Marc Webb And Stan Lee Discuss THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Sequel

Marc Webb And Stan Lee Discuss THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Sequel

Although Marc Webb teases the introduction of some well-known comic book characters in The Amazing Spider-Man sequel, the following video interview is worth watching simply because it features the director talking to the legend that is Stan "The Man" Lee about Peter Parker's parents.

While nothing major is revealed in the following interview, who doesn't enjoy seeing the legendary Stan "The Man" Lee in action? In this video interview from the official Facebook page of The Amazing Spider-Man, Marc Webb teases the introduction of some well-known comic book characters (presumably Electro, Mary Jane Watson and Norman and Harry Osborn) as well as the promise of answered questions about Peter Parker's parents. This leads us into a very interesting discussion between Webb and Lee as they talk about both the creation and importance of Richard and Mary Parker. Check it out below and be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Sally Fields as Aunt May

RELEASE DATE: May 2nd, 2014.

Shit sequel.
FOOM - 11/13/2012, 3:29 PM
Stan, don't indulge this tool. You should be at least annoyed that he wants to meddle with and change cannon on the big screen to the degree that Webb does. The story of Peter's parents is of minor importance and interest in the Spidey universe. But hey, all exposure is good exposure and all publicity is good publicity, eh?
AC1 - 11/13/2012, 3:34 PM
@FOOM I suppose you'd prefer The Amazing Spider-Man to have been exactly like Raimi's first film? The best adaptations aren't the ones that carbon copy the source material - they're the ones that reimagine the source material in creative and intelligent ways while still remaining faithful to it's core mythology. The Amazing Spider-Man did that brilliantly.
jimpinto24 - 11/13/2012, 3:36 PM
Stan Lee is awesome!
Funsize - 11/13/2012, 3:37 PM
I wonder what the sequel is about. I could care less about his parents though. They were SHIELD agents and Sony doesnt have the rights to SHIELD so they might change the backstory unless they decide to crossover with the MCU :)
Tainted87 - 11/13/2012, 3:38 PM
To his credit, Webb did give Stan his best cameo to date.
Spideyguy94 - 11/13/2012, 3:39 PM
stan lee is such an awesome person, i hope i get the chance to meet him one day.
MyInnerDork - 11/13/2012, 3:39 PM
Enough with the crossover wants of Spidey and the MCU because it's not gonna happen. And enough of the bashing of changes to characters and story already. This is the movie universe and it will ALWAYS be a little different than the comic universe because they are different forms of media. Deal with it and enjoy it for once.

With all due respect, that IS strictly a matter of opinion. ;-)
CaptainAmerica31 - 11/13/2012, 3:57 PM
I can't see the video:( anyways this movie better be good or else I'm losing faith in it entirely
Mego - 11/13/2012, 4:10 PM
The Not So Amazing Spider-Man Suckquel!
Ryguy88 - 11/13/2012, 4:11 PM
I didn't catch this in theatres but I bought the Bluray last week and I liked it, almost as much as Raimi's first 2 movies. It wasn't as fresh and exciting but the characters felt deeper and the world seems a little more serialized as opposed to episodic. I'm looking forward to the sequel!
M3T4LL0 - 11/13/2012, 4:22 PM
Why did my comment get deleted?? It was not offensive or anything. Talk about picky...
Rowsdower - 11/13/2012, 4:36 PM
Webb is looking at him the way the young kids that work at rest homes look at the old people.
Jollem - 11/13/2012, 4:41 PM
notice how stan lee doesn't have any fanboy rage going on with webb's version of the spider-man

i'm excited to see where marc goes with the sequel

@ACira - good stuff

@MyInnerDork - yup
webheaded - 11/13/2012, 4:45 PM
Shit sequel? wtf? They haven't even began filming! It really gets on y nerves when people hate just to hate...
Bring on the sequel!
CaptainObvious - 11/13/2012, 4:47 PM
I don't remember Peter's parents ever being important.
TheOneAboveAll - 11/13/2012, 4:58 PM
What ever happened to Grif's comments?
BTW does anyone know what movies Grif considered or considers good?
gambgel - 11/13/2012, 5:05 PM
This sequel will be great, as the first one.

