I think Martin from Double Toasted said it best...

"I love Superman... I don't give two s**ts about his grandpa"

Superman's Grandfather. Literally a character so irrelevant that they never gave him a name in 80 years of comic books.

...I misused "literally" for the sake of comedic hyperbole. I have brought shame on my people.

@Spock0Clock - What are you talking about? They spelled it differently but it's Supes Grandad. Wasn't he in a spinoff from John Byrnes Man of Steel?

@nikgrid - Comicvine has him appearing in 8 issues, and apparently a Pre-Crisis version appeared in a few issues as "Jor-El the First" or something.

But again.... comedic hyperbole. Seyg-El had about as many appearances as Lenora Lemaris (the little sister of Superman's mermaid girlfriend), and was ultimately less important in any real way. (Keeping in mind that nothing Seyg-El actually did mattered because it's all retroactive continuity anyway, created to backfill the story of the entire comic's premise.)
