A new full-length trailer for Jon Schnepp's documentary on Tim Burton's now infamous attempt to bring the Man of Steel to the screen (with Nicholas Cage in the title role) has been released. See some new interview snippets, BTS footage and concept art after the jump.

By all accounts Schnepp has almost completed production on the documentary, and is close to getting together the final funds needed to complete it. There's no doubt that this would make for an interesting watch -- even if the very least it did was serve as a cautionary tale. But you never know what else fans could come away from this doc with, as there's no doubting the passion that those involved with the doomed Superman Lives displayed. Will you be checking this out? ALmazing - 8/19/2014, 11:34 AM
$85,000? Donations?

Piece of advice, skip the spinning rims.
Gusto - 8/19/2014, 11:35 AM
This actually looks pretty interesting.
Ror, when does it come out???
VISIONaryNPa - 8/19/2014, 11:37 AM
[frick] this guy, he already made all his Kickstarter money and then some and now he's asking for 85Gs? GTFO.
VISIONaryNPa - 8/19/2014, 11:38 AM
"$115,110 pledged of $98,000 goal "
ScottMontgomery - 8/19/2014, 11:38 AM
Dev7 - 8/19/2014, 11:39 AM
You gotta donate to see this documentary completed. So guys bust out your wallets!
VISIONaryNPa - 8/19/2014, 11:43 AM
@Dev7 no you don't... no, you really don't need to donate to see the film once it's released. There are things called TORRENT sites that will house this film. ;)
MrBlackJack - 8/19/2014, 11:44 AM
God, I can't wait for this!
Dev7 - 8/19/2014, 11:47 AM
@npamusic, yea I know but its really a terrible thing to torrent a non studio film considering this guy is doing this on his own free time and it being done through donations.
RorMachine - 8/19/2014, 11:52 AM
Not sure when it'll be out..or even if it will, but there's all the info at that link if you want to fund it:)
WeddingTux - 8/19/2014, 12:15 PM
John Schnepp is a pretty cool guy, eh asked me to donate but I said

WruceBayne - 8/19/2014, 12:39 PM
Did they film any part of this movie?
Dingbat - 8/19/2014, 12:42 PM
Here's the story before Tim Burton came aboard the project

JorL5150 - 8/19/2014, 12:42 PM
i want to see it.

(its what she said, when i showed it)
Highflyer - 8/19/2014, 12:48 PM
I don't think cool concept art automatically means they were going to make a cool movie. It will always remain a 'what if.'
DrunkenNukem - 8/19/2014, 12:59 PM
damn this looks so interesting....

can't wait to see it
FordEl - 8/19/2014, 1:10 PM
I'm very interested in this
TheDonOfGotham - 8/19/2014, 1:26 PM
DC/WB should turn this into a animated film (the actual movie not the documentary). At least that way people get to see it and not just reminiscing about what it could have been.
ILuvComicFlix - 8/19/2014, 1:27 PM
Da f*ck?
Maculis - 8/19/2014, 1:29 PM
Forget what the box office numbers say, (and I have no idea what they are) but no comic book movie has been as big as batman. That was more than a movie, it was a movement. Kevin Smith is not lying. you couldn't go anywhere without seeing the batman insignia. And I'm not just talking about kids, I'm talking grown ass adults. Hair cuts, clothing lines (not specific articles of clothing, but entire clothing lines) jewelry, everything. That was definitely a crazy summer. you really had to have been around then to fully grasp it.
McGee - 8/19/2014, 1:41 PM
This better be in theaters!

I'm sorry...Theatres...for our British friends.
DrewDeLand - 8/19/2014, 1:45 PM
Definitely gonna check this documentary out
Niklander - 8/19/2014, 2:39 PM
I gotta say after reading Smith's script it was a badass script aside the Jon Peters bullshit like the ridiculous enormous metallic spider Brainiac's sidekick gay C-3P0 aside from that shit it was a BADASS script
captquirk - 8/19/2014, 2:39 PM
Fark this crap... If I was to donate any money, it would be to see the movie itself, not the eulogy of it! It couldn't be any worse than Singer's "vision".
Darlene1974 - 8/19/2014, 3:26 PM
I would've loved to see this version happen! Weird but interesting at the same time... too bad it didn't make it...
SirDuckAlot - 8/19/2014, 5:48 PM
Schnepp is a idiot but a very likeable idiot.
NeoBaggins - 8/19/2014, 6:31 PM
Where is Peter Griffin?

Orehrepus - 8/19/2014, 7:26 PM
Nicolas Cage: Actor/Legend.

I mean, I love Nic Cage, don't get me wrong.
But legend in what?

Christopher Reeve
Ayrton Senna
John Lennon

They're not legends either, but I wouldn't question it if you put "legend" along with those names. But Nic Cage?
GenerationX - 8/19/2014, 11:28 PM
This may come off as crazy but I'd actually kinda like to see this movie...and the documentary
Earthbound - 8/20/2014, 12:11 AM

Ghost Rider of course. :D

Orehrepus - 8/20/2014, 3:56 AM
LOL! Sure...
Orehrepus - 8/20/2014, 4:07 AM

It's not. I'd like to see it, too.
I was a bit shaken when it was first announced/rumored, but I trusted Tim Burton. As I trusted him when people were going crazy over his choice of Keaton as Batman. He didn't let me down then.

People would think it might not be the best Superman rendition and Tim Burton might not be the best choice for a director, seeing his "dark fantasy" vision on his movies, but let's look back at some of Zack Snyder's movies for a while now...

- Watchmen
- 300
- Suckerpunch

I'd say these two are more or less alike. And although MOS got mixed reaction from fans, still it got smashing box office to deemed it a successful film. So, yeah, I'd like to see Tim Burton's take on Superman. Too bad it didn't happen.
newmutantsRETURNS - 8/20/2014, 7:20 AM
Nic Cage as hair receding Supes?

BANEofExistence - 8/20/2014, 8:52 AM
Ill tell you what happened, this movie was shit! Brainiac looks cool, Superman played by Nic Cage? SHIT! He doesn't look like Superman at all, Doomsday looks horrible, this film looked like a shit show mess! Henry Cavill IS Superman and Snyders Superman is the best to date (Modern times) Heres hoping the sequel fully develops Superman withing the time since Man of Steel making him the hero he truly is (Since in Man of Steel he was literally Superman for like 2 days)
actionmoviefanatix - 8/20/2014, 10:49 AM
They've already raised $69,000. This thing is going to happen. I'm really interested in it... just not enough to pay them to produce it. It would be really, really interesting to hear their side of the story even though it was likely to be a complete train wreck regardless.
loki668 - 8/21/2014, 12:18 AM
"Stick to what you know, Burton"

Would that be the taste of Johnny Depp's balls?
