SDCC: Brainiac returning to Smallville for 200th Episode

SDCC: Brainiac returning to Smallville for 200th Episode

James Marsters, Sci Fi veteran actor, has announced during the Caprica panel at San Diego Comic Con revealed that he is returning to Smallville for its landmark 200th episode.

James Marsters confirmed that he will return to the long running super hero show portraying Superman before he becomes the iconic hero.

Whilst at a panel during Comic Con for the show Caprica, Marsters revealed he will be returning as Brainiac in the show's final season scheduled to be Episode 4 of Season 10. It follows the shows final season tradition of bringing back past characters from previous seasons.

Editor Note:For me this is a smart move. Brainiac is Clark's ultimate super villain, there is nobody that can match Brainiac's intelligence, power and control over everybody. I can't wait to see the storyline since the last remaining part of Brainiac was taken to the 31st century by the Legion of Super-Heroes to be reprogrammed.

SWEET!! I liked Marsters as Brainiac! He was refreshing after so much Lex Luthor. Not saying I don't LOVE Lex Luthor. Lex's return is the announcement I'm waiting for..
spectre1983 - 7/23/2010, 2:06 PM
I'm with you 100% Instigator. His portrayal as Brainiac was epic. Also give me Michael Rosenbaum as Lex for an exciting as hell Comic Con announcement.

Side note: Supernatural also rules.
spectre1983 - 7/23/2010, 2:18 PM
haha... @Taboo13 - No, If you could check out my avatar any better you'd realize that I'm wearing a freaking awesome Ghostbusters outfit.
InstigatorGIRL - 7/23/2010, 2:22 PM
@Spectre No. You rule sir! Not only because you like Supernatural but also because you're wearing a Ghostbusters uniform in your Avatar. ^_^ WOOT Awesome!
spectre1983 - 7/23/2010, 2:25 PM
@InstigatorGIRL It's amazing what you can do with $80 and an army surplus store! After all, it's my fav comedy of all time so you better believe I'm gonna wear it in my avatar!
InstigatorGIRL - 7/23/2010, 2:29 PM
LOL. Epic! @Spectre My all time favorite scene in that movie is the scene where they encounter a ghost for the first time in the library. LOL
BIGBMH - 7/23/2010, 2:29 PM
Hopefully it wont be "I return once again with another fiendish plot! Muahahah!" Give him an actual reason to return.
spectre1983 - 7/23/2010, 2:30 PM
Epic=Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor and Edward Norton as Hulk.

Me=only awesome.
spectre1983 - 7/23/2010, 2:31 PM
@InstigatorGIRL My favorite scene has to be when they're in the elevator at the Sedgewick Hotel. Too classic.
JoshWilding - 7/23/2010, 2:44 PM
He was a great Brainiac so it'll be interesting to see what they do with the character this time around! Now all we need is Michael Rosenbaum back as Lex Luthor and Clark finally in costume... :P
InstigatorGIRL - 7/23/2010, 2:46 PM
I was just thinking Brainiac might not be a villain this time if the Legion took him back to be reprogrammed. What do you guys think?
superdog - 7/23/2010, 2:47 PM
He will return as brainiac 5 from the future
LEEE777 - 7/23/2010, 2:49 PM
He was nearly as sh1t as BRAINIAC as SMALLVILLE's DOOMSDAY!

Bring back LEX ffs!

Still I suppose he's better than [frick]ing ZOD! : P
spectre1983 - 7/23/2010, 2:49 PM
Ooooh, nice take InstigatorGIRL. They were going to reprogram him weren't they? Now that would be epic!
InstigatorGIRL - 7/23/2010, 2:51 PM
@Spectre Yep I'm thinking what Superdog said. "Brainiac 5 from the future."
spectre1983 - 7/23/2010, 2:52 PM
Didn't they call him Brainiac 13 in Smallville though??
SHAZAM171 - 7/23/2010, 2:53 PM
spectre1983 - 7/23/2010, 2:53 PM

Smallville needs to stop being so damn cheap with the characters dammit. Marsters though a wonderful actor, is a horrible Brainiac for the simple reason he DOES NOT resemble the comic book Brainiac. I want him as either a green-skinned alien scientist (as he was originally conceived in the old Superman comics) or have him as an android. I'm sick of his human portrayal.

Deadpool813 - 7/24/2010, 8:37 AM
@InstigatorGIRL I was thinking the same thing, he should come back from the future but has a good Brainiac! I bet you, because if he's only back for 1 episode, Clark cant kill him again!
Weeton - 7/24/2010, 10:13 AM
this final season is going to be like a giant recap of the first 9 seasons.

we're gonna see all the villains and most likely all the people who died at some point or another.

over the top is all smallville has left.
Pooh - 7/24/2010, 10:46 PM
I'm actually a fan of Smallville, and even I'd say that the plants on the set were more interesting than James Marsters as Brainiac. But I'll admit his character was well written.
LP4 - 7/25/2010, 1:22 AM
@Dave Nichols- Don't call me a "turd". I was just stating my opinion, because as a fan of the COMIC BOOKS i expected more from Brainiac. Brainiac always used his green form while on earth! And I never said BLACK form you idiot, I said GREEN. Next time before you name-call, try being a little more respectful. And in case you didn't notice- "Toughgrappler" also had the same opinion as me just a few posts up where he said and i quote- "I want him to be GREEN dammit GREEN" so if i'm a "turd" for wanting Brainiac to look like his comic book version- which the comics ARE the SOURCE MATERIAL, then fine...whatever.
Twenty23Three - 7/25/2010, 7:50 AM
@LP4 - i understand that you want him to look like he does in the comics, hell probably even the producers for Smallville want the same, but financially they just cant do it. I think most of the time they give good reasons for these very alien characters to be so human though.
LP4 - 7/25/2010, 3:43 PM
@Twenty23Three- Yeah but i mean look at Cyborg...he looks completely human...when he should be half cyborg looking. Look at Martian Manhunter on smallville...same problem he looks human. Smallville is too friggin cheap. And now with Darkseid being announced for Smallville i'm excited but at the SDCC Smallville panel they announced he will "look different than what we're used to" that's retarded, i'm betting they'll make him a regular human looking alien just like all the others. If they can't do a character right, they shouldn't do it at all. But anyway thank you "Twenty23Three" for not attacking me like some nerds on this damn site.
LP4 - 7/25/2010, 3:46 PM
I think butchering- Brainiac, Cyborg, Martian Manhunter, Toyman and now possibly a little bit too much. The reason i mentioned Toyman is because yeah i know in some animation he's portrayed as a fat nerdy dude, but in most comic and t.v adaptations he's an actual doll. When I first heard about Toyman being in smallville a while back, i got excited and hoped he'd be the doll version. But oh well...smallville is just a cheap, cheap show. I hope Clark will at least wear the suit when he fights the human-looking darkseid.
Twenty23Three - 7/25/2010, 4:38 PM
@LP4 - life's to short to attack folk over the web haha. I totally agree with a lot of what you say. My main problem with cyborg is the fact hes even about this early in the timeline
LP4 - 7/26/2010, 12:55 AM
@Twenty23Three- Yeah i know...Smallville butchered that horribly. Technically Cyborg either shouldn't be born or should be MUCH younger than he is portrayed on Smallville. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed they won't mess up Darkseid. I've waited for him to appear on the show.

I'm also wondering how much screen-time Welling will get as Superman on the show?
