More From Marc Webb On Their "Step Forward" With THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb once again talks about how they will be upping their game to make the Spidey sequel great, which releases this May. Hit the jump.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be out in May, and the director Marc Webb just can't stop teasing. He's continuously teasing how the movie is more "huge" compared to the last movie. He told TotalFilm that they will be "pushing the levels of effects, the level of action and the emotional capacity of this kid. It's an aggressive step forward." The director adds, "We throw around the term 'operatic' because of the spectacle and the theater involved, which is pretty epic." He also teases once again the big sets and the relationship between Peter and Gwen. "There are enormous sets and great set-pieces. But really it's a very intimate song – this relationship between Peter and Gwen is very delicate and beautiful." Are you excited for The Amazing Spider-Man 2? Sound off below, and remember to tune into the Superbowl to catch a short TV Spot for the upcoming sequel.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Sally Fields as Aunt May
Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn
Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich/The Rhino

Well think they can only go up from TASM, it wasn't "bad" for me, but could have been much better...

MercwithMouth - 1/26/2014, 7:26 AM
This movie has had the best marketing strategy since Avengers. It's gonna be badass, and should be the first Spidey movie to break the billion dollar barrier. Can't wait.
MrCBM56 - 1/26/2014, 7:29 AM

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is going to OWN 2014. We are about to see one of the most epic superheroes films ever, ladies and gentlemen, I can feel it. Can't wait for the Super Bowl teaser for this and Captain America: The Winter Soldier!!
LokiOfAsgard - 1/26/2014, 8:02 AM
I wish that instead of the Sinister Six, there was an angle that lead into Maximum Carnage. I feel like that would give the movie a chance to be pretty dark without having 6 villains.
UltimateHunt - 1/26/2014, 8:02 AM
I feel tasm 1 was the movie of the origin. And this sequel I feel its the real Webb and his story let see what he has
Steelers4190 - 1/26/2014, 8:06 AM
Please be awesome..........Didn't really care for the first one. Not saying it was horrible but I just didn't get sucked into it like I wish I would have. That said I have faith in this film. Don't disappoint me!
MediaMan - 1/26/2014, 8:07 AM
I've said before... I think this is going to be the highest-grossing CBM of 2014. Reallllly looking forward to it... of course, I can't wait to see Winter Soldier either. Who knows, Guardians may be the best of them all... I'm not as jazzed for DoFP, but it's definitely behind the other three for me.

MightyZeus - 1/26/2014, 8:09 AM
Sounds good. Looking forward to TASM 2.
rmf1979 - 1/26/2014, 8:15 AM

JoJo1982 - 1/26/2014, 8:29 AM

If u didn't care, then why click int this article I read this news??
JoJo1982 - 1/26/2014, 8:31 AM
Yes this Movie will a billion dollars or come close to it
JJJameson - 1/26/2014, 8:32 AM
I think it has the potential and the best release date to hit one billion. No Spider-Man film ever hit $1B, but no Batman film ever did before TDK was released as well.
Kevwebsz - 1/26/2014, 8:34 AM
I really hope they're still working on those effects.
dethpillow - 1/26/2014, 8:34 AM
oh Hell Yeah!@!! he said operatic!!

that's exactly what that weird first poster was...

total opera, Ancient Greek, outdoor, 70's Clash of the Titans,
Black Lodge, King Arthur type hyper-opera.

Harry Goblin, Spidey and Electro are like Greek Gods in that poster,

looking down in desperate detachment at the suffering that plays out beneath them.

to each, their portion....
this is their garmonbozia.
wow bob wow

marvel72 - 1/26/2014, 8:39 AM

thewolfx - 1/26/2014, 8:39 AM

dethpillow - 1/26/2014, 8:44 AM
512 bit Hong Kong Goddam HyperOpera Shit.

that what this is gonna be like...

if Webb delivers!
gonna be some serious Wong Kar Wai stuff happening.
he has promised too much, it seems like, ... will he fold under the pressure?!?
like a sticky willow twig at the bottom of a pit?

or will he emerge hungry and triumphant,
the master of reality, made flesh, like a 16 tier birthday cake of champagne?

Kill em Webb, you're our only hope!
NoPhucksGiven - 1/26/2014, 8:49 AM
Meh. I'll humor this.
WeddingTux - 1/26/2014, 8:50 AM

I like The Improvements of This film Except for Hans Zimmer Composing The Score James Horner is way better
LoudLon - 1/26/2014, 9:00 AM
I seriously find it difficult to get excited for another Spider-Man movie. I WANT to, but I'm not feelin' it. :/
StarkAnthony - 1/26/2014, 9:04 AM
Just watched TASM again last night, and it was on the lower end of ok. There was so much that could have been done better. Pretty much all of it. It's never a good thing for a reboot when while you're watching it you keep thinking about the originals. I felt Raimi captured the tone of the world of Spider-Man much better than Webb. Still looking forward to this one, hopefully it will be the improvement it looks like. I'm very cautiously optimistic.
mctrinket - 1/26/2014, 9:13 AM

Dunejedi - 1/26/2014, 9:17 AM
There's a sucker born every minute.
rabid - 1/26/2014, 9:18 AM
So stoked for this film. I have a sneaking suspicion that Webb is going to drop some Cletus Kassidy on us after the credits.
