i really hate this old movies
woodsy100 - 3/30/2011, 6:26 AM
Hmm, very few scenes there from The Quest for Peace - I just can't understand why? On a more serious note, this might just tempt me to finally get a Blu-Ray player. Would have been good to get Supergirl thrown in there too though.
Mysterion - 3/30/2011, 6:31 AM
Yeah I agree @ woodsy100...throwing Supergirl into that mix wouldve been sweet. I remember that movie being total cheese...but hey it was the 80's, the cheese decade.
UGN - 3/30/2011, 6:32 AM
Superman 2 is one of my favorite movies of all time. I can't wait for these to come out on blu-ray. :)

actionjackson - 3/30/2011, 6:34 AM
Yes! Donner Cuts!! I'm so buying this, and I don't even have a blue-ray player yet...
CapFan79 - 3/30/2011, 6:34 AM
They've already released a set with all these. Other than the first one none are watchable repeatedly. Are they gonna keep putting them out like Star Wars? They'll re-release when Snyder's film is out too.
actionjackson - 3/30/2011, 6:36 AM
@CapFan, I doubt it because they are trying to separate the Synder film from the past movies. Combining them into a single box set would defeat that purpose
Markus316 - 3/30/2011, 6:44 AM
What ever happened to the Director's cut that Bryan Singer promised us that included footage of Superman visiting his destroyed world, which clips were shown in the movie trailers at one time on TV. They should have included that in this Box set.
woodsy100 - 3/30/2011, 6:52 AM
@Markus316, I seem to remember Singer saying that the theatrical version was the director's cut. Hopefully those deleted scenes should show up amongst the 20 hours of extras.
aaronite1999 - 3/30/2011, 6:55 AM
With the Superman I and Superman Returns blurays already in my collection, this really needs to be in a bargain bin for me to buy it.

Superman II theatrical is the only other feature that I want on bluray (along with a Director's Cut of SR).

*Superman IV in high def???* It already looks horrific enough in standard def LOL (??!!)
JaySchluffy - 3/30/2011, 6:56 AM
8 Discs? That sounds much better than the originally listed 5 discs. I may pre-order this now.
capreborn - 3/30/2011, 6:59 AM
BaneKill77 @ I can't state my opinion ?
capreborn - 3/30/2011, 7:03 AM
All this Superman movies are out dated even Superman Returns. Bring on the reboot
spiderneil - 3/30/2011, 7:11 AM
I only want superman 2 (as I have superman 1 on blu already). couldn't care less about SM3/SM4/SR
Caedus137 - 3/30/2011, 7:26 AM
People cling onto the original films with a passion and nostalgia, but if we're all honest with ourselves here, many of us would conclude that they aren't actually very good... I for one just can't watch them anymore, with the visible strings and card-board sets, the buffoons trailing after a camp and non-threatening Lex Luthor... Having said all that, I'm guessing the bonus features will be the same ones that are already on 1-4 and Returns, and if so they are actually well worth a watch. Really interesting stuff.
Supersonicboobs - 3/30/2011, 7:32 AM
I loved the superman 1 and 2. Returns did work for all the wrong reasons...

I'm really glad that Nolan, Goyer and Synder have decided to make a fresh Take on the Character!

we need a New superman movie for the ages!
GodzillaKart - 3/30/2011, 7:35 AM
@Caedus137 could not be more wrong. Of course they are dated, as is every film from the time. The special effects were ground breaking at the time. Do you remember what Luthor was like in the comics in the 70's? Hackman's character was actually an improvement.

Superman probably still has the best origin of any CBM. The beginning of Superman up until he saves Lois and the helicopter is absolutely 5 stars. The rest of show is just great instead of freakin' awesome.

On top of all that, Reeve was one of the best casted superheroes ever.
jaysin09 - 3/30/2011, 7:40 AM
Meh.....Probably not much in this set that isn't already out.
Off the subject though, does anyone know what theme music is playing towards the second half of the trailer? I'm a big fan of movie/trailer scores.
spideysweb - 3/30/2011, 8:13 AM
I'll get it!!!!
marvel72 - 3/30/2011, 8:20 AM
i've got superman the movie on blu-ray only need to get superman 2.

the other three movies would make nice beer mats.
JackBauer - 3/30/2011, 8:26 AM
Superman 1 & 2 kicks ass! 3 & 4 suck donkey balls. Returns wasn't as bad as 3 or 4, but could've been a lot better without the kid and if he wouldn't have "fought" the real estate mogul again.

