Initially, the full runtime of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was believed to be 142 minutes long, which translates to 2 hours and 22 minutes. That includes credits which would have left Spidey with about 2 hours and 12 minutes of actual screen time. Well, recently Rotten Tomatoes has posted the official runtime along with a growing score of 83% in counting! The official runtime of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is more than the longest Spider-Man film; it's the longest Marvel film of all time! Spidey will be gleaming in his greatest battle in a full 2 hours and 32 minutes! Over 2 hours and a half long! Without credits, that would leave the actual footage with 2 hours and 22 minutes of play, about 10 minutes longer than the rumored runtime as well as 2012's Marvel's The Avengers.

So far, the film has receivied positive reviews full of much honesty. Critcs and audiences alike have admitted to slight plot and tone problems but agree that it is an overall fun, emotional, action-packed, and well paced film!
If you haven't read CBM user McNyagano's review yet, go read it now! He gives it an amazing five stars, pun intended!

Sound off in the comments! By the way, this is my first article on actual movie news, so I apologize if there are any mistakes. Also, lets keep the comments neat. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but to go as far as bashing the film just because you have a pre-judgemental attitude toward it is just rdiculous and uncalled for. I'm going to simply say this, if you don't have anything logical or reasonable to say about this news, or in other words are just going to troll and express unnecessary hate, then just carry on with your life, please.

Thanks for the read!

the amazing spider-man 2 is at 83% on rotten tomatoes.
JoJo1982 - 4/9/2014, 3:53 PM

I'm in
AlexanderLykins - 4/9/2014, 3:55 PM
Still has time to drop too!
Starfox - 4/9/2014, 3:55 PM
Massive spoiler revealed earlier on this site (that I will not repeat) shows that Green Goblin is going to be a Badass in this.

So I'm in as well.
MarvelsDarkKnight - 4/9/2014, 3:56 PM
@marvel72 but the average rating is 6.1 that is bad
MegaPrime1107 - 4/9/2014, 3:59 PM
You guys just chill. The film isn't going to be bad. Let's just wait until we see it for ourselves.
Starfox - 4/9/2014, 3:59 PM
Well Considering that the first film only achieved a 73% and it will be hard to compete with the Sam Raimi's Spider-Man sequel (Spider-Man 2) I think anywhere near 70-85% is doing good. :)
MegaPrime1107 - 4/9/2014, 4:02 PM
The real reviews haven't come in yet. And the ratio is 10:2. 10 fresh that is. Only 2 rotten. And those 2 both seem like haters. Even the good reviews explain slight problems, but the bad reviews just say "it's bad" pretty much. That shows nothing useful or "proper review type" if you now what I mean.
MegaPrime1107 - 4/9/2014, 4:03 PM
@TankD Or he should just go back to doing romantic movies like 500 days of summer...if TASM2 fails that is.
MegaPrime1107 - 4/9/2014, 4:04 PM
Lol IGN! Ign needs to get the freak out! That's not even a reliable site for movie reviews.
Starfox - 4/9/2014, 4:08 PM
"IGN also gave Iron Man 3 a 9/10"

This looks much more exciting than that. Not saying they aren't a credible source, but I think they're baised when it comes to Studios & Franchises/Track Records.
Mike89 - 4/9/2014, 4:09 PM
The movie includes....

Electro + his origin
Green Goblin + his origin
A continuation of the so called "untold story" revolving peters parents.
Gwen and peters relationship
The possibilyty of gwens death judging by the trailers.
Tons of action.

yeap this movies needs to be 2 and 1/2 hours long.
localsonlymills - 4/9/2014, 4:14 PM
I think I might be one of a small group who enjoyed the first film, increasing with repeated viewings. I also love longer films so I'm pumped for this news!

I was sitting in TWS hoping that it wouldn't end!
Bekss - 4/9/2014, 4:19 PM
The reviews so far are mediocre not positive. A lot of people is saying the movie is a mess but the Peter/Gwen relationship saves it.
I don't like the first movie so I don't think I'll enjoy this one.
McNyagano - 4/9/2014, 4:27 PM
Great movie:D
Bobevanz - 4/9/2014, 4:30 PM
I wanna see it, no one can convince me other wise, if its bad... well that sucks. If its great, then yaaay! Why listen to other peoples opinion before seeing it yourself, 9/10 for IM3? Gimme a break. Clearly disney likes to butter up critics lol. Although cap 2 deserves its high ranking. God I hope this movie is good, either way it'll make a billion. Kids love spidey as much as we do
Bobevanz - 4/9/2014, 4:34 PM
If Mc says its good then it's good, I agree immensely with your cap 2 review, if this is as good in a sense of comparison to it then we're in for a wild ride! Also

@McNayagano how do you get to see all these movies so early? Im a pirate and I can't even get the availability you have lol
AmazingSpiderFan2 - 4/9/2014, 4:38 PM

IGN also gave Spiderman 3 an 8...So they're not the most consistent of reviewers
Bekss - 4/9/2014, 4:38 PM
The movie you like have good reviews: hear the critics.
The movie you don't like have good reviews: don't hear the critics.

