Fun Rumor I Heard About The Amazing Spider Man

Not news at all but a fun rumor I heard from some out of the loop fans around campus

Earlier today I happened to be at the union on campus when a group of guys sat down at the table next to me. Oddly enough they happened to be talking about the Marvel movies, The Avengers, and other up coming Comic Book Movies. Sadly, they were all very misinformed. But being curious and kind of a creeper, I decided to listen in and see if anything they said was something I haven't heard yet.

Now just to start off, I found out later on that none of these guys go around looking for information on sites like this. They never really said where they heard these "rumors" but they claimed to be telling others around campus the "news".

So, getting into the "rumors".

1. They claimed that they heard that the new Spider-Man movie was going to be part of the newly formed Marvel Cinematic Universe. They claimed (which makes since if you haven't read anything contrary) that it only makes sense that this Spider-Man movie was part of the universe or why else would it be being made so soon after the last series of Spider-Man movies. One of them also said that he had read something on the internet saying that this Spider-Man movie was taking more of the Ultimate route, much like the other Marvel Studios movies.

Obviously, where they were wrong on this is that Spider-Man can't be in the MCU because he is owned by another studio. As much sense as they made, they were just horribly misinformed. But, being a nice guy and not wanting to crush them, I didn't say anything about how wrong they were or anything.

2. Similar to the Spider-Man rumor, they also talked about the new Wolverine movie would lead into the MCU, also. They said that they heard that this film was ignoring the previous movie (which is right) and that they wanted to make a real Wolverine movie. A few of them said that because of Wolverine and Spider-Man being introduced in this new Universe, that Marvel had a plan to make Avengers 2 into a New Avengers movie instead of just having the same characters from the first movie. They made sense honestly stating that if they were to make a second Avengers movie, why not have a different team. That way the first Avengers team could break apart and have their own movies afterward.

I then asked them about the other New Avenger members like the Thing, Luke Cage and Miss Marvel. Oddly enough, they had heard rumors about a new Fantastic Four movie that woudl also be in the MCU, as well as a Luke Cage movie staring the OLD SPICE GUY! I know I know, its fun! They also had said that they heard a rumor about the Kree-Skrull War in the Avengers movie and that Marvel would introduce Miss Marvel that way.

All in all, as misinformed about some of these rumors as they were, these plans would make sense and honestly, if all of these properties were part of the MCU, this movie could be a possibility.

I just thought y'all would have a nice little chuckle out of this. I sometimes forget (because i frequent this website daily) that other fans don't always have the best information and this is how "rumors" like these end up happening. It is weird to think how many people really have no idea what the hell is really going on with these movies outside of the community of people that come to this site and others like it.

Let me know that y'all think

I wolud actually like to see that in the MCU but since Spidey's movies are always owned by a different company then they can't

Yeah...they clearly don't know what they're talking about.
Fox has been serious about doing The Wolverine from the get-go, and I highly doubt that Marvel got the rights at the last minute. Same with Spider-Man and Fantastic Four (although I heard the F4 reboot was dead right now at Fox).
I can see Old Spice Guy being Luke Cage though.

They probably got the Spider-Man idea from the comments section, of the trailer, on Youtube. The idea that The Amazing Spider-Man will be part of the MCU, that is.

Ya know college kids smoke alot of weed and drink lots of beer? They were probably stoned when they said this.

I saw a logo a short time back for AmazingSM that had Marvel Studios printed above it. I thought it was fan-made at the time, but this appeared in the past few weeks and now I'm wondering if it was an "in Association With" type of thing. You all keep talking about rights, but are none of you considering maybe a studio collaboration? Sony has been posting massive losses from their entertainment divisions the past 3 years or so. It isn't very far-fetched to consider they have wizened up to what Marvel is doing and how successful they are at it and now want a piece of the pie.

"I just thought y'all would have a nice little chuckle out of this." ~ Couldn't find the funny part.

"But, being a nice guy and not wanting to crush them, I didn't say anything about how wrong they were or anything." ~ I feel the same way, haha, good going man. Sometimes I wonder why people can't tell fact from rumor. Couple minutes of searching Google ain't hard.

While it's not going to happen, all of us can hope that Fox and Sony could atleast partner with Disney for a crossover.

this is funny. I'm not sure i would have been able to contain myself. I might have had to turn around and tell them they're wrong, lol.

The Spider-Man/MCU rumor has been going around for a few months, but I can't see it happening.

people are talking about a possible studio collaboration, but that will never happen. Its never happened in the history of film. name one time its happened.

neither studio would want to share profits, because they're corporate pricks.

@CorndogBurglar

Wasn't there a joint studio collaboration for Alien vs. Predator?

Anyways, I used to believe that TAS was going to be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the absence of the Marvel logo in the trailer has pretty much said otherwise. Marvel/Sony would have made an announcement by now if it were true.

And regarding the fact that the movie is leaning more towards the Ultimate Universe... that is complete B.S. So far the only thing that is even remotely Ultimate inspired is Peter's father constructing the webshooters. Everything from the fact that Gwen Stacy is the love interest to the Lizard being a main villain to the goddamn [frick]ing TITLE is strictly 616.

if it was me I would've crush their hopes about that rumor. (being a guy who likes to be right most of the time)I don't want to hurt them because I want the same thing they want, hell it can be like civil war and have iron man and cap try to win over spider-man.
golden123 - 7/29/2011, 8:57 AM
@EsseXFactor: Marvel Studios doesn't have the rights to Spider-Man, but they are still a part of the making of the film. Marvel Studios doesn't just sit back and let Sony/Fox figure out things.
the1egend1ives - 7/29/2011, 9:44 AM
@golden123

You really think Marvel willingly just let Fox murder one of their most respected and prized villains: Dr. Doom? The differences in quality between Marvel films and Fox/Sony films suggests that Marvel doesn't have as much creative control as you think.
ChaosFreak - 7/29/2011, 11:23 AM
I think it could be true. Columbia's going out of business.
Sithsidious66 - 7/29/2011, 3:04 PM
Spider-Man will become a Marvel Cinematic Universe resident in 2070

@CorndogBurglar-- WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT

But meh, Sony would have mentioned it by now if they were going into a joint franchise with Marvel Studios. Just to generate more interest. It's sad cause despite the terrible costume design, this is the Spider-Man I would have wanted as a part of the MCU.

And no way to the New Avengers. Way too much needs to happen before that. Marvel is obviously trying to re-establish it's original all-star line up.
SpideyFan101 - 11/16/2011, 4:56 PM
To be honest, there are several signs that point to Spidey being in the MCU. Maybe Sony and Marvel made a secret deal and it's a surprise? (I know this is just wishful thinking) But Disney did just buy the toy rights and stuff from Sony, and I think they bought Sony as well, but I could be mistaken.
