The first teaser trailer for Man Of Steel hit yesterday, and probably took a few people by surprise. In the below vid Charles Roven recognizes that it may not have been what many fans were expecting, but that it reflects that they are doing something different, and bringing us a Superman we have never seen before. He also compares Superman to Batman, and says they really wanted to make this character with extraordinary powers relatable, and "emotionally compelling to people"..

Superman takes to the skies once more as acclaimed actor Henry Cavill (The Tudors, Immortals) dons the suit, cape and S-shield of the MAN OF STEEL. With an all-star cast that includes Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as John and Martha Kent, Clark’s earthbound parents; Oscar® winner Russell Crowe as Superman's Kryptonian father Jor-El; The Fighter's Amy Adams as intrepid Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane; The Matrix's Laurence Fishburne as editor Perry White; and Boardwalk Empire's Michael Shannon as Superman’s otherworldly archenemy General Zod, populations from Smallville to Metropolis are psyched for Superman. With the directorial stylings of 300's Zack Snyder and the superheroic production team behind Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, the sky's the limit for the last son of Krypton!

Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel hits theaters June 14th, 2013.

I think I'm not alone in saying this but Fox has seriously screwed themselves by releasing all these 'The Watch' adds. I'm never going to see this film besed solely on all these annoying adds...
jok3rsc0usin - 7/22/2012, 8:30 AM
I can't wait for the full trailer!!!
SUPERMAN2013 - 7/22/2012, 8:35 AM
I kinda like hes not just going to the fortress and putting on the suit and saving people,kinda supprised me seeing him hitchhike when he can just fly in the teaser too
MrShumway - 7/22/2012, 8:40 AM
Good interview. There was also an interview with Nolan this week where he said that MOS is going to be remarkable and two interviews with Zimmer where talks about MOS and also says that Henry Cavill will bring humanity to the role. But I haven't seen it posted on CBM, dunno why. :P
MarkV - 7/22/2012, 8:45 AM
The teaser trailers are perfect.
R888 - 7/22/2012, 8:49 AM
Can't wait for this, finally a good superman film :)
dxperry - 7/22/2012, 8:50 AM
The trailer was a huge disappointment
Action - 7/22/2012, 8:51 AM
I like that superman will be brought down to earth and have emotional issues, with being an alien.
InfiniteMonkey - 7/22/2012, 8:58 AM
Loads of inflated rubbish. We can hope and wish all we want but until the movie comes out, this is just still another homage to the old Superman.
Looks like there might be a save a cat from a tree scene and that will just be a waste. Skeptical until proven otherwise.
jazzman - 7/22/2012, 8:59 AM
@SUPERMAN2013

he could just fly but he is trying to understand both his human and alien side.

@dxperry

its a teaser so they did agood job.
dahamma - 7/22/2012, 8:59 AM
Im liking what Im hearing about his. So looking forward to this film. My most anticipated of 2013
rebellion - 7/22/2012, 8:59 AM
i really liked the teaser... it reminded me of how i felt when i saw the first batman begins trailer.
dahamma - 7/22/2012, 9:02 AM
yeah you guys this was an announcement or teaser trailer. It was good for that. I mean the TDKR teaser was just the words THE DARK KNIGHT RISES on a white screen and people lost their minds. Atleast this shows footage
ManofSteel91 - 7/22/2012, 9:10 AM
The movies going to be great I cannot wait!!
DioFoRio - 7/22/2012, 9:11 AM
for everybody who is disappointed in the teaser. That's what teasers do they disappoint. Keep you wanting more. We all know at least one.
ThatOneDude - 7/22/2012, 9:36 AM
Just read Superman Earth One and then saw the trailer...
I wanna see the movie NOW!
CrimsonReign - 7/22/2012, 9:41 AM
Comic-con trailer was much better but the two voice-over (Costner/Crowe) works well. But it really underwhelms. I suppose they will ramp it up over the course of the next 10 months or so.
xXkryptoniteXx - 7/22/2012, 9:49 AM
To the people saying "They used the LOTR's music." The movies isn't even done and not ready till next year, do you want a rush job on the music? Also WB and New Line are the same. They also just annoce Hans Zimmer has the score covered but he won't do a rush job. Take a chill pill, it's just a teaser. A tease till you see the trailer then the movie.

If anything the teaser was great because it actually shows the audience that this is a new superman unlike any other that people who expect from a superman movie. I like the fact that you don't even know its a superman movie till you see the title and him flying, I like how the picture looks, very grounded and not like a love action cartoon flick.

Marvel has there DNA in there films while WB/DC have there's. WB made so much money with there franchise with Harry potter and Nolan's batman, and I see that man of steel is in the same line as those. There doing something new to it and I welcome it since its not gonna be like the other comic book movies out there, I like how marvel, fox and WB/DC have there own take on comic book movies. It's better, just as long as they learn from there mistakes. All of these companies mistakes on there own banners.

