FEATURE: Five Reasons To Be Excited For MAN OF STEEL

FEATURE: Five Reasons To Be Excited For MAN OF STEEL

Last week Warner Brothers unleashed the new Man Of Steel trailer on the world, and it was met with joy and praise. Check out this short list I complied that should get you even more excited to see Superman make his return to the big screen.

The world may not be ready for Superman, but audiences were ready for the new trailer that Warner Brothers released last week. The dust has settled on the trailer unavailing, and while people are excited about the film, I figured I'd put together this list of things that should get you more excited for the movie. Check out the list below and feel free to add things your excited for in the comment section below.

Henry Cavill As Superman

A lot was made out of Zack Snyder casting a British actor as the very all American character of Superman. However, when the first photo of Cavill popped up you can just see this guy was born to play Superman. There were some concerns on how well he could pull of an American accent as well. These concerns were immediately erased for me when I heard Cavill's monologue at the end to the trailer about the World possibly not being ready for him. He has dedicated him self to the role working out tirelessly, and it really shows when he puts on the suit.

Zack Snyder Has Designed Some Great Looking Flying Scenes

One thing that Superman Returns DID have, was some pretty spectacular flying scenes. It would seem that Zack Snyder has accepted the challenge of making even better ones for Man Of Steel. While we only get a couple of seconds of Superman flying in the trailer, Snyder has used some cool FXs to show not only how graceful he can be while flying, but how powerful he can be as well. The shot of Supes flying around the world is breath taking and had me mesmerized, and I am looking forward to seeing more of it showcased when the movie is released.

Superman Faces A Real Threat

Superman has drawn a lot of criticism over the years for being too powerful. People want to know what exactly it is that could take him down. The trailer showed a shot of Superman falling to the ground with blood coming out of his nose and mouth, which seems to imply that he might not be as powerful as he has been in the past. It wasn't a popular choice at the time, but General Zod is a perfect first villain for Big Blue due to him being able to pose a real threat. The brilliant and talented Michael Shannon was cast as Zod, and while I love Terrence Stamp, I'm looking forward to him putting his own mark on the character.

The Supporting Cast

Snyder has managed to assemble a perfect set of supporting cast members for the almost other wise unknown Cavill. From Russell Crowe to Amy Adams there is no lack of talent in the movie. We were shown just how good Crowe, Clark's biological father Jor-El, and Kevin Costner, his adoptive father Jonathan Kent, are going to be when the first trailer was released. When the second trailer was released we got to see how sweet and loving Diane Lane will be as his adoptive mother Martha. And while we haven't really got to see much of Adams as Lois Lane I have high hopes for her (Even if she doesn't look just like the comic book version). Throw in Lawrence Fishburn, Christopher Meloni, Richard Schiff, as well as how well Dylan Sprayberry played a young Clark in the trailer, and we should be in for a treat.

Superman Will Punch Something

It's the question that has been asked since the film was announced, will Superman punch something? Snyder has not only answered that question with an authoritative yes, he has embraced the concept it head on. Between Supes being knocked into the bank vault, and him flying full speed towards what looks to be Zod it appears there will be not shortage of action in this film. It also suggests that not only will he be fighting, but he will have some knock down drag out fights.

Once again these are just somethings to get you even more excited for the film, even though it probably didn't take much convincing after the trailer. Have something you're excited for that wasn't on my list? Leave it down in the comments section below, and feel free to discuss it among your selves. Im also happy that it looks like either through Supes fighting Zod or Zod attacking Metropolis, there will be some major structual damage to the city, im hoping its from actual fight scenes and see Supes and his foes flying and being thrown through buildings :]
GoILL - 12/19/2012, 10:37 AM
Good list, i'm excited for every cbm next year with the exception of The Wolverine.
SageMode - 12/19/2012, 10:40 AM
Only time will tell.
I'm being very cautiously optimistic about this..............
CPIXLEY - 12/19/2012, 10:42 AM

Can't wait for this baby!
I have a feeling this is going to do for Superman what 'Batman Begins' did for Batman, hopefully this will kick-start the DC cinematic universe and help DC finally get their shit together!
DEATHbyEXILE - 12/19/2012, 10:44 AM
Here's hoping...
CharacterAssassin - 12/19/2012, 10:44 AM
Two minor things I didn't like about the trailer(s) were the words being stressed by the lady that her kid was "IN" the bus and the way Cavill says "CONVINCED". It's like they turned up the volume on those two words and it gets kind of annoying when it's played over and over again.
ATrueHero1987 - 12/19/2012, 10:45 AM
@GoILL I concur with your statement.
MyInnerDork - 12/19/2012, 10:48 AM
Well....those reasons definitely didn't get me excited. Keep trying.
superotherside - 12/19/2012, 10:49 AM
Fantastic list bro. I'd say you touched on most everything I'm excited about. Although the soundtrack is another thing I'm excited for. I'm hoping that the music playing over the trailers is the theme for Superman. Or at least is included in the movie in some way.
Darkknight23 - 12/19/2012, 10:53 AM
Could be THE summer movie of 2013
subzero1077 - 12/19/2012, 10:57 AM
@CharacterAssassin ...really? It's called acting. You put STRESS on the WORDS that are the most IMPORTANT.
MRgimp - 12/19/2012, 11:00 AM
If anyone has any doubts about Cavill pulling off an all American accent...they should watch the film Blood Creek...he does an amazing job.
KillerSE7EN - 12/19/2012, 11:04 AM
@dickbelt are you serious? not only was it a pretty damn cool trailer, but you're making a fuss about a TRAILER. just how much do you want to be revealed before you actually see the movie anyway?
InfiniteMonkey - 12/19/2012, 11:12 AM
All this is just bloody talk and speculation.
If this [frick]er saves a [frick]ing cat from a tree one more time...Uhhh...
rbfn04 - 12/19/2012, 11:35 AM
Dude looks like Superman but dresses like Ultraman.
thaonly1guly - 12/19/2012, 11:38 AM
@dickbelt Oh, Dickbelt, what can I say about you that hasn't already been said about Afghanistan. You are obviously one of those that want to be difficult on here all the time.

