FAN MADE: Poster For MAN OF STEEL Featuring Henry Cavill & Christopher Reeve

This interesting poster for Zack Snyder's Superman reboot takes a different approach than the usual fan-made fare, using the concept of the one-sheet for George Clooney's political drama The Ides Of March - only instead of Gosling/Clooney, we have Cavill/Reeve..

FilmsFan - 9/2/2012, 4:25 AM
Yes!

Cavill will be Great!

As was Reeves & Routh!
I loved them Both!

& will LOOOOVE HENRY as well!
He's so huge & ripped in suit! He's really really big!!

I hope the romoured scene in which: "SUPERMAN & ZOD are fighting in Metropolis & are Lazering eachother, while Building & structures around them is Melting & then SUPERMAN holds ONE broken BUILDING in his Hand & hits ZOD with it" .... happens!

I know it can be beyond Epic! & Snyder has the ability to do it really well!
& With 3-4 times MORE budget from 300 & Watchmen; I hope & know that Special Effects are going to be incredible!

RorMachine - 9/2/2012, 5:14 AM
Really? I think this is very well done. Ah well, different strokes I guess.
RorMachine - 9/2/2012, 5:15 AM
Here's the Ides Of March poster..

badrat - 9/2/2012, 5:21 AM
@ teabag-- that video is funny as hell.
marvel72 - 9/2/2012, 5:25 AM
its alright,it could be worse it could feature tom welling.
billytwohats - 9/2/2012, 5:25 AM
Never understood why people can't let the Christopher Reeve movies go. Every actor playing Superman gets compared to Christopher Reeve. I wish to Chr*st they would let it f*cking go.
teabag - 9/2/2012, 5:28 AM
badrat@ :P

Marvel@ lmao :)
teabag - 9/2/2012, 5:33 AM
tbf ive never compared Tom Wellend to Reeve..i compare Wellend to a lump of wood :)
whoelsebutkevin - 9/2/2012, 5:36 AM
I LOVE the idea of this but it was poorly put together. Just not enough resources but its a Damn good idea.
DrRockso - 9/2/2012, 5:47 AM
Damn, Reeve had a big ol neck
DrRockso - 9/2/2012, 5:48 AM
Ok I just realized how inappropriate that was
ZombieOverEasy - 9/2/2012, 5:48 AM
I think it's in bad taste a little bit.
TheDetectiveComicRises - 9/2/2012, 5:50 AM
EPIC Combination!
ZombieOverEasy - 9/2/2012, 5:51 AM
Also...Cavill looks like a young William Fitchner (bank manager in Dark Knight) in that picture, lmao.
teabag - 9/2/2012, 5:54 AM

Uh, can't stand the sentimentality for Reeves- he was cheesy and flat as superman, but because he was a favorite of 12 year old boys now middle age, people look back on the superman films as if they were something more than films for 12 year old boys (like star wars).
iJackSparrow - 9/2/2012, 6:02 AM
I think it's kind of bad taste as well. Andrew Garfield said it best, Spider-Man is bigger than him or Tobey Maguire, just like Superman is bigger than Christopher Reeve and Henry Cavill. What Cavill needs to do is do the same that Christian Bale and Andrew Garfield did with Batman and Spider-Man and make the character his own, not to try to play Christopher Reeve playing Superman like Brandon Routh did, but actually become Superman.
RorMachine - 9/2/2012, 6:09 AM
How in any way shape or form is it in bad taste to pay tribute to an actor by calling him "the greatest Superman?"
iJackSparrow - 9/2/2012, 6:15 AM
In my opinion the problem is with the word "dethrone". There is no reason to say that, and it's not even because it's Reeve, I'd say the same thing if it was George Reeves as well. Andrew Garfield IS Spider-Man to me, I prefer Bale's take on Batman than Keaton, but that doesn't mean that these actors should be dethroning anyone. They were perfect for their times, except for those that truly failed, like Brandon Routh's Superman and George Clooney's Batman.
Jolt17 - 9/2/2012, 6:17 AM
That's awesome, I really like it. Perhaps, a less generic choice of font type, and...a higher resolution. (I think the latter somewhat degrades the poster as a whole.) But, overall, it's well executed, and a brilliant concept.
iJackSparrow - 9/2/2012, 6:21 AM
Paraphrasing The Ides of March caption would be way more classy and cooler IMHO, without trying so hard: "Is this our next Superman?"
RorMachine - 9/2/2012, 6:43 AM
So let me get this straight, using the word dethrone is in bad taste because..why? Is it disrespectful to Reeve? Cavill? Routh? Reeves? I'm confused here..is is or is it not pretty much a given among all fans that Christopher Reeve was our best big-screen Superman so far? If Cavill best shim, he "dethrones" him, yes? My God, so sensitive.
monstalova - 9/2/2012, 7:03 AM
I think its great but just think Christopher Reeve's head should a little bit bigger
JDUKE25 - 9/2/2012, 7:17 AM
Meh.. Don't like the concept. I don't really care for anything, dealing with the new movie, that has anything Reeve. Don't need that. Time to move on. Don't need anything tying the man of steel down.
Canon108 - 9/2/2012, 7:17 AM
I can't wait till Synder and Nolan completely distance themselves from the Donner/Singer films. I hate the fact they use Lex Luther in every film the same way I hate how Magneto is the villain in the three X-Men films...the score is completely overused too and maybe I'm alone here but I can't wait to see Cavill do something different with the part. Reeves was good but I wouldn't call him great by a long shot. The novelty ran out quick and I really hope the people involved with 'Man of Steel' can break the mold and do something special here.
Tainted87 - 9/2/2012, 7:18 AM
Weird, for a second I thought I saw William Fichtner, heh.
Facade - 9/2/2012, 7:21 AM
Reeves is not the FAIL in this failure.
Elijah06 - 9/2/2012, 7:23 AM
I never understood why everyone hated Brandon Routh as Superman.
Maxi91291 - 9/2/2012, 7:24 AM
Maybe because he was more like Superboy

