SPOILERS: Making A Digital Spidey For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 (Video)

SPOILERS: Making A Digital Spidey For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 (Video)

Visual effects company, Sony Pictures Imageworks, has released a new video detailing the work that their crew put into designing a believable digitalized Spidey for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Be warned, the video does contain some spoilers.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp...

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be directed by Marc Webb from a script written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. The film will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Jamie Foxx is Electro and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn. The Amazing Spider-Man sequel will swing into theaters May 2, 2014.

Have you seen it yet?
Brainiac13 - 5/2/2014, 3:57 PM

So what do you think of it........3/5 for me. My kids loved it.
Brainiac13 - 5/2/2014, 3:58 PM
I would love to watch it again.....but too bloody expensive. Cost me just less than £50 with 2 kids.
Brainiac13 - 5/2/2014, 4:00 PM

Yeah I know what you mean.......but was fun to watch.
prettynucIear - 5/2/2014, 4:02 PM
GREAT MOVIE. I haven't seen Spider-Man ever have this much fun. Sadly most people want him to mope around all day like in Spider-Man 2 instead of having fun.
valeriesghost - 5/2/2014, 4:08 PM
The video looks great. Can't wait to see it in 3D tomorrow.
BoosterGold1991 - 5/2/2014, 4:10 PM
I've seen it, very dissapointning movie, I hoped for better but let's see what the third sequel brings.
Dangermouse78 - 5/2/2014, 4:11 PM
They did an amazing job with the CGI on this film it's seamless. The web slinging scenes are some of best action you will see in any CBM, if not the best yet and easily the best of any Spider-Man film. Don't believe the overly negative haters on this site, the film isn't perfect but it's an entertaining Spider-Man film.
Ancar - 5/2/2014, 4:12 PM
Great job. And the movie is amazing, people were applauding at the end of the exhibition:)
McNyagano - 5/2/2014, 4:12 PM
Whoa:o So much work and detail. Props to them, the Spidey suit has never looked better than it did in this film.

Brainiac13 - 5/2/2014, 4:15 PM

Totally agree.

I would've loved if Spidey didn't knock GG out...and beat the crap out of him like in the comic but without killing him.

The fight was too short.
PAF - 5/2/2014, 4:15 PM
The only thing I really dislike about his suit is his damn boots. They look like wedge sneakers.
sinthegreat - 5/2/2014, 4:17 PM
Slow day for news
prettynucIear - 5/2/2014, 4:21 PM
props to andrew garfield, he's the best spider-man. cool, funny and not a geeky virgin like tobey maguire.
CaptainObvious - 5/2/2014, 4:31 PM
@prettynucIear- Peter Parker is supposed to be a geek. Why do you think nobody at school likes him? He's anything but cool.
BubblesShedAndBreakfast - 5/2/2014, 4:44 PM
Seeing it Sunday. I've heard mixed things about the movie but most seem to agree that the action parts are good. I'm trying to tell myself it's gonna suck so hopefully I'll be surprised and enjoy it. :)

Yeah! Science, bitch!

I honestly feel like I seen the movie, I watched all the trailers and tv spots numerous times, already know certain spoilers (insert name here) won't return for a sequel unless the lazerous pit from batman existed in the marvel universe, and I read on Wikipedia when the rhino shows up, I watched spidey battle the green goblin scene online and stopped it when it got to a certain spoiler type point and cut it off....I can say goblin is shortly in this movie....I was hoping for an epic long final battle and not a cool short one...I can say that I know I haven't seen all the movie but I can officially say I can piece together the plot, and if the plot is what I think it is then I honestly think that the green goblin should've been in the movie as the main bad guy and max Dillon should've been max Dillon the entire movie and have him turn into electro at the end.

this movie sucked :(
Comedian03 - 5/2/2014, 5:49 PM
Say what you want about this movie, but god damnit the visuals were out of this world.
AsgardianHobo - 5/2/2014, 5:53 PM

CyberInflames - 5/2/2014, 7:58 PM
Well, if that's the way you "enjoy" movies...good to you.

Nail biter writes an article and then tells a commenter to go phuck themselves over an opinion based comment? Class act. Old bitch.

First I want to say that for me the digital Spidey swinging through New York was BREATHTAKING! It's exactly how I would imagine he'd do it if he actually existed and it was damn near flawless. It made the whole web swinging look like more fun than crime-fighting. They did a great job on that.

As for the film, I really wanted this movie to work. Marc even retweeted three different art pieces I did related to the film. I was kind of bummed out that it didn't demand a second viewing like Cap2 did.

In retrospect I can't imagine how I thought it would, though.

The signs were all there, I guess I just got swept up on the coolness of those trailers.

It's almost like Sony wanted to jam as many villains as they could for the next films they'll be starting...they just forgot that we'd have to WANT to see them again so they didn't bother with any sort of development.

God, what a mess. It wasn't horrible, but I can't in good conscious recommend anyone rush to see it either. Not unless it's on cable or you can see it for free.

I think young kids would like it for the cool scenes it had, and anyone not concerned with a stable narrative or convincing development.

Oh and Garfield was a great Spider-man. Better than the one from the previous trilogy in my opinion. I'd like to take this Spider-man and put him in a film without so many agendas that required so much preparation for the future franchises.
CGD3 - 5/2/2014, 8:38 PM
I saw it in IMAX and I enjoyed the web swinging scene. Tomorrow I'm planning to see it in 4DX. It's a new experience. The seats move with the action onscreen. When Spiderman swings from skyscraper to skyscraper, audiences feel like they’re flying and falling, too. There is actual smoke and mist in the theater when police cars crash into an armored van in the streets of New York.
Mrcool210 - 5/2/2014, 9:22 PM
i can sort of see why people would have some problems with this movie, but i barely had any. I only had a problem with some cheesy lines here and there, some licensed song choices, and a couple plot holes here and there. But the movie is so much fun i didn't care, i felt like a 9 year old kid again. I haven't been this into a movie in so many years. The action, the acting, the special effects, the score, the last 20-30 minutes all of it. And for that for now it is my favorite comic book movie, you don't like it?
GiantNerd - 5/2/2014, 10:20 PM

I'm actually quite pleased with the news day.

Not to kiss ass too much but you're one of the best editors on this site. You and DCMarvelFreshman are my personal favorites. Like that you keep it real.

@Captain obvious

People at school thought Parker thought he was better than everyone else when in fact he was always distracted by his ill aunt or his problems as Spidey. Harry even hated him the first time they met because of that. But that's what made Gwen attracted to him in the first place. The fact he seemed so aloof.
batz11 - 5/2/2014, 10:49 PM
Nail brings some lightheartedness, sarcasm and humor to his articles, god forbid...agree Nerd and Pheez, two of the best...

It is not better than TASM 1!
Spider-Man 3 is better than TASM 2. That should tell you something.
