First Look At Stan Lee In THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Video Game

A new Yahoo article provides the first look at Stan Lee as a playable character in the game, and it also has details about what you need to do in order to unlock this very cool feature.

The special feature will be unlocked to anyone that pre-orders the game through Amazon.

Players can take on the role of Stan "The Man" Lee during his own special mission throughout Manhattan. While traversing New York City in the game world, players will be accompanied by Lee's famous witty banter.

This special mission, which involves tracking down pages of a lost manuscript. Morphing into a video game character required Lee to do photo shoots and lay down some voice tracks.

Stan Lee a few months back said that he would be a playable character in The Amazing Spider-Man video game and now you have your first look. The legendary comic book creator will be providing the voice and his playful banter that we know and love.

"I'm just a living cartoon. I couldn't believe it when I got the call from Activision. Then they asked would that be OK with me, would I want to do it. I shouted, 'Of course!' It sounded sensational."

"I didn't know if they made me look more like Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt. It's hard to know, and it must be hard for them to pick the right image for me because how could you reproduce this [face] accurately in just a game?"

"This wasn't easy for me, practicing all these moves. I'm just afraid when they see me do it, that may put Spider-Man in the shadows. I hope they don't have me looking too realistic and life-like. That would be tough for the Spider-Man fans. I swung through the city like an average guy would do, instead of giving it my usual derring-do."

"I'm like a prisoner in a cell marking the days off until I get the game. Every game Activision does, I am so impressed with the quality of it: the visuals, the sound, the imagination that they put into it. They are all true to the comic books, but they are all different enough from the comic books that it is a totally different experience."

Go beyond the movie to experience what it’s like to BE Spider-Man like never before. Set shortly after the events of Columbia Pictures’ new film, The Amazing Spider-Man throws New York City’s brand new hero back into free-roaming, web-slinging action, as he protects the Big Apple from a deluge of unimaginable threats. Experience the new Web Rush mechanic as Spidey twists his way through the NYC skyline with unprecedented speed and grace. The game’s original story also explores beautiful indoor environments, as you’ll encounter everything from skirmishes with everyday street thugs to pulse-pounding confrontations with Spider-Man’s most lethal foes.

AHAHAHAHA! Looks awesome...I can't believe he's 90 yrs old already...damn.....I hope he lives forever
mgeoff88 - 5/8/2012, 3:08 PM
That's awesome. He's going to have some pretty great lines, no doubt.

I also hope they brought Bruce Campbell back to narrate when you're playing as Spider-Man.
jessepostal - 5/8/2012, 3:10 PM
@jollem this isn't exclusive, and most company's don't do that anymore for obvious increase profits
PeterParker1991 - 5/8/2012, 3:13 PM
Cool. Maybe Black Cat can be a playable character as well.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 5/8/2012, 3:15 PM

hoodedjester - 5/8/2012, 3:36 PM

razor - 5/8/2012, 3:53 PM
LOVE Stan! Hate what he did to Jack Kirby...
Jollem - 5/8/2012, 3:58 PM
@Jessepostal - i do agree with you that most types of pre-order bonuses from gamestop, target, best buy, etc... do eventually come out as available dlc at some point in time. not always tho. i was talking with a gamestop employee and he told me that pre-order exclusive deals vary from what the publishers want to do and whoever is involved wants to do for each game that comes out. obviously a company's goal is to make money but things happen sometimes.

my personal bad experiences with exclusive exclusives.

there was a couple extra chapters added to the campaign in gears of war 1 that you could only play on the pc. never to come out for purchase in the xbox marketplace.
in gears 2 there were gold plated skins for guns that you could only get from having pre-ordered a certain edition of the game. never to come out for purchase as dlc later.
you could never purchase the joker playable character and challenge maps for the 360.
i'm not a sports guy, but i love playing fight night champion online. the young george foreman character was only for an amazon, best buy, or wal-mart pre-order. never to be available for purchase online yet.

i'm hoping this does come out for purchase online at some point, although i was more irked that i already had the game pre-ordered at gamestop.

Worth the 60 bucks alone.
jessepostal - 5/8/2012, 4:12 PM
@jollem ooo ur talking pc? That's a totally diff shannanigan, n yes u are correct with that buy the games you mention are older titles and there is a difference with cross platform exclusives. As for exclusives on a certain system it will come out as a paid download, every game comes with a bonus these days
jessepostal - 5/8/2012, 4:24 PM
If its exclusive to ps3 it's exclusive to ps3, if it's exclusive to an amazon preorder give it a month and it'll b available for a few bucks
Greengo - 5/8/2012, 4:31 PM
I seriously doubt Stan is nimble enough at his age to swing around on webbing that high in the air.
GiantNerd - 5/8/2012, 4:40 PM
One of the coolest human beings ever.

I can wait to swing around as Stan the Man.
Jollem - 5/8/2012, 4:41 PM
@Jessepostal - yeah, all these exclusives can be a bit of a bother. i would say that i have a collector's drive so if i want to invest in whatever franchise i'm interested in, it becomes a pain sometimes.
my concern is, in fight night champion there was separate kinds of content through gamestop and then a character specific only to amazon, best buy, and wal-mart that never came out for purchase later.
really tho, if stan does come out as dlc later for free or purchase later, i'm probably only gonna play as him for a handful of chuckles and go back to spidey:)

my main concern is that i hope they make the web-swinging mechanic something more like spider-man 2.

jessepostal - 5/8/2012, 4:51 PM
@jollem what system r u playing fight night on? Pc players almost always get the shaft on dulce. But on occasion they get some great material that no one else gets
spectre88 - 5/8/2012, 4:53 PM
@Mrcool210 - Amazon is an online store buddy. I'm sure they ship to you. Don't they?
Jollem - 5/8/2012, 5:18 PM
fight night on 360. i got face-punchin' skills:)
friend of mine put together a pc i got just for gaming. never been a pc gamer at all until just recently. got the pc really just for gta 5 because i was impressed with the multiplayer in gta 4 and you can get twice as many people in a pc game compared to consoles. i only have battlefield 3 for the pc, but i'll probably be playing that until gta 5 comes out. and i do use a 360 controller and not a keyboard/mouse.
i think that may be a thing you get stoned in the middle of town square for doing:)
yeah, you get better deals with pc gaming usually compared to consoles.
thedude2936 - 5/8/2012, 5:32 PM
lol man, one more reason why i love Stan the Man, I wish he was my grandpa
JDUKE25 - 5/8/2012, 5:42 PM This will be pretty sweet
HULK2099 - 5/8/2012, 5:46 PM
I'm gonna play the whole story with him ! Lol
Amazo - 5/8/2012, 5:48 PM
Should have had Ditko swinging around.
SymbioteSpidey1 - 5/8/2012, 5:58 PM
jessepostal - 5/8/2012, 6:14 PM
@jollem i look at it this way, i have a ps3 and a fast graphic friendly pc. Xbox games are also 99 percent of the time for pc as well. So you have the best of both worlds. I use a 360 controller as well so ill be getting stoned with ya bro haha. The pc is great to have cuz you change alot of the settings you wouldnt be able to on a console version. Plus to top it all you can do like i did and turn your pc into an arcade machine. Throw hyperspin and some emulators on there and you have a gamers wet dream. Can i post pics of it on here?
Mrcool210 - 5/8/2012, 7:49 PM
@spectre88 no, they dont :(