Decide already people. Stop with the hypocricy.
marvel72 - 4/9/2014, 4:39 PM
rotten tomatoes fresh ratings

spider-man 89%
spider-man 2 94%
spider-man 3 63%

the amazing spider-man 73%
the amazing spider-man 2 83% (at the moment)
TayDee - 4/9/2014, 4:42 PM
This movie will be great. This is the spiderman film I've been waiting for.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 4/9/2014, 4:49 PM
I'm going to see this. The first was very good. The Advantage Marvel has is their movies are fresh in critics minds usually giving them more opportunity to get better ratings along with quality of film releasing first. Everyone else get compared then it becomes unfair, but still spidey will do good IMHO. Iron Man 3 was good as well minus twist. Now stop trying to deem that film as bad or average as many liked that film. Get over it. 2014 is here. ;)
ALmazing - 4/9/2014, 4:54 PM
You know, even the critics that are giving Spidey a fresh score are not even being very kind to it, this could be troublesome.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 4/9/2014, 4:55 PM
Also I'm sick and tired of people throwing away critics reviews. Some are fans just like us so accept it. I accept every critic review good or bad. Don't be hurt by it. If its garbage or average or good or excellent just accept the the mass outcome and weigh it with your review. *shrugs*
TheRealRemyLebeau - 4/9/2014, 4:59 PM
Why are folks being scary. Nothing could be as bad as raimis cheese ball factory trilogy. These are real spidey films we got. Regardless if spidey is a 70% or 80% film that's still quality. Bet the fans like this.
Ramiel - 4/9/2014, 5:03 PM
Yea, the reviews have been average at best so far. That's not cool. Heil Hydra!
SpiderFraud - 4/9/2014, 5:07 PM
I don't think any Spidey film will ever reach the godlike tone of the first two Raimi flicks. Main reason why I'm so excited for this movie is because it reminds me of the originals.
BatManHeisenberg - 4/9/2014, 5:37 PM
Starkasm - 4/9/2014, 5:49 PM
I posted this about 3 weeks ago.
Nilso - 4/9/2014, 6:07 PM
It's about about a hour to long and doesn't even compare to The Winter Soldier.
DCSaysHailHydra - 4/9/2014, 6:19 PM
"Critcs and audiences alike have admitted to slight plot and tone problems but agree that it is an overall fun, emotional, action-packed, and well paced film!",0,821114.story#axzz2yRS4JFYN

There have been critics saying otherwise that the film isn't very well paced and/or packs charm or emotion. When it comes to being fun and action-packed though, I think there won't be any disappointment on that front. Spider-Man 3 was bashed on by critics and audience both besides it being action-packed.
dethpillow - 4/9/2014, 6:28 PM
@GoldenOne - haha, they added 10 minutes. yikes. what do u think that means?

arf arf.

haha, i'm still in tho. we got a deal, and u are goin down, GoldenOne.
count me in.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 4/9/2014, 6:30 PM

That's not that good. Cap 2 stayed at 100% for almost a week.
DCSaysHailHydra - 4/9/2014, 6:45 PM
I believe TDK and Rises stayed at 100% for a tad while when it first appeared on Rotten Tomatoes too.
DCSaysHailHydra - 4/9/2014, 6:46 PM
And I THINK The Avengers.
MegaPrime1107 - 4/9/2014, 8:03 PM
It's like the Marvelites are here trying to start an argument. You're all trying hard to bash the film, which is exactly what I said not to do. You're purposely going on an article about TASM2 just to talk about the bad reviews. It's like you WANT the movie to fail, which is just pathetic. You can't judge the movie until you've seen it, and making decisions based off of its predecessor is just ridiculous. I don't understand the hate against this film. It's just out of place.
MegaPrime1107 - 4/9/2014, 8:04 PM
DCSaysHailHydra stop comparing the dag on movies. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hasn't even hit theaters yet.

Half of you are probably mad it's 2 hours and 30 minutes long.
MegaPrime1107 - 4/9/2014, 8:06 PM
Nilso, really? Are you serious? You're really ridiculous.
DCSaysHailHydra - 4/9/2014, 9:23 PM
TheRealRemyLebeau - "Why are folks being scary. Nothing could be as bad as raimis cheese ball factory trilogy. These are real spidey films we got. Regardless if spidey is a 70% or 80% film that's still quality. Bet the fans like this."

That "cheese ball factory" trilogy's first two films were in the higher 80s(89% for Spider-Man) and low 90s(94% for Spider-Man 2), so you would consider them quality films, but you're also calling them "cheese ball factory" Spidey films…can you elaborate on what you actually call quality then because mentioning percentages obviously doesn't relate to even your own viewing of what's a good film or not.
DCSaysHailHydra - 4/9/2014, 9:25 PM
MegaPrime1107 - It could've been misspelling on your end, but compare what to The Amazing Spider-Man 2? I am only bringing up how some films have actually started at 100% for its first few days, as we've seen other times including Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
