The much anticipated Man of Steel sequel, said to be titled Superman VS. Batman or Batman VS. Superman is set to begin filming early next year. Unlike Man of Steel, the 2015 "explosive" follow-up will not be filming in Vancouver, Canada, but in Toronto, supposedly for "better tax credits." Vanity Buzz has stated that this news comes from a very reliable source "who works deep within the North American film industry."
During the filming of Man of Steel in Vancouver, fans were able to get great first looks and sneak peeks of Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El and Michael Shannon as Zod. Also, in this location, great scenes such as the oil rig rescue and the outside shots of Clark in the Alaskan town were shot.
With a budget of $225-Million, Man of Steel brought in an estimated $100-Million in local economic spinoffs to the province of Vancouver with a sequel likely to bring in the same amount - if not more.
Of course, there will be many other locations for the sequel to be filmed. Will they return to Plano, Illinois, or will they find a new town to call Smallville? Official news on the production of this film remain to be seen.
Man of Steel passed the half-billion dollar mark worldwide on Saturday, June 29. The film has a domestic total of $286,058,272 and an international total of $350,100,000 making the total gross at $636,158,272. With its release date set in August for Japan, the film will easily reach its $700-Million goal set by the studio.
