THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2: Marc Webb Releases Another Mysterious Production Photo

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2: Marc Webb Releases Another Mysterious Production Photo

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb has Tweeted yet another photo of a mysterious device from the sequel, although what exactly it is remains unclear at this point. Could it be what transforms Jamie Foxx's Max Dillon into Electro?! Check it out!

While the chamber in the following production still from the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 seems to resemble the one which transformed Norman Osborn into the Green Goblin in 2002's Spider-Man, the pose that director Marc Webb is performing makes me wonder whether this is actually where Max Dillon becomes Electro! Like most of the pictures released by the filmmaker, this reveals little about the film, but it does raise an awful lot of questions. Chances are that this is something totally mundane, but the set does seem to resemble what we've so far seen of Oscorp... What do you guys think? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Sally Fields as Aunt May

RELEASE DATE: May 2nd, 2014.

Well that's more than I got from it.
Greengo - 4/1/2013, 6:44 PM
Makes sense doe
soda9 - 4/1/2013, 6:53 PM
Looks line the chamber is open at the the top. Maybe Max is fixing something on the top, but accidentally falls in. Suddenly the top shuts and the chamber is activated. Boom. Electro is born.
Grayson7954 - 4/1/2013, 7:00 PM
doesnt look like the one that transformed gobby in 2002 spiderman. that one was angular, not even a cube, more like some abstract shape. this is a tube looking thing. could be electro tho
SuperDude001 - 4/1/2013, 7:10 PM
Probably Electro.
Though I'm kinda getting tired off the accidental transformation idea.
AmazingFantasy - 4/1/2013, 7:12 PM
@Soda9- Good theory.
MrReese - 4/1/2013, 7:13 PM
Its Rhinos holding cell ala Hulks cell in the Avengers. ;)
SmellofDuty - 4/1/2013, 7:19 PM
First thought was that it was Normans transformation thingy. Mostly because it was a white guy and not a Jamie Foxx stand-in.
ForeverPowerful - 4/1/2013, 7:20 PM
I wish Raimi was still doing this.

Spida, he'a joking you realise?

Betcha Max is snooping around and he falls down to get his powersz
santoanderson - 4/1/2013, 7:28 PM
I want to say that that's Webb laying down on the airbag. Could be wrong, but he does look like Webb.
polarkyle - 4/1/2013, 7:36 PM
it reminds me of what gave goblin his powers in spider man 1
THIS - 4/1/2013, 7:39 PM
Maybe it's where they put the suit on Rhino
TheWebSlinger - 4/1/2013, 7:46 PM
LEVITIKUZ, Oz was shit, so yea.. you can leave now.
CaptainAmerica31 - 4/1/2013, 8:12 PM
I agree with @Levi Raimi should be respected, Spidey and CBMs would not be here today without him. Although I do believe he is on a decline. Anyways, I think this is where maybe he turns to electro?? Or possibly the goblin chamber which could provide evidence that he is indeed the 616 version.
CaptainAmerica31 - 4/1/2013, 8:13 PM
@Spida he was making a joke dude
CaptainAmerica31 - 4/1/2013, 8:16 PM
I also noticed that there isn't as many spoilers and scene discriptions coming out for this, and or set photos. TASM at this time had a ton of info released and set photos practically showed up everyday

thewonderer - 4/1/2013, 8:28 PM
Anyone think Marc Webb looks a lot like Stephen Amell?

Asterisk - 4/1/2013, 8:30 PM
All the Spider-Man movies have sucked in their own right, and rocked in their own way. Yes, even Spidey 3.
mctrinket - 4/1/2013, 8:30 PM
Really makes me wish someone at Marvel would have had the foresight to never sell all their properties to these various hack studios.
thewonderer - 4/1/2013, 8:35 PM

Because Marvel Studios inherently makes better movies than them?

I would argue Spider-Man 2, X2, and X-Men First Class are better than anything Marvel Studios. Spider-Man and X1 being better than Cap,Thor, and Iron Man 2.