interested in how Marc will introduce Mary Jane and how Peter deals with his two big loves in the same movie
XavierLehnsherr - 11/13/2012, 5:06 PM
I remember when webshooters were "re-imagined" and all the little bitches cried.
Dax - 11/13/2012, 5:17 PM
I'm so excited for this. I know some don't think so, but I thought that the way Spidey was portrayed in ASM was a definitive version of the character that I resonated with so much while reading the books as a little kid.
superherofan21 - 11/13/2012, 5:20 PM
Wow. It's amazing (no pun intended) to see these two legends next to each other, talking about a character they hold near and dear to their hearts. Stan is so awesome. Great man, too. And I love what Webb has done with TASM. I'm very much looking forward to the sequel!
SugarYumYum - 11/13/2012, 5:21 PM
Just saw this last night actually. :D Agree with Ryguy that it didn't feel fresh at all (obviously due to the reboot coming so soon) but it was enjoyable and I'm looking forward to seeing where they go with it. The Raimi movies will always be the one closest to me being such a part of my childhood but with this reboot being so different it's easier for me to accept it.

@TheOneAboveAll: Unfortunately Grif is no longer among us. God bless his soul. :( I remember he liked Conan and Avengers (I think).
WeaponX7785 - 11/13/2012, 5:24 PM
It's beyond assinine that they are not only changing Electro's race but they are casting someone who doesn't look the least bit like Mary Jane! WTF is wrong with movie casting teams!!
SAT - 11/13/2012, 5:30 PM
@FOOM, @WeaponX7785 Cuz TDKR was soo accurate to the source.
thewonderer - 11/13/2012, 6:02 PM
No CBM ever has been very accurate to its source with the exception of probably watchmen and a very few others.

With that said, TASM sucked ass
Dax - 11/13/2012, 6:12 PM
Aside from the absent wrestling scene (which, c'mon, that scenario is even a stretch for a CBM), ASM was actually a damn good modern representation of Amazing Fantasy 15 and the original Amazing Spider-Man comics. I know this because I just read Amazing Fantasy 15 and ASM 1-10. :p
bbarber2323 - 11/13/2012, 6:21 PM
Is Grif dead?
mapleleafsfan93 - 11/13/2012, 6:42 PM
electro nooooooo i want venom
TheToecutter - 11/13/2012, 7:06 PM
What about JJJ?
MrCameron - 11/13/2012, 8:11 PM
As long as they get Bruce Willis to play JJJ I'll be one happy fanboy :P
bobevanz - 11/13/2012, 8:14 PM
I second TheWallCrawlingMenace's comment :)
dancingmonkey08 - 11/13/2012, 8:30 PM
I hope we get Peter going out with Mary Jane in the sequel, complete with "face it tiger, you hit the jackpot" scene. Peter goes out with her so he can leave Gwen alone (I hope he honors her father's wishes to leave Gwen out of everything, I will ignore that crappy line about promises being broken). He realises Mary Jane is too superficial for him which pushes him back to Gwen. They get together at the end of the movie and Mary Jane becomes a friend to the two of them, so she can comfort Peter in the third one after Gwen dies! Not too hard to do, do it Webb!

then stick Black Cat in a fourth movie and Mary Jane as a proper love interest for 5 and 6

also set up the Sinister Six from Amazing Spider-Man 2 to 5 and have Spidey go up against his worst threat of the Sinister Six in a sixth movie

then stick him in an Avengers 4 or 5 or something like that. I would rather see Spider-Man grow up a bit and learn to be an adult before he is fit to join the Avengers
thewonderer - 11/13/2012, 8:33 PM
Just like your beloved Howard the Duck

I can bring up a random example too
Kevinwillpeabodyproperties - 11/13/2012, 9:26 PM
Spider-Man will not be in the avengers neither 2 or 3. It's just not happening sadly
Becuz his powers would look absolutely amazing in the hands of whedon, I can just picture young Parker in awe of tony stark and his genius and awesomeness. And just [frick]in with cap just to [frick] with him lol

evilness - 11/13/2012, 10:40 PM
i thought tasm was enjoyable. better than spidey 1 & 3. not as good as spidey 2.

spidey 2 had its flaws too though.

still waiting for that epic masterpiece spidey film.
Ichaos - 11/14/2012, 1:15 AM
I don't really care about answers about Peter's Parents. I want to see a Spiderman movie not more boo hoo my parents hate me drama
Jer3miah - 11/14/2012, 4:22 AM
Marc Webb was totally frontin' his interest in this interview, lol.

That moment you dont really have much of a response to someone's statement and you just brush it off as: "...yeah."
