EDITORIAL - Speculation on Who This Car Thief in "The Amazing Spider-Man" is.

So, most of us have already seen the new TASM clips. Here's what I think who this car thief is. - FriendlyJoShFest

Since the first issue of Spider-Man came out back in 1962, we all know that Peter Parker's uncle (Ben Parker) was killed by a common thief. We even got to see how this event was ravaged by the third Spider-Man movie from the Raimi trilogy, where we were told that the actual killer was Flint Marko(a.k.a Sandman), upsetting fans all over the globe, including me.

Since the story of the character can only be altered so much, we already know that Uncle Ben is going to die before Peter becomes Spider-Man. In the first Raimi movie Uncle Ben was killed by a carjacker (Carradine) who could have been stopped by Peter but he chose not to. Originally he was killed by a burglar named Carradine, but that's the premise itself.

So, like I said before, the story can't be changed that much, whether this Carradine is going to be a carjacker, a burglar or whatever, he is the man that's going to kill Uncle Ben and that's a given fact.

My theory is that this guy who we see in the second "The Amazing Spider-Man" trailer, could be Carradine himself and I'm going to show you why I believe that's him.

In one of the pictures from the trailer we see Peter in his room sewing what will later be his Spider-Man suit. But if we look closely, we can see a sheet of paper hanging from his wall where we see the police sketch of a burglar(or carjacker according to the trailer).

This "wanted person" could be anyone, except by the fact that if his mugshot is there in Peter's room, is probably someone important...even if he's only a carjacker.I mean, if this common thief had killed someone important for you, wouldn't you do something about it if you had the power? So that leads me to believe that perhaps he's only a common thief for the police, but Uncle Ben's killer for Peter.

This is only a theory, but I really believe that this guy from the picture is Carradine, besides he does resemble an awful lot to the car thief in the trailer. So think about it, if this was true, wouldn't you all be trash-talking this guy as you humiliate him as well?

Agreed. Nice article buddy. Much better insight than mine. I hadn't realised the picture in front of Peter, is the car thief.

Okay, that's a good theory EXCEPT, I'd say that Spidey's having fun - because this whole confrontation takes place before he finds out about Uncle Ben's murder. I think he becomes Spider-Man before Ben dies.

I thought the poster was for Spider-Man... the early costume that he wears with the sunglasses that we've seen one image of.
superherofan21 - 4/3/2012, 9:38 PM
It seems like it might be true. Good theory!

Good eye. I think you're right. But I hope the film editor is cutting shit out because the clip show the film to be quite a cluttered mess.

you have a detective nose, nice job

I'm with @mrhulksmashin and @frogman on this one... If uncle Ben was the closest thing to a father for Peter, he wouldn't be having such a great time with him, that picture must be of him, so he decides to make his costume.

yeah that pic has got to be of pete. and yeah if uncle ben was dead before this scene and this guy is his killer that would be the absolute worst way to dipict what is suposed to be a very important and emotional scene. you clearly have no idea what your talking about.

sorry, try again later....

Coming in to this article, I thought you were going to give some stupid theory on how this car thief is going to be the villain Rhino, or something stupid like that. Glad to see I was wrong.

3D ya it was quickly put together from what I've heard, watch the bathroom clip and you'll notice that the toothpaste sounds like his web shooters; but his web shooters sound different in the trailer.

If I knew that was my father figure's killer I'd be ripping his face off, not taunting him like a jackass. Raimi's origin attempted to show Peter's anger.

So I think this is just a common thug. Not sure where Uncle Ben's death falls in though, we'll have to wait and see.
mayo23 - 4/5/2012, 11:33 PM
Here's what I think. That thug is Uncle Ben's killer and there will be 2 encounters between him and Spider-man. The first encounter, Spidey's still new at being a vigilante, his uncle has just died and he's out beating up bad guys. He thinks it's just a random thug at first, but then he realises that the guy looks familiar and that it's uncle ben's killer. There's a close up on Spider-man's face in the trailer which I think will lead into this and there's also a magazine shot from a few months ago of spidey with his hand on the thug's face (there were a few batman jokes made then). However, before he can exact revenge/justice a cop shows up and Spidey gets away. Second encounter, now realizing that the thug was uncle ben's killer finally captures the thug, giving him a wedgie in front of the police building.
webslinger2099 - 4/6/2012, 5:36 PM
i think its a random guy that spidey fights. because in the comics he kills the guy by accident.and in the trailer #2 you see spidey flip over the cop with the gun and the car stealer is tied up so it cant be uncle bens killer
webslinger2099 - 4/6/2012, 5:38 PM
also it looks like its taking pieces from the ultimate comics
mayo23 - 4/6/2012, 6:47 PM
No, I'm pretty sure that's Uncle Ben's killer. I don't think a random thug would have as much screen time and attention as this guy's been getting.

Besides, in Amazing Fantasy #6, uncle ben's killer is arrested by the cops.

Check the images here. There will be 2 encounters, most likely.

Do not forget to buy extended warranty of your car; if the car warranty is expired you should renew it as soon as possible before you have to go for car repair.