Original idea...good.

Ripoff idea...uninspired.

Overall concept...lame.

Execution...horrible/amateurish at best.

Also: Good Lord, it's 2012, shouldn't we all expect everyone by now to know how to optimally save an image file. The pixelation/artifacts and smudges have no excuse for existing.
KingG - 9/2/2012, 7:29 AM
I dont really care for the work but I do think its the thought that counts. I like the idea. I hope this MAN OF STEEL is great, only god knows. I have faith in CBMs. I think Cavill will be amazing.
BIGBMH - 9/2/2012, 7:32 AM
Not bad, but it would make more sense as a magazine cover than an actual movie poster.
KingG - 9/2/2012, 7:38 AM
And for everyone who's bitching about stupid shit,
1. Reeves is the most classic SUPERMAN of all time and the original. FACTS.

2. The poster is basically saying how SUPERMAN has evolved in his cinematic career. Also that everything becomes new again.
Maxi91291 - 9/2/2012, 7:39 AM
Now this Reeves .. this one had the Superman jaw
KingG - 9/2/2012, 7:40 AM
LEVITIKUZ, well said.

I am deeply offended that ijack couldnt make comment without mentioning tasm lol

im with ROr@ if you find the wording in bad taste you need to ask your dealer to tone down the strength on your next batch :)

Aaaaaaah Reeves....the superman who deflected bullets but ducked when the gun was thrown at him ;p
teabag - 9/2/2012, 7:50 AM
Cipher@ thank you good sir but the comedy award should go to ijacksparrow :D
darkmetal - 9/2/2012, 7:53 AM
@LEVITIKUZ Tim Daly did a good voice for Superman but thats like saying an actor in a video game can be as good as a live action performance.
Reeves had to look the part, bulk up for the role and act with his whole body, not just go in front of a mic and talk.
Voice work is never in the same League as being in front of the camera no matter how great the voice work may be.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 9/2/2012, 7:53 AM
The ides of March.
Bodwulf - 9/2/2012, 7:57 AM
Until someone does it better you are the greatest. No one has done it better than Christopher Reeve......not yet.
dailycomicsfix - 9/2/2012, 7:57 AM
This iJackSparrow guy is "Political Correctness Gone Crazy" personified. Jeez man, chill out!!
KingG - 9/2/2012, 7:58 AM
Cipher, good point, thats why i said im so excited for MAN OF STEEL, im ready for a different/approach to SUPERMAN. That was the point i was trying to make with the TDK trilogy, people were ready for a different take on BATMAN. In contrast to the approach with the past BATMAN films, with KEATON, CLOONEY, KIMER etc.., so im all for my fav superhero having a little more edge.
KingG - 9/2/2012, 8:06 AM
Bodwulf, i agree. Reeves is classic, hopefully someone else (CAVILL) will come along and give something if not good if not great.

R.I.P. Mr. Reeves. May you never be forgotten.