THIS - 4/1/2013, 8:48 PM
I agree. I'm glad the movies are spread out at different studios, that way we get more movies per year. But I don't see why everybody likes Spider-Man 2, it such a boring movie to me.
Doppelganger - 4/1/2013, 9:11 PM
I also agree Spiderman 2 was the best Spider man film so far. Dr. Octopus was the only spiderman world character that was done perfectly. Not only they get the best actor but he looked perfect. I also enjoyed the fight scene on the subway on the extended version of the film.
THIS - 4/1/2013, 9:19 PM
@Doppelganger but WHY! Spiderman 2 was SO boring! And he wasn't even genuinely evil like the comics. That's my least favorite Spidey film.
JerBear - 4/1/2013, 9:59 PM
Spider-Man 2 was extremely sappy. It felt like a romantic drama, which would work, if the 2 leads had more chemistry and charisma, and were written more realistically.
Ceejay - 4/1/2013, 10:40 PM
Oz the Great and Powerfull was fantastic, it not the kind of film I expect most who come here would appreciate so it's not surprising it s taking stick. But the movie was an excellent prequel to the Wizard of Oz.

Sam's done better movies than the Evil Dead trilogy, his spaghetti western homage 'The Quick and the Dead' is simply brilliant and his gothic comic book flick 'Darkman' was superb.
theowl - 4/1/2013, 10:56 PM
Transformation of Electro i think.. and does the new suit have black raised webbing? It sure looks that way :D
BIGBMH - 4/1/2013, 10:58 PM
Back to formula?!
SageMode - 4/1/2013, 10:59 PM
Sure no invisible reverse-cowgirl was goin on?
Platinum - 4/1/2013, 11:05 PM
Spider-Man 2 still the best spidey movie.

But what's with all the chemistry talk I keep hearing about.

Not every relationship has to have chemistry or have both people be perfect for each other. Ever hear of opposites attract?

The drama is in the conflict between two people, not in how perfect two people are for each other and how good they are at making googly eyes with each other.
Jollem - 4/1/2013, 11:09 PM
tasm is one of the best marvel movies so far
AmazingFantasy - 4/1/2013, 11:10 PM
" Back to formula?"
killerkooljames - 4/1/2013, 11:19 PM
I know?, after TASM2, Raimi can make Spider-Man 4!

No Spider-Man film will ever be as legendary as Spider-Man 2! EVER!!
RamonSuarez - 4/1/2013, 11:24 PM
People defending TASM make me laugh. That film was a mediocrity that rehashed Spidey's origin story without adding anything special or interesting. The premise of a well meaning mad scientist driven to an experiment was lame. I hope this film does better than the original.
Platinum - 4/1/2013, 11:33 PM
I don't blame Webb for the first one, all those important deleted scenes and the choppy editing pretty much scream heavy studio hand and the script was rushed and remade into TASM. So maybe he can make a good movie if Sony backs off this time.
Jollem - 4/1/2013, 11:37 PM
people attacking tasm make me giggle :)
jerryblake - 4/2/2013, 1:17 AM
Raimi movies won't stand the test of time. It's ok. Most of comic book movies don't. The characters where written like they where taken straight out of first Spiderman comic books
(Golden Age?). Peter is clumsy boy with a golden heart. He's not wise -cracker. He is a nerd. Clumsy, golden heart nerd. I'm not kinda related to that.

Webb movies are more Ultimate. Never been a fan, read first issues, didn't like it. But the characters are more updated.
Are more modern. Spiderman is wise-cracker now, he's not so much a nerd anymore, he can handle his shit without her aunt giving him moral lesson every five minutes. Kinda like a self made genius who know his value.

will Webb Spiderman stand the test of time ? Some parts of it, i hope so. I wouldn't want to watch TAS trilogy in 15 years from now, and say "Holy shit, it was bad. Raimi movies where so much better:)"
FOOM - 4/2/2013, 1:20 AM
^ Yeah, but Webb's Spidey take doesn't even stand the test of the present.
