Potential MAN OF STEEL Spoilers In "Superman Saves Smallville" Junior Novel

As we saw with The Dark Knight Rises, these illustrated storybooks aren't always a perfect match with the film that they are based on, but sometimes they do reveal a spoiler or two. Thus, be careful. Hit the jump to see a few pages.

In a distant galaxy, on the planet Krypton, the leading scientist named Jor-El discovered that the planet's core was about to collapse. With time running out, Jor-El decided to send his only son, the newborn Kal-El to Earth.

Together with his wife, Lara, Jor-El placed the baby into a special spacecraft. "These Earthlings are a primitive people," Lara said. "But they look like us."

"His cells will soak up rays from the Earth's yellow sun. He will be very powerful," Jor-El explained. "Kal-El will bring them hope." The loving parents launched the little shuttle into outer space.

Kal-El's spacecraft zoomed through Earth's atmosphere, crash-landing on a cornfield in Smallville, Kansas.

Young farmers Jonathan and Martha Kent discovered the shuttle. They adopted the baby and raised him as their own, naming him Clark.

Clark's alien cells adapted to his new environment as he grew older. The process was slow and painful, but he developed a number of special abilities.

Aside from his incredible strength and speed, Clark had amazing senses, such as X-ray vision, super-hearing, and heat vision. He could fly, too!

Zod ripped through the car as if it were a tin can. He threw the pieces at a crowd of frightened bystanders.

Like a speeding bullet, Superman zoomed to catch the debris. Then he turned to Zod. "It ends now," he shouted. The Man of Steel unleashed a blast of heat vision straight at Zod. ZAP!

The general collapse in a crumpled smoking heap. Faora and Nam-Ek had recovered. They ran to his side picked him up and carried him back to their spaceship.

"This isn't the last of us!" they cried.

"How dare you?" Zod roared. "Get him!".

Faora and Nam-Ek attacked Superman. With their combined strength, they brought the Man of Steel to his knees.

"We are warriors and have never lost a battle," Faora cried. With lightning speed, the hero broke free. He lifted Faora and Nam-Ek up and slammed their heads together, instantly knocking them unconscious.

"The secret to winning," Superman said, "is using your head."

I love the way this film pays Homage to Donner's Superman and some elements from early seasons of Smallville which were 2 important pieces in the exploration and expansion of the mythos.
Smallville Haters be damned!

iPaul, perhaps he is trying to flash us his wang, but he is shy and keep hidibg it behind random comic strips?
RichardHedski - 4/27/2013, 4:28 PM
SPOILER! Zod is actually Superman's brother and Cavill's Superman isn't really Kal-El. He was kidnapped by Jor-El after Kal-El 1 went missing. As it turns, the REAL Kal-El was in another dimension before Krypton blew up and that version will be played by Brandon Routh. So after all, Superman Returns and Man of Steel will be connected. That will be epic!!!!
VIRILEMAN - 4/27/2013, 4:30 PM
So it sounds like Krypton does get destroyed! YES!
GuardianAngel - 4/27/2013, 4:33 PM

Found at Box Office Mojo:

1. Iron Man 3 (May 3): When the second entry in a franchise is poorly received—as was the case with Iron Man 2—that typically indicates that the third movie will see a decline in domestic box office. Iron Man 3 should be able to buck this trend, though, since it's technically a follow-up to last May's universally loved (and incredibly successful) superhero team-up The Avengers. While Iron Man 3 won't match The Avengers's $623.4 million, it should be the highest-grossing entry in the Iron Man franchise thanks to its great release date, strong early word-of-mouth, and goodwill from The Avengers. (Domestic: $400 million, Foreign: $600 million)

3. Man of Steel (June 14): With his superhuman strength and somewhat bland personality, it's been tough to get Superman to stand out against Batman, Spider-Man and the like in the past few decades: 2006's Superman Returns did decent business ($200 million domestic) but was widely considered a creative disappointment. With Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan providing guidance to director Zack Snyder, though, it appears Man of Steel has found a way to make the invincible superhero seem accessible to general audiences. The movie's previews have received tons of praise so far, and if it's as good as rumors suggest, then Warner Bros. should have a pretty big hit on their hands. (Domestic: $290 million, Foreign: $360 million)

Superman 2 all over again
lucio7lopez - 4/27/2013, 8:03 PM
@DoubleD I think Man of Steel could be a very good recaudation, far so better than $400
Facade - 4/27/2013, 8:05 PM
"He lifted Faora and Nam-Ek up and slammed their heads together, instantly knocking them unconscious."

Insert Three Stooges bonk sound effect.

JULEZ13 - 4/27/2013, 8:36 PM
Nam-Ek!?!? Where's Piccolo?!? ;D

All joking aside, so we know the other Kryptonian's name is Nam-Ek. Superman smashes his head together with Faora's? lol

I know too much about this movie. I need to avoid spoilers.

That drawing of Jor-El looks cool as hell! I wish he looked more like that in the movie!
616 - 4/27/2013, 8:40 PM
