Machinima just sent out a newsletter stating that they are hosting a live streaming Red Carpet event for The Amazing Spider-Man. Here's the info from the newsletter:

Saw the film earlier tonight.

It's not a bad movie, but that sense of excitement and wonder was sorely missing from it.

This Peter Parker is not, as I'd suspected, a nerd. He IS an outcast. And a bit of a rebel. This new take on him works.

But the directing was mostly very flat, and there is really nothing that's truly exciting or fun, save for a few moments in his first days as Spidey and portions of the climax.

There are also several leaps of logic which make no sense. (For instance [NO spoilers] Peter & Gwen are suddenly close for no good reason at all; Conners experiments on himself for reasons which are hard to define [his life had been threatened, but it didn't seem like THAT was the impetus; nor did the idea of saving the lives of others seem to be the reason]).

The origin itself actually captures the comics better than Raimi's film, but the film's actual STORY and the storytelling itself were weak.
