That friskies ad before the interview is gonna haunt my dreams forever.
MightyZeus - 7/8/2013, 6:48 AM
Great interview Ed.

Henry Cavill was obviously the best choice for 'Superman'.
Shaggy - 7/8/2013, 6:49 AM
thank God they picked him over Joe-Schmoe Mangawhatwhat
GoldenMan - 7/8/2013, 6:51 AM
Henry Cavill was the best part of the whole film.
EdGross - 7/8/2013, 6:51 AM
Thanks, all. I'll have more interview excerpts coming from Snyder as well as Henry Cavill.

I'm one of the few people who liked Sucker Punch. I love Zack Snyder's work. But man, the dude must not be allowed to talk! He says "you know" and "like" throughout the interview. I get what he's saying, but his inability to articulate what he means damages his credibility as an expert film maker.
EdGross - 7/8/2013, 7:39 AM
Warner Brothers HAS to make a sequel; right now, it's all they've got in terms of DC. Besides, the movie is now about $150 million in profit, plus there's the $160 million they pulled in from promotional tie-ins and, then, there will be several hundred million more from Blu-ray/DVD, which should put things close to a billion dollars. Is it Iron Man 3 business? Not even close, but certainly profitable to the point of leaving no doubt there will be a follow-up.
Scooby - 7/8/2013, 7:40 AM
@TheManofTomorrow that's what some critics think - that Snyder is a boy going through puberty trapped in a man's body. Good thing movies are a combination of several things, most importantly the visuals, like you know what I'm saying?
TheDetectiveComicRises - 7/8/2013, 7:51 AM
Excellent casting & Superb film!
EdGross - 7/8/2013, 7:52 AM
I'm only guessing, but, like I said, if they ultimately make $500 million in profit from Man of Steel, that's a pretty good incentive to push forward. Again, they need to if they are seriously going to try and get a "movie universe" going.
Dmon - 7/8/2013, 8:01 AM
It made more then Thor, Captain America, X-Men First Class. And made more then Iron-Man 1 before adjustments, it still has a few more weeks in theaters so by the time it is done MOS will beat IM1 after the adjustments too.
Dmon - 7/8/2013, 8:02 AM
There will be a sequel.
fettastic - 7/8/2013, 8:21 AM
It's pushing $600M now. Does it have another $100M in it? I don't know, maybe.

But the real prize is that franchise money and cracking open Justice League as well.

Man of Steel 2 is gonna generate a mountain of cash.
Dmon - 7/8/2013, 8:27 AM
@DoubleD WB had to have known that MOS would not have done better then a 2nd and 3rd movie in a franchise or a Team movie that had 4-5 major characters from other films. Also MOS did better then the X-Men films from Fox. Fox has other films that they produce also but the are still making X-Men films.
Dmon - 7/8/2013, 8:29 AM
Of course I will admit though that Fox has to make X films or they will lose the rights.
xfactor - 7/8/2013, 8:54 AM
@ doubled, there has to be a sequel on the way, wb isn't stupid they made the money back already, so obviously they see the franchise potential. This movie is a hit, and its made more than both captain america and thor, both are with sequels coming up as well. You're right dc dont make the call it's wb, but when have you known the warners for turning down cash?
PapaEmeritus - 7/8/2013, 9:25 AM
Pay no attention to Doubledouche, he's just a minor marvelite troll. Stop feeding him!

Bodwulf - 7/8/2013, 10:44 AM
Love how you can post a story about casting . Then the comments section turns into a nostalgic look back at Prince! Thanks to all those who posted pics!
EdGross - 7/8/2013, 11:20 AM
Bodwulf, I'm just surprised it took as long as it did.
xfactor - 7/8/2013, 12:09 PM
damn right @ineedrevelation, sheeiit iron man (2008) made 586 mil and look how that turned out ;)
Nubase - 7/8/2013, 12:35 PM

We all get it, you do not want MOS to make any more money

its really getting boring now

l've seen the movie 3 times already and it gets better and better.
Dmon - 7/8/2013, 2:52 PM
@Ineedrevelation Transformers has never gotten a Fresh Score and they are making the fourth one right now. RT score means nothing.
Dmon - 7/8/2013, 3:00 PM
@Ineedrevelation Also like I said earlier MOS made more money then Thor(16 wkends) and Captain America (16 wkends) and has only been out for 4 weekends. It has already beat Iron-Man 1 (22 wkends) before adjustments also. When it is done MOS will have beaten Iron-Man 1 after adjustments as well.
Folchibas - 7/8/2013, 3:05 PM
@Ineedrevelation - difference is though? what does that even mean??
Dmon - 7/8/2013, 3:44 PM
@Areopagus Agreed

savageguitarist - 7/9/2013, 12:57 AM
lol@ the logic of some of you people. comparing man of steel total money compared to iron man 3 which is the 3rd freaking installment in a franchize backed up by avengers group movie. man of steel should be compared to batman begins or TASM
lucio7lopez - 7/9/2013, 5:55 AM
You're Dam right!

For other side @Ineedhelp have a serious "penis envy" for Man of Steel.

KNIGHT3000 - 7/9/2013, 7:38 AM
You guys like Prince? No wonder so many of you come off as gays.... You know he didn't get those clothes from the men's department...
JorL5150 - 7/9/2013, 11:03 AM
A superb adventure/sci fi movie.

On one hand you have a perfect alognment of haters-
Superman haters
Nolan haters
Sbyder haters
Dc hating marvel troll sore winner whiners

On the other you have-
Perfect casting
Epic scale production that makes avengers look like a little indie flick
Excellent score
Bof office smash in spite of more competition than IM3lethalwaponlite had the balls to go against

So yeah- success. The people voted w/their wallets. MOS didn't have 5 prequels like avengers did. MOS did not have the momentum that IM3 inhereted. MOS didn't kiss anyones ass.

Still a big hit. I used to get annoyed with the haters- but now they amuse me with their pathetic antics. Like a one-armed retard trying to juggle chainsaws.

I don't know how DoubleD is a troll for pointing out Warner Brothers is incompetent. That's not dissing DC Comics, that's calling f_cking Warner Brothers incompetent! They are. They "HAVE" all their eggs in one basket, and can't make a proper movie out of Green Lantern, or Wonder Woman, or Flash, or Batman, shit, but Marvel can flirt, no, WILL make, a movie out of a tree and a racoon that talks. Marvel makes characters out of C and B level stars, with people who had jail records or were on screen prior as other superheroes, but WB, Warner Brothers, can't get their shit together when they HAVE their shit "together" and make a decent superhero film. I mean who decides to not have Batman, not interact with the DC Universe, but have Batman NOT interact with his OWN universe? I mean how the f_ck do you do that? How can Batman talk to martian Manhunter when/if he can't even have a Dick Grayson Robin ro Nightwing to talk to? He doesn't even have Robin?!?!?!?! But we're supposed to expect this company who allowed that to just create a Justice League movie. man of Steel "DID" make more than all those other movies, and yet those other movies STILL led up to a team-up movie. How is WB, with the far more famous superheroes, incapable of this? The cartoons all but make it easy for them for younger "AND" older generations to learn about the lesser and greater known characters, and WB "STILL" doesn't capitolize off of that some-what free publicity for their property. F_ck both companies, but how can you f_ck up with the world's most popular heroes?
