Kevin Spacey Shares His Thoughts On Jesse Eisenberg As Lex Luthor In BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN

Of all the complaints made about Bryan Singer's Superman Returns, it's rare that you ever see anyone criticising Kevin Spacey's take on Lex Luthor. Now, the House of Cards star shares his thoughts on Jesse Eisenberg taking on the role in Batman Vs. Superman!

Not everyone was overly pleased with Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder's decision to choose The Social Network's Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor for 2016's Batman Vs. Superman, but now another actor who has played the character shares his thoughts on the controversial casting decision. In an interview with Empire Magazine, Kevin Space had this today say in their latest issue. "First of all, I think [Jesse Eisenberg] is a remarkable actor. He's just going to fucking own it. I think it's a great idea and I wish him the best with it." However, it sounds as if we shouldn't expect to see Spacey taking on another comic book movie role any time soon, as he added: "But now I want to explore different terrain. I wrote Woody Allen a letter last year, saying I'd be keen to do something with him. And he wrote back, very charmingly, so I'm on the list now! I set him up with a Netflix subscription too, but I don't know if he's used it. So, yeah, it would be great if that happened. I'm going to write to Scorsese. There are a lot of directors I need to get letters out to..."

Lex is giving Superman the deadly green pipe...
CaptShipwreck - 2/27/2014, 4:35 AM
He was cool as lex
dckizzle - 2/27/2014, 4:36 AM
A lot of positive vibes about Jesse now
SuperCat - 2/27/2014, 4:41 AM
Spacey was a great choice for Lex. Just didn't care for the movie.

pepe - 2/27/2014, 4:43 AM
I had a strange dream of Eisenberg and Grif getting wild together... My first morning wood...
DVonShakari - 2/27/2014, 4:44 AM
He played a great Lex. And to be honest, no famous actor is going to come out to say anything blatantly negative about Jesse playing Lex. It would do more harm than good for the sake of their careers. You can post any actors thoughts on the decision, but they won't be honest about their feelings until the movie is done and over with...Hopefully Jesse can change some minds with his performance. If he sucks, people will say, "I knew it all along but didn't admit it." If he's great, people will say, "I knew he'd be great! I told you!"
DrunkenNukem - 2/27/2014, 4:54 AM
Mr. Underwood....

Hey he sucked big as Lex...all from that movie sucked
why do you have to remind me anything about that movie? [frick]
DVonShakari - 2/27/2014, 4:55 AM
Brandon Routh was a better Superman than Henry Cavill will ever be...
loki668 - 2/27/2014, 4:56 AM
This just in: Grif is currently traveling the world, learning the deadliest martial arts in the world. He's learning to use theatricality and deception to appear to be more than a man, to be a symbol. Unfortunately, he has no interest in altruism and could give a [frick] about humanity, he's doing this so that he can hunt down and eliminate Jesse Eisenberg.
MrReese - 2/27/2014, 4:56 AM
I [frick]in love this guy! 1st movie I saw him in was American Beauty.Such a great ack-tor. :)
DrunkenNukem - 2/27/2014, 4:57 AM
@pepe hey nice one... a twisted version of the TED movie then...
MrReese - 2/27/2014, 4:57 AM
Anybody here watch House of Cards? I heard he's good in it.

