Sally Field Hasn't Seen Any Of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Films

The actress that plays Peter Parker's Aunt May in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man series recently revealed on the Late Show with David Letterman that she didn't actually see the original movie, but adds that she does plan on seeing the sequel. Check it out!

Some fans might not prefer her portrayal of Aunt May over Rosemary Harris's version, and she doesn't have anywhere near as big of a role as Harris's, but Sally Field is still a great addition to the cast of Marc Webb's Spider-Man franchise. When Field was on the Late Show with David Letterman the other night, the actress admitted to not seeing a single Spider-Man film. Watch the humorous video, where she was also surprised at the movie's Box Office success, below...

"In “The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2,” for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner, with a previous draft by James Vanderbilt, and based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are the producers. The latest chapter in the Spider-Man story is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014."

Starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro, Sally Fields as Aunt May, Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, and Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich/The Rhino, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is already out in the international countries and will soon hit US theaters on May 2nd, 2014.

JordanKing - 4/24/2014, 9:10 AM
She didn't miss much.
DrDoom - 4/24/2014, 9:17 AM
Glad she didn't waste her time.

"Her portrayal of Aunt May might not be as well received by fans as Rosemary Harris's version"

Really? I think she's much better as May. After Garfield and Stone, I named hers as the best performance in the movie, even if her role wasn't monumental:

Each to their own opinion though.
AlexanderLykins - 4/24/2014, 9:19 AM
Sorry if I wasn't clear. It's a Marvel Studios day, not Marvel in general.
KarolosPrime - 4/24/2014, 9:20 AM
Saw TASM 2 today and it was AMAZING!!!
Nomis - 4/24/2014, 9:26 AM
I'd wish i'd hadn't seen the last one also.
SuperCat - 4/24/2014, 9:36 AM
The first 2 Raimi films are the only ones she needs to see.

Doopie - 4/24/2014, 9:37 AM
Field's performance was one of the better things about the film
batz11 - 4/24/2014, 9:39 AM
Kill her fanboys!
cipher - 4/24/2014, 9:40 AM
I liked Field.
MexicanSuperman - 4/24/2014, 9:40 AM
The Aunt May in the Rami's Spiderman movies was way to old to be Peter's Aunt. She was more of a Grandmother.
Nomis - 4/24/2014, 9:41 AM
@ McNyagano - One of the BEST scenes and speeches EVER in a Comic Book movie!

I love sally Field... but I'm sorry, her Aunt Mary is weak. As was everythign in that first 'Amazing Spiderman' movie.
MexicanSuperman - 4/24/2014, 9:42 AM
In TASM, I feel like Aunt May suspects Peter is Spiderman. Does anyone else agree?
grif - 4/24/2014, 9:42 AM
and marc webb has not seen any spider-man comics.
ProfessorX - 4/24/2014, 9:42 AM
I don't blame her.
CoulsonLives - 4/24/2014, 9:44 AM
LOL I'm surprised! I didn't know that. I like her Aunt May more by the way.
She acts more like a human being LOL
McNyagano - 4/24/2014, 9:44 AM

Agreed. Aunt May in the new franchise is just there. In Raimi's trilogy she was a guiding light and Peter's voice of reason. She was just perfect!
CoulsonLives - 4/24/2014, 9:45 AM
Don't you mean read? Anyone can see a Spider-Man comic LOL
cipher - 4/24/2014, 9:45 AM
I still like Rosemary more, though.
CoulsonLives - 4/24/2014, 9:53 AM
At least this Aunt May knew who Spider-Man was. The old aunt May couldn't tell if Spider-Man was her nephew, especially since Tobey Maguire has a unique voice.
themidnightking - 4/24/2014, 9:54 AM
I'm going to have to check this movie out again, I probably judged it a little too harshly.
@mexicansuperman I picked up on that too, especially at the end.
CoulsonLives - 4/24/2014, 9:54 AM
Yeah, some dialogue in the Raimi films felt scripted.
QuestiontheAnswer - 4/24/2014, 10:15 AM
There's no profound speeches by Aunt May in TASM, pretty much a side character who's their for the sake of it.
CoulsonLives - 4/24/2014, 10:16 AM
I would describe TASM2 with this quote:

"I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet, but your kids are gonna love it!"
KallarkKent - 4/24/2014, 10:31 AM
She wasn't talking about the Raimi's films, she hasn't seem TASM and TASM2. Team Rosemary.
captainireland - 4/24/2014, 10:36 AM

Haha! Nice.
TheDarkPassenger - 4/24/2014, 11:14 AM
Aunt May is a cameo in these new films. Sally Field is good, but I wish there was more of her.
SimyJo - 4/24/2014, 11:14 AM

Nuff' said.
Ramiel - 4/24/2014, 11:42 AM
I like both versions of Aunt May. The newer version is cuter though ;)
JediPhilosopher - 4/24/2014, 11:44 AM
Dat... Oops, yep, I agree, nuff said. :P
But I don't think she even looks like Aunt May.
TheBeard - 4/24/2014, 12:12 PM
didn't miss much
SimyJo - 4/24/2014, 12:34 PM
As seen at the reboot's premiere:

See now you feel weird admitting that yeah.... you'd do Aunt May. ^^
BlackestKnight - 4/24/2014, 5:20 PM
MrFridayNights we all saw it coming, but SPOILER MAYBE?
BlackestKnight - 4/24/2014, 5:21 PM
Rosemary's may was way better
MightyZeus - 4/25/2014, 1:31 AM
