VIDEO: Cinema Sins Piles On Sam Raimi's First SPIDER-MAN Movie

In preparation for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Cinema Sins have decided to rip apart the first ever live action Spider-Man film directed by Sam Raimi. Hit the jump to check it out!

Orphaned at an early age, Peter Parker (Maguire) lives in Queens, New York with his beloved Aunt May (Harris) and Uncle Ben (Robertson). Peter leads the life of a normal student, working as a photographer at the school paper, pining after the beautiful Mary Jane Watson (Dunst) and hanging out with buddy Harry Osborn (Franco). On a school trip, during which Peter and his classmates are given a science demonstration on arachnids, Peter is bitten by a genetically-altered spider. Soon after, he discovers that he has unusual powers: he is endowed with the strength and agility of a spider along with a keen, ESP-like "spider-sense." Peter first uses his powers to make money, but in the face of a tragedy that hits close to home, he vows to dedicate his life to fighting crime, taking to heart the words of his beloved Uncle Ben: "With great power comes great responsibility."Meanwhile, megalomaniacal businessman Norman Osborn (Dafoe), Harry's father, is undergoing some changes of his own. An experimental formula has gone awry, increasing his intelligence and strength but also driving him insane. He is now the Green Goblin, Spider-Man's arch-enemy, who will put young Peter Parker's vow to fight crime and help innocent people to the ultimate test. Based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

sKeemAn - 4/22/2014, 9:09 AM
With 2014 style and graphics SM would be even much much better TASM.
MrSotoMan - 4/22/2014, 9:16 AM
I love when people say

TASM is just like the Ultimates, it's just like the comics

What comic did you read!?
sKeemAn - 4/22/2014, 9:17 AM
This guy makes the first trilogy better than most of TASM alone

MrSotoMan - 4/22/2014, 9:21 AM
@sKeemAn- I don't understand why he couldn't make an appearance.

I thought Allistar Smythe & Felicia Hardy were pointless in TASM 2!
MrCBM56 - 4/22/2014, 9:48 AM
That's sorta the point DudeGuyMan.

The Amazing Spider-Man > Spider-Man

I liked the inclusion of Felicia & Alistair. Sure, they didn't do much, but you know they're going to have a bigger role later, so it's nice to get acquainted with the characters.

It's like Hawkeye in Thor. He didn't do much, but you're still like "Oh shit, that's Hawkeye", you know? To me, small roles/cameos like that are so much better than Easter Eggs, and I wish comic book movies would do it more.
CPIXLEY - 4/22/2014, 10:25 AM
These videos are always good.
TheGambitFreak - 4/22/2014, 10:50 AM
Wait... Did someone just say the Raimi series was for kids? Oh God... You are in for an adolescent treat then on May 2nd.

batz11 - 4/22/2014, 11:19 AM
The few scenes at the very end, LMAO (after the sin tally)

favorite Spider-man film!!!
"Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words
With great power comes great responsibility.
This is my gift, my curse.
Who am I ?
I'm Spiderman"

Hell, the opening credits of Spider-Man 2 alone are a better Spider-Man origin story than the entirety of TASM.
Titanace - 4/22/2014, 3:06 PM
Spiderman was the most excited I have ever been for a Took. Forever. To. Come!
marvel72 - 4/22/2014, 3:19 PM
still better than the amazing spider-man.
Dandy - 4/22/2014, 4:04 PM
Honestly I like The Amazing Spider-Man more than the first one. But Spider-Man 2 is still the best of the franchise.

Spider-Man is good and ushered in a new age of superhero films....but it is very flawed when you actually look at it.
marvel72 - 4/22/2014, 4:32 PM
@ dandy

there were things that i didn't like in the amazing spider-man

-the subway train scene
-peter parker skateboarding
-the costume
-vigilante spider-man
-ben parkers death
-no wrestling match origin
-no j.jonah jameson
-lizard design,no lab coat
-peter being a dick to his aunt & uncle

there is probably more but that's all i can think of right now.
CPBuff22 - 4/22/2014, 10:22 PM
The Amazing Spider-Man > Spider-Man 2 > Spider-Man > The Amazing Spider-Man 2 > Spider-Man 3
SkStarscream - 4/22/2014, 10:22 PM
Damn, watching this video just made me realize how shitty this movie is. Sure I get it, it was made a while back ago, so maybe that's why I dislike it now.
Dandy - 4/22/2014, 11:00 PM

I didn't say The Amazing Spider-Man was a perfect film.....I just said I liked it more than Spider-Man (2002).

Spider-Man 2 is still the best Spidey film.
Tainted87 - 4/22/2014, 11:35 PM
Still the best Spider-man.
kevberg - 4/22/2014, 11:52 PM
Raimi got it exactly right with the first two. yet people just bitch about the Goblin...

This was the origin as a Masterpiece.
TheUnknownX - 4/23/2014, 1:38 AM
They need to do Spider-Man 3, Now that would be hilarious
