Spider-man Movie Retrospective: an opinionated In depth Look At the Web Heads five film franchise.

Throughout the year I am going to be making a six part article series that looks at Spider-man’s five film franchises [yes you heard me right folks five and a fanfilm] also explaining them with my own usual opinions, but backed up with valid points and recommendations. To make things also easier on myself, I will also be taking some videos, off of YouTube for points and interest. Talk about what I have found and hoping that you walk away with a little more knowledge, some excitement for the TASM2, and hopefully get something out of these films. So my plan schedule so far is this:

TASM [1977] - March 8th

SPIDER-MAN – May 3rd

SPIDER-MAN 2 – July 12th

SPIDER-MAN 3 – October 13th

TASM [2012]/ ENDING - December 12th

This being the introduction I’ll explore a few things in here, like the Fan Film form 1992 called goblin’s last stand, a very dark and faithful movie about the death of Gwen Stacy. In the film written, directed, and started Daniel Poole as Peter Parker / Spider-man, the effects are really good, and being made for under / around 500 million dollars, its interesting how it came out. The acting’s cheesy, but the goblin costume and performance with the real practical web-swinging are great. You can find a Link to Poole’s film here if you’re interested:

The film was originally made to showcase to James Cameron who at the time was working on spider-man, what you could do with the character. As interesting as it was to see, I would still love to see Carmon’s take on spider-man, to me it would of been epic to see, instead we got his and twenty five year’s worth of legal battles, broken promises, shifty deals and the Man who created the horror icon of Ash, Sam Rami’s incarnation ten years later, more on that when we get to it. For now I rate the fan film 6 our 10 Pumpkin Bombs’.
Ladies and True believers out there, I welcome you all, to Spider-man Retrospective.

Feel free to state your opinion on the film, and what do you think of the Spider-man movie retrospective?

movies okay, so who do you guys think makes the better Parker/Spidey? McGurie, Poole, or Garfield?
WesleyGibson - 1/13/2013, 11:13 AM
Tobey indefinitely. To hell with Garfield's douche Parker.
Jollem - 1/13/2013, 1:58 PM
andy g. is my parker/spidey of choice. i like the raimi films, btw
Parker2017 - 1/13/2013, 4:40 PM
I Won;t say who it hink yet, but you gotta give Daniel Poole some prop's for trying and those practicle web swinging effects look pretty good, dangerous, but worth it. The stunts where ncie and while the fighting coregaphraphy was also pretty good, I Don't know. I felt it was a one pitch Parker form him,he didn;t feel or look like peter parker, even fi you don;t like Toby or Andy they both at least to me felt more like Peter but that 90's cheesy goodness and what he did with the characters was pretty faithful and fun.

respect for actully doing gwen's charater right, it's not the ebst, but it is liek her comic book counterpart.
VIRILEMAN - 1/14/2013, 8:17 AM
Anyone who has actually read the comics would say Garfield. He looks just like Eric Larson's Peter Parker, not to mention he is the better actor. Oh, and Garfield can actually throw out a quip. Maguire couldn't quip to save his life.

I have a weird perspective of the Spiderman films. I think that TASM had the best interpretation of the characters, but it lacked the heart and re-watchability of the first two with Tobey. I cared more about what was happening with those characters, even if I didn't like all off the performances. I think that a new director could take the current continuity and make it better. I'll still go and see it either way.

It's kind of the way I feel about the Star Wars prequels: they had better action sequences/visuals and were on a bigger scale, but they I didn't really care about the journey of the characters. Even knowing the end-game of those movies I think we could have been moved more with Anakin's fall. I think of American Beauty, where we knew that Kevin Spacey's character was going to die at the beginning of the film. We were still moved when he died, and didn't want it to happen.

I think that the people that call Andrew's Spider-Man a d-bag really are just trying to find reasons to dislike him because their eyes are still covered by the nostalgia mask. They say he was a jerk for yelling at his aunt, which he didn't. He yelled at Uncle Ben, which is a hyperbole. He bullied Flash Thompson, by dunking on him? He bullied, a car thief, who at the time we and Spidey thought was a murderer, really? Oh and he talked down to a cop that shot at him. All Peter did there was say a few quips and disarm him. How do these people claim to be Spidey fans when they clearly know nothing about his personality, or the way it was approached in the TASM film.
SpideyMan123 - 1/14/2013, 12:47 PM
@Venom2000000 They're just making up stuff to force themselves to hate the movie
TheFirstAvenger97 - 1/14/2013, 2:07 PM
@SpideyMan123 Lol! ;-)
WesleyGibson - 1/14/2013, 2:36 PM
SpideyMan123

Um...no dumbass. People actually have opinions that differ from yours. Same goes to you Venom2000000.
Jollem - 1/14/2013, 11:43 PM
^and you say you DON'T like douche? :)
Jollem - 1/15/2013, 4:02 AM
wasn't calling you a douche at all, Mr. Gibson, i just meant that there is definite truth to what SpideyMan and Venom said
WesleyGibson - 1/15/2013, 7:08 AM
^^^There is also a definite truth to what I said, to which many people have major problems accepting.
Parker2017 - 1/15/2013, 10:44 AM
Seeing this little spat at witch film is better or worst, well wait till we get to May and the rest of the year to know about SONY's full involvement, and i think you'll understand Rami,Webb, Camron, McGuire and Garfield's importance to Spidey's future in film.
Parker2017 - 1/15/2013, 10:47 AM
also no one here as anything to say on the fan film? i'm impressed with this little concept piece.
Parker2017 - 1/15/2013, 11:04 AM
we can also be thankful for that no has ever made a movie based on One More Day. Which in honest hindsight i wouldn;t be surprise if Sony actually did that.
Jollem - 1/15/2013, 11:44 AM
@WesleyGibson - yeah, this acceptance of differing opinions thing is a never-ending battle from what i gather :)
WesleyGibson - 1/15/2013, 2:31 PM
^^^Man you have no idea. :)
Parker2017 - 1/15/2013, 4:24 PM

KaineParker

Coming from an apparent 'kid' that can't respect someone else's view of things.
CoulsonLives - 1/18/2013, 5:31 AM
Yet Wesley has a profile picture of the worst actor for Anakin Ever? And you are acting like a douche now? Oh the Irony...
WesleyGibson - 1/18/2013, 8:25 AM
CoulsonLives

I wasn't hired to play Peter Parker. Also, I was asked which I prefer. As for Anakin, that's your opinion. I never thought he was that bad.

God I can't say anything on this site without some moron getting offended because I didn't like his little movie.

[frick]ing live with it.
Parker2017 - 1/29/2013, 9:31 PM