TheGODDAMNEDDaddySmalls - 3/30/2011, 9:15 AM
ok speaking as someone who HATED Superman Returns with a passion, i agree. BUT..my question is to the dude who said Returns is outdated...how the hell is it outdated ? it was 5 years ago !!
Shaman - 3/30/2011, 9:31 AM
I'll wait a few years for the bargain bin too, if that. The only thing i liked about the old films was Reeve's performance in them(not Sup's character per say, but rather his intensity). Other than that, every other detail about them makes me cringe when i watch them in this day and age. SR was "OK" to me. A well filmed modern take of a bad and way outdated storyline. But at least, i can still watch it again today, contrary to the Reeve films. But that's just me. I think better acting could have made it a way different film (excluding Spacey). Better writing would have been a definite plus, too LOL.
xXkryptoniteXx - 3/30/2011, 9:35 AM
So were getting the Richard donner cut on superman 2? Awesome. And it really pains me why singer continued the story of donners version cause I really like the canon of chris revee, even if the last two he done are bad. Not saying superman returns was a bad movie but just really hate it's not chris revee as superman and he didn't even throw a punch while being attack from 3 thugs and lex WTF? They made superman like a pansy without his powers and that ain't him. Still superman returns was a well made movie but not the superman we needed for the new generation.
xXkryptoniteXx - 3/30/2011, 9:44 AM

It's to give respects to what started it and that it was a great comic book movie till Tim burtons batman movie came out. If you don't respect the past then the new generation won't give a crap about what came before them, and just to relate to them how huge it was like star wars back then was crazy like lord of the rings in 2001. I know some people don't care but for those who cares knows how to show respect will get respect back.
VictorHugo - 3/30/2011, 9:48 AM
These are not old movies, they are classic movies.

The maquettes and real sets register on the brain much better than bad CGI.
Rodimus9 - 3/30/2011, 9:56 AM
None of you f*ckers who are complaining should buy them then. Stop your god damn whining about how 3 & 4 sucked(not saying they didnt), or how you'll wait for the bargain bin.

If you don't likey, don't f*ckin buy them. I will, and f*cking enjoy them. God damn you people cry like babies.

This was all in my "opinion" by the way, so don't you dare give me a bad reply!! LOL!!

FYM!! ;-)
Rodimus9 - 3/30/2011, 10:03 AM
Wish they hadn't added returns though and kept that separate.
TheGODDAMNEDDaddySmalls - 3/30/2011, 10:10 AM
To me the old films ARE entertaining, I respect what Donner did back then AND Christopher Reeve's performance, to me He IS Superman. It will always survive the test of time in my opinion
LEEE777 - 3/30/2011, 11:06 AM
I've got all of em on DVD and RETURNS and Donner cut with SUPERMAN THE MOVIE on BR!

Not forking out for this for SUPES 3 & 4 lol! : P

Sweet stuff tho, but WB should have brought this out ages ago!
Rodimus9 - 3/30/2011, 12:13 PM
You are all blasphemous fools! I can't think of any comic based movies from the 70's and 80's and 90's(that's 30 years!!) that were any better. This anthology is part of cinema history, like the Godfather and your precious Star Wars! Which is crap by today's standards so they digitally remastered it and added "new" footage. Pile of sh*t Star Wars! Try watching it on VHS...looks just as shitty as Superman 1-4. How many people that comment here were actually Alive when the Superman movies came out? I was born the year before the first and saw 3 & 4 in the theatre and F'n loved them. I still to this day have an occasional Superman marathon. I will always love them even If the new one is "better".
SHHH - 3/30/2011, 12:44 PM
Old School Is Better..:)
drellik - 3/30/2011, 12:59 PM
You buncha younglings....didn't grow up with these movies....can't appreciate the awesomeness that came with Superman I & II. And yes, I still watch them whenever they're on TV.

@JackBauer....hysterical vid.
TheGODDAMNEDDaddySmalls - 3/30/2011, 1:24 PM
ACTUALLY I did grow up with these movies !!!
Kamdan - 3/30/2011, 2:19 PM
"What more can anyone ask?" ALL of the deleted scenes, for one.
mastarockafella - 3/30/2011, 3:26 PM
I'm a fan of superman and I will get those blue rays.
LP4 - 3/30/2011, 4:21 PM
I actually thought Superman 3 and 4 were waaaaay better than Superman Returns. AT LEAST Superman fought people in those films. And at least the stories weren't as contrived as Superman having a bastard child and ditching earth for 5 years. But in all those 3 films sucked hard. Superman 1 and II were good...for their time period.

I'll pass on this set. I'm just going to wait for the Snyder/Nolan film with 'SuperCavill' before I ever buy another Superman film ever again. That film will be the end-all to all Superman films.
dudemanjac - 3/30/2011, 7:03 PM
Superman was on the other day on AMC (because it unlike some of the other crap they show, truly is an American Classic). I didn't care that I'd be up till 3. I didn't care that my dad took me to see it before I could walk. I love that move, blue screen, wires and all.
mainstream05 - 3/30/2011, 7:09 PM
So getting this. I hope the theatrical cuts are included. I'm a completist, but I also prefer the theatrical of Superman II.