Stop trying so hard to be GRIF...clown.

Oh yeah and The Man of Steel trailer [frick]in' rocked!!!
FirstAvenger - 12/19/2012, 11:41 AM
I'm being cautious don't want another green lantern.
kirklazarus87 - 12/19/2012, 11:44 AM
To think this movie was set to come out this week before it was changed. Wish it was coming out this week.
Stumblin - 12/19/2012, 11:44 AM
@thaonly1guly, dude, dickbelt is grif.

And yes, MOS will most certainly be awesome. If not then I give up on Superman.
soberchimera - 12/19/2012, 11:48 AM
The trailer was basically the comic con footage in HD with a few snippets of new stuff. But I'm glad it didn't reveal too much.
Alvahnomicron - 12/19/2012, 11:52 AM
Solid trailer. When they show Supes tapping into Earth's magnetic field, right before he launches himself into orbit, made the hair on my arms stand on end.
MJPETTY7 - 12/19/2012, 11:55 AM
thaonly1guly - 12/19/2012, 12:01 PM
@rbfn04 Okay, I've been wanting to say this for about a year now...GET OVER IT, DUDE!!!

Talk about beating a dead horse. Until you become head of WB either accept it or don't watch it but in the mean time...Stop Complaining! Sh*t!!!
Superheromovies2000 - 12/19/2012, 12:05 PM
Like I said b4 After this Trailer I'm very satisfied and I won't watch another trailer for this movie again because I don't want these trailers ruining the movie like Avengers, TDKR and TASM did!!
TheKingbreaker - 12/19/2012, 12:17 PM
I may be mistaken but in whatever matrix neo starts to fly in doesn't michael from lost say "there's neo doing his superman thing"?
angus666 - 12/19/2012, 12:33 PM
I'm so excited for this...
datNAMEtho - 12/19/2012, 12:37 PM
Dude, Superman Returns didn't even had good flying scenes, everything sucked there.

This, on the other hand, looks very good!!! I can't wait to see this spectacle in IMAX next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maximus101 - 12/19/2012, 12:37 PM
Reading the comments and the only ones saying negative things are marvel fanboys. Amazing director, producers, writers and actors. start being real fanboys for god sake.
Pau1y - 12/19/2012, 12:47 PM
I am very excited for this movie. The cinematography looks superb along with everything else. I loved Avengers and was severely underwhelmed by TDKR hopefully there will be a semi meeting ground for them here with a consistent/coherent story and grand action pieces (not to mention good acting (Marion I'm looking at you and your terrible death).
PeterParker1991 - 12/19/2012, 12:52 PM
Pumped for this movie. Origin better be done in flashbacks though
Nomadic1 - 12/19/2012, 12:55 PM
After the last Superman movie, I'm keeping expectations in check. I do think the trailer could have been better.
RadicalDuck - 12/19/2012, 12:58 PM
I'm not even a Superman fan (I'm more of a Spider-Man and Batman guy) but I've got to say that this movie looks so freaking good! Definitely on my most-anticipated list.
Digitaria51 - 12/19/2012, 1:09 PM
@dickbelt f*cks his mother, and thus should be treated like a motherf*cker.
rbfn04 - 12/19/2012, 1:13 PM
@thaonly1guly sure dude, since you asked, I won't talk about how Snyder's suit missed a great chance to be an amazing redesign. Just cause you asked nicely. ROFL

@Nomis1800 Saving the airplane, flying around Metropolis when stuff was getting destroyed. Both amazing flying scenes
Thanos005 - 12/19/2012, 1:20 PM
I was very critical of Zod being the villain in the past, and while I still would have preferred a new villain, I am way excited to see Zod and Supes duke it out. Looks awesome.
BruceWayneNewton - 12/19/2012, 1:39 PM
There are so many reasons to be pumped for this movie. Definitely the most anticipated and I hope it will be the best CBM of the year and because Supes deserves it. We had better have a completely different villain in the sequel or combination of villains
Durf - 12/19/2012, 1:48 PM
I totally agree with the real threat and punching something points. While I would have preferred a new villain instead of doing Zod again, I can live with him since Supes can actually [frick]ing punch him!

No more Lex Luthor. Worst archenemy ever! Supes could have killed him year ago with one punch and it would have saved him a lot of trouble.
AmazingFantasy - 12/19/2012, 1:49 PM
Words cannot express how excited I am
