Besides Felipe Sanchez supplying Film Sketchr with his costume illustrations he also provided some insight behind the designs
"I was thrilled to work on style lines, web patterns and color blocks for the suit, gloves, boots and mask, but I have to say: What impressed me the most about working on Spider-Man was the 'full circle' journey the ideas for the suit took from the original, vintage character to the end result. The exploration started with a broad scope of possibilities using Organic Life morphed with Advanced Technology, followed by a focus on Active Speed-Sport gear, then refined and developed to a plausible, Peter Parker invention. The concept coverage left no stone unturned for the 'right new look.'"

"The payoff: A new suit design emerged with the Classic Formula respected, updated and enhanced. It was a great experience to be able to participate proactively through all the creative stages." - Felipe Sanchez

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field, the film is now playing at your local theater!

The costume the went with in The Amazing Spider-Man was... ok.

I hated the yellow eyes but you couldn't really tell in the movie. The crome sneakers also bothered the shit out of me but I only recall seeing them maybe once or twice in the movie. Everything else about the costume was alright. Still think they could have done better though.

Also, that first concept above is just [frick]ing awful.
Antoin - 7/24/2012, 1:46 PM
Nice idea. Just looks like chunder :p
TheGambitFreak - 7/24/2012, 1:47 PM
The last one is actually better than the official design.
TheGambitFreak - 7/24/2012, 1:47 PM
It just needs a spider on the back.
CoolantTech - 7/24/2012, 1:47 PM
Most of em are pretty awful
JoeMomma29 - 7/24/2012, 1:50 PM

This is what the first two designs look like to me:
sbdc1939 - 7/24/2012, 2:06 PM
wow those suck, except for the last one
Ha1frican - 7/24/2012, 2:09 PM
I love the whole "Come at me bro" pose he's doing X-D

Remember folks that these people are tasked with showing a book full of sketches that range from spot on to way out there. Some of these idea's aren't really serious. Some are pure experimentation. You would never hand in several sketches that are practically the same.
TheSoulEater - 7/24/2012, 2:16 PM
I like the fourth one.

The first one looked like a Gaga back up dancer for a music vid
OdinsBeard - 7/24/2012, 2:23 PM
take your liberties with other characters but it's my belief that Superman and Spider-Man are the only ones that need to remain largely unchanged for their movie appearances. both of their new movies succeed in the costume department.

Marc Webb: We have a wheel we need created.
Felipe Sanchez: No, we need to reinvent it for the modern era.
Marc Webb: But... its a wheel.
Felipe Sanchez: I'm an artist. Go away.
ibravosp5 - 7/24/2012, 2:31 PM
What were they thinking
comiccow6 - 7/24/2012, 2:31 PM
Should have released these before the movie. Would have gotten a lot less hate on the costume.
McGribble - 7/24/2012, 2:31 PM
First and second ones, brought to you by the morons who designed the Tim Burton Superman suit!

They put these out to make us thankful they went with the bastardized version in the movie, which is mostly indistinguishable from the Ditko version (other than the material). They passed up on a real opportunity to out-do Raimi by putting the classic suit in a film. As a rule, I'm a "function over fashion" kind of guy. But this is the exception, no Nike for Spidey.
musashi - 7/24/2012, 2:39 PM
I wasn't a big fan of the movie costume (especially the frikken shoes! What's that all about??) but looking at that first design, I see that it could have been a LOT worse!

I don't mind the last design though. Would like to see it with some colours.

Neon glow in the dark Spidey? Um, no thanks!
CaptainObvious - 7/24/2012, 2:44 PM
The first one is like if somebody did a Cosby Sweater on Spidey:)
travispipes - 7/24/2012, 2:47 PM
I don't know. . . I kinda see the idea behind the first one. I think that would have been kinda cool actually.

Some one has been eating mushrooms.
CaptainAmerica31 - 7/24/2012, 3:51 PM
That's disgusting lol. There are some concept arts that would've been better for the film.
mavel0madness - 7/24/2012, 3:52 PM
i actually didnt mind the costume we all have to accept that in the comics characters and costumes change over the years so i guess thats what is happening in the films
BatSlam - 7/24/2012, 3:55 PM
[frick]ing gross. i am glad they didn't use any of these. the movie one was ok in motion, the sneakers you didn't notice and the yellow eyes you couldn't tell much either. I also liked the way the costume moved on the person, it actually looked like just a normal spandexish suit and wasn't so stiff.

Honestly the thing that bugged me the most was the back on the suit. between the shoulder blades where the red looked like it was just cut out, that looked dumb.
Jollem - 7/24/2012, 4:08 PM
i didn't mind the changes to tim burtons batman suit from the comics. didn't mind all the changes to thor's suit from the comics. didn't mind all the changes to iron man's suit that was different from the comics. don't mind the new superman suit. didn't care about the changes with nolan's batman suit. it just doesn't really matter to me if it looks one hundred percent like it did in that one specific comic or that one specific cartoon or whatever.

people like that last suit? people were spitting up and crapping themselves over the lines down the legs in garfield's suit. look at the lines on the thighs in the last suit. and on the back. people would have spit up and crapped themselves more :)

The first looks like a design from Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth.
