gwen Stacy' In THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

Emma Stone Teases The Fate Of 'Gwen Stacy' In THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

Comic book fans already have an idea of what could well become of Miss Stacy in Marc Webb's sequel, but of course nothing is certain. Now in a recent interview, Emma Stone makes it sound like we're definitely on the right track! Possible major SPOILERS ahead..

Emma Stone called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to discuss her role in Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man 2. The actress revealed that "fans will find out more about the fate of her character Gwen" when a special clip airs this Thursday on the official movie Facebook page before being repeated again during the Super Bowl on Sunday. Does this mean we'll see Gwen die in a clip? Highly unlikely..but going from what Stone says about that particular controversial comic book arc, we will see it in the actual movie.

”Basically they’re going to see the continuation of the Spider Man story, which is the hero’s journey, and he’s up against a whole new squadron of villains and he’s struggling with promises he’s made in the last movie and the consequences of making those and what it’s like to be in love with somebody who you promised to not see anymore. I think the intention the whole time has been to tell Gwen’s story has closely to the comic as possible."

When we brought you some exclusive Amazing Spider-Man 2 info a while back we told you "not to get too attached to Gwen", and Stone all but confirmed that we will indeed see her character shuffle off this mortal coil in the movie. Still, we don't know until we know - this could all be a bit of misdirection. Are you glad Webb seems to be following the comic when it comes to Gwen's fate? Or would you rather see her live? Sound off below.

Please let this be the story where shes killed by overexposure his radioactive bodily fluids... or she snaps like a twig in a sudden twist of realistic physics.
themidnightking - 1/29/2014, 8:48 AM

Can the series die along with her?
QuestiontheAnswer - 1/29/2014, 8:52 AM
I for one would be so happy to see her die, Felicia Hardy ftw.
ezio619 - 1/29/2014, 8:52 AM

JJJameson - 1/29/2014, 8:55 AM
This and Captain America: The Winter Soldier look AMAZING. Can't [frick]ing wait.

QuestiontheAnswer - 1/29/2014, 8:56 AM
Emma Stone should stick to shitty rom-coms.
Highflyer - 1/29/2014, 8:57 AM
I am really looking forward to this movie!
BlackIceJoe - 1/29/2014, 9:00 AM
Well we kind of knew she would have to die. But I personally liked Bryce Dallas Howard's version of Gwen more. But I really wonder if Sony will have the guts to do it in this film. The reason why it seems a lot of guys and maybe even girls like her. So I could see Sony keeping her around for that eye candy. But I personally want to see who they bring in for MJ more instead of more of Emma.
ezio619 - 1/29/2014, 9:00 AM
highflyer-me too!!
JJJameson - 1/29/2014, 9:02 AM

TheClemster - 1/29/2014, 9:07 AM
woop woop

sounds good to me
Dedpool - 1/29/2014, 9:09 AM
She did say that she wouldn;t be happy if they tried to draw it out for a long time, and that Gwen dies in the comics so she needs to have that same fate. Good for Emma!!!
Pheezmatic - 1/29/2014, 9:10 AM
well I'm just glad Webb is following the comic in this sense...

with that said...it sucks the Webb isn't given enough credit for the fact that he's been following the source material in some ways better than anyone else has...ever!

Gotta give credit where credits due... TASM1 was upper middle-class ...just not as good as we expect a spider-man movie to be (kinda like superman and MOS)...but this one has the potential to do what no other spider movie has ever done (considering people can truly connect to this cast)
Spidey10 - 1/29/2014, 9:10 AM
Damn Gwen hate it had to be you
MercwithMouth - 1/29/2014, 9:11 AM
I really like Emma as Gwen, and will be sad to see her go. But, in keeping with one of the most famous Spider-Man stories ever, she's gotta go. We gotta hear that snap. I will applaud Webb if he's got the balls to do it right.

I loved TASM and can't wait for TASM2!
Jollem - 1/29/2014, 9:13 AM
"it sucks the Webb isn't given enough credit for the fact that he's been following the source material in some ways better than anyone else has...ever!"

it's just that a lot of the vocal opinion-givers don't have much or any knowledge of spidey outside of the raimi movies
CherryBomb - 1/29/2014, 9:13 AM
I'd want her to die in the final scene of the movie.
Peter holding her crying and it just cuts to black.
thebamf - 1/29/2014, 9:16 AM
OnePunchBaldy - 1/29/2014, 9:17 AM
They better do the scene justice emotionally. Come on Webb you directed 500 Days Of Summer, a movie to this day has me [frick]ed up. I want Gwen's death to have that same effect.
OnePunchBaldy - 1/29/2014, 9:17 AM
I hope that's how it ends up!
MercwithMouth - 1/29/2014, 9:19 AM

That would be cool.

I think I'd rather see her go in the first scene of TASM3. I want the revenge beatings to come directly after she does, I don't know if I can wait 2 years from when she does to when we see Spidey beat Goblin to within an inch of his life.
KalKent853 - 1/29/2014, 9:23 AM

Naah, they wouldn't end a comicbook movie like that. Although it would be cool, it's too dark to end on.

Pasto - 1/29/2014, 9:33 AM
jrp6048 - 1/29/2014, 9:33 AM
That would awesome Cherrybomb but highly unlikely
RockBottom - 1/29/2014, 9:34 AM
Better prepare some tissues just in case.
TheClemster - 1/29/2014, 9:34 AM
@ Pasto

oh my god that's hilarious
Inhuman - 1/29/2014, 9:35 AM
Her character is not really a spoiler lol. We all know what happens lol. Its just a matter of do they stick to the source material with the bridge or do they come up with something entirely new
GeekyCheekyChic - 1/29/2014, 9:35 AM
If it can be done with care and the end product delivers a huge emotional somber moment that is forever immortalized then yeah kill her. If its going to be as comical as when Harry died in Spider-Man 3 then pass. Keep her alive- rewrite history and don't ever bring in Mary Jane.
Especially since Garfield has one more? TASM 3 vs the Sinister Six ? or is it 4 movies ? I just wouldn't buy it if they have him fall hopelessly in love with Mary Jane and forget he was partially responsible for Gwen's death in one movie...spread it out.
Pasto - 1/29/2014, 9:41 AM
Whomever this 'DannyBoy' is he seems to report a lot of people for mindless shit. Get it together man.
batz11 - 1/29/2014, 9:50 AM
^ DannyBoy got me to #1 and probably a fresh comment start, ha, ha...I knew he'd do it for those...can just delete them in your post the reports will go away, better remove the one of Ciph, ha,ha...
TheClemster - 1/29/2014, 10:00 AM
so does that mean that DannyBoy is frustrated because he has a tiny pee-pee????

Congrats on being #1

and just for freedom of expression

batz11 - 1/29/2014, 10:03 AM
I deleted the Ciph pick, dropped me to #3 -- oh well, ha,ha
cipher - 1/29/2014, 10:06 AM
Haha, don't worry about it, batz. I don't know how some people expect to get through life without a bloody sense of humour.
McNyagano - 1/29/2014, 10:08 AM
"Not that IM3 crap where the hero jokes around right after his lover's "death"."

That's bullshit. When was Tony joking after Pepper fell into the fire?