DVonShakari - 2/27/2014, 5:01 AM
If only Snyder could have directed Spacey and Routh together......THAT would have been magic
Pasto - 2/27/2014, 5:02 AM
Spacey is a phenomenal actor, liked him as Lex, hated that Bryan Singer directed it.
DVonShakari - 2/27/2014, 5:03 AM
Henry Cavill's hairline is already throwing in the towel. He's 6'1 and he had a bulky body with a skinny neck. Just looked kinda weird. Plus his acting ability is nowhere near that of Routh's
JediPhilosopher - 2/27/2014, 5:08 AM
DVonShakari, you're making no sense. It was primarily the writing and direction at fault in MOS. Actors do what they're told, taking liberties only when allowed to do so generally. Routh didn't have quite the physical look for Superman the way Cavill does.
JediPhilosopher - 2/27/2014, 5:12 AM
Hairlines? Yeah, maybe that's a problem. Mine went years ago. They really started Superman too old in MOS and I hate them for that. WTF are they doing, I keep asking.
batmanvsuperman - 2/27/2014, 5:14 AM
Henry was a awesome superman and will be good too stop hating all y'all life's clowns
DVonShakari - 2/27/2014, 5:14 AM
If Routh had proper direction and better lines, he'd kill as Superman in MoS
Rheynger - 2/27/2014, 5:17 AM
A couple of you are tards......
Henry cavill is the best superman. Hands down.
DVonShakari - 2/27/2014, 5:18 AM
All Routh would need to do is bulk up just a bit more. His costume was kind of wack, but he should be the MoS we're looking at today...
JediPhilosopher - 2/27/2014, 5:19 AM
"If Routh had proper direction and better lines, he'd kill as Superman in MoS"
So would Caville. :P
Rheynger - 2/27/2014, 5:20 AM
Yeah did you see dylon dog? He can't act his way out of a paper bag....
batz11 - 2/27/2014, 5:23 AM
Wonder what grif thinks...
Kyos - 2/27/2014, 5:24 AM
In a serious, fresh Superman movie Spacey could have been a great, great Lex. Sadly they decided to cast him in the wannabe-Donner-sequel. Hackman's Lex is one of my least favourite incarnations of the character.

DVonShakari - 2/27/2014, 5:25 AM
Under the same circumstances, he'd kill the performance just a bit more than Cavill would..
JDUKE25 - 2/27/2014, 5:25 AM
Didn't care for Spacey as Lex.
JediPhilosopher - 2/27/2014, 5:26 AM
I have to keep looking up his name. I assume people are spelling it right, then somebody spells it differently. Here it is: Henry Cavill
Notice everybody, no E at the end.
And Brandon Routh, also no E at the end.
Pasto - 2/27/2014, 5:29 AM
Definition of 'Circle hits/gets the square': When someone answers a question correctly or says something that you especially agree with. May be referred to as 'And circle gets the square', or 'And circle hits the square.'

I personally favor the latter.

This is for those of you who haven't been quite understanding what I've been saying.

whoa123 - 2/27/2014, 5:30 AM
A Scorsese/Spacey team-up? Hell yes to that!
SuperCat - 2/27/2014, 5:30 AM
LOL @ MrReese

JediPhilosopher - 2/27/2014, 5:30 AM
Yeah basically these actors, when they hear the question "what do you think of this actor for that character?" they're really hearing "Do you want be perceived as a dick and say something bad about this actor?"
DVonShakari - 2/27/2014, 5:33 AM
Routh was best and Spacey was almost as good as Hackman playing Lex
JediPhilosopher - 2/27/2014, 5:38 AM
And both Spacey and Hackman were playing down-and-out Lex's, which was, again, stupid, WB. And now they'll be fixing at least that about Lex, but now he'll be too young and not really look right at all. I keep saying, wtf..
Prime - 2/27/2014, 5:38 AM
Cavill is awesome and actually looks like Supes. Stop berating shit.
supermarioworldE - 2/27/2014, 5:39 AM
He would've been the best Luthor if they just made Returns a reboot.

I love Gene Hackman, but it's about time we see the modern age Lex on the big screen.

And no, Mark Zuckerberg doesn't count.
Kang - 2/27/2014, 5:40 AM
Routh was a terrible Superman and Spacey was a terrible Lex. Superman Returns, as a whole, was crap!
Brainiac13 - 2/27/2014, 5:43 AM

JediPhilosopher - 2/27/2014, 5:44 AM
Lex is one of those characters they could have gone many ways with casting and I'd have been fine. But as usual, they went too far, for what??? I mean, this casting makes no sense. Seems to be a blatant disrespect for all source material. As if change for the sake of change is exactly the intention.