Also marvel just got bought off from Disney so we don't even know what can be effected by this merger till the new batch of marvel movies. Please don't say avengers was under Disney, cause avengers was in motion when disney bought marvel. All Disney did was advertisement in avengers. All we fans will do is wait from marvel/Disney, Fox with there xmen and WB/DC with there new superman movie.
Nubase - 7/22/2012, 9:55 AM
When the Hobbit comes out in december the first full trailer will be attached to it, we just need to wait a while longer and theres nothnig wrong with that.

Kevinwillpeabodyproperties - 7/22/2012, 9:56 AM
superman2012 where did you get that logo. its badass
SuspenseSmith - 7/22/2012, 10:42 AM
I've never seen this guy before, but I like his thinking. If they follow the "emotionally compelling to people" rule of thumb for the DC universe, Justice League might acutally be really good.
SuspenseSmith - 7/22/2012, 10:43 AM
*actually
astromerc - 7/22/2012, 11:05 AM
@xXkryptoniteXx They could have shown the comic con trailer it was 100% better.What was done was fantastic! In the comic con trailer they used Hans Zimmer's music.I believe they missed good opportunity to show the real show the real Superman.

so whats your failed point.

This music from Has Zimmer TRUMPS that Howard Shore LOTR crap big time.

Minotauro - 7/22/2012, 11:11 AM
@SuspenseSmith - "If they follow the rule of thumb for the DC Universe.

They have to, or should. Because DC pretty much always adds emotionally compelling stories in their comics. I've never felt emotional reading a marvel comic. That's is what I like about DC comics and movies. This is good news.
whoelsebutkevin - 7/22/2012, 11:34 AM
Just watched some of Returns and all they did was cheap us fans of Supes out of a good movie and they just worked off their prior success. I'm glad its a remake and whole new take on it, New Jor-el, New Music, better action sequences because this is in fact SUPERman. He should be blowing crap up in his climatic battles not carry a rock of Kryptonite to space. They just tried too hard quite frankly.

I have complete Faith in Zach Snyder bringing up a proper Superman movie. It might not be the best movie ever but its interpretation into movie form is what I can look forward to the most and respect.

*Side note....My two-year old son is just starting to go crazy for Superman, I find myself being asked to do the 'Superman' through the house now. :)
rbfn04 - 7/22/2012, 11:42 AM
How do youn make him relatable by making him "more alien"?
xXkryptoniteXx - 7/22/2012, 11:43 AM
@astromerc

You mean the thin red line music that they used on a exclusive comic con trailer??? Isn't comic con a place where you see exclusive stuff? That makes fans want to go there because you won't see it in the Internet like the people who didnt go to comic con. It really don't matter cause the teaser is what we got and I think it's a great tease and better then the dark knight teaser back in 2009(batman's logo with audio from the movie playing).

Also I said it earlier and I'll say it again the teaser for man of steel just showed the direction there going for and the music plays out very fitting to the teaser. Regardless if it ain't a hand Zimmer or not.

So my failed point you so called called it was that the teaser is great for what it is, just a tease and they can't used the EXCLuSIVE trailer from comic con cause for what I just said from above. The song your comparing to isn't even a man of steel score but a thin red line score from back then. The score in the teaser just fits the tone of what a teaser suppose to be and not even the real music since hans Zimmer hasn't begun making a score for it.

It's a teaser so chill out, the movie isn't even coming out in another year. Wait for the real trailer then wait for the film, then youll see the final product.

You dumb ass.
xXkryptoniteXx - 7/22/2012, 11:44 AM
Also why show all your cards? Reveal it in the grand finale.
CaptainMaximum - 7/22/2012, 11:45 AM
I felt cheated that there was no superman teaser for imax of tdkr
xXkryptoniteXx - 7/22/2012, 11:46 AM
@astromerc

I know a thing about marketing and they did good so chill out, it's marketing and that's why it's called a teaser, to tease. A girl never teased you? You never got laid?
rbfn04 - 7/22/2012, 11:51 AM
@xXkryptoniteXx with a teaser that had a lot of people saying: "emo and drab"?
xXkryptoniteXx - 7/22/2012, 12:00 PM
@rbfn04

Did you even watch what the guy just said in the video and also what zack synder was saying? A new take on superman, damn. If your a true superman fan you would be open to the change of take on a character that is very easy to make fun of because of his powers and looks and how his a big blue boy scout. Superman needs a new modern take. Emo superman? Not even close, did you watch the movie? Are you baseing on the teaser? To me it looks like a very grounded and well done film with great cinetography like batman begins.

Not all comic book movies should be the same as the avengers. If it is then comic book movies well be out dated. *sigh* comic book fans gotta grow up.
rbfn04 - 7/22/2012, 12:06 PM
@xXkryptoniteXx: did I say I said that? I'm saying that's the reaction I got from people. How are they supposed to react when they see a "looking for myself" storyline?

How did the teaser do it's job when that's the reaction people had? That or "meh, boring"
Super12 - 7/22/2012, 12:49 PM
I don't know who any of those artists are at the end lol
SHHH - 7/22/2012, 1:57 PM
It Was Not A Trailer It Is A Teaser... Big Difference..
musashi - 7/22/2012, 2:57 PM
I'm not going to say that this is a great Superman movie until I actually see it. I'm hopeful and impressed with what I've seen so far. But I've been fooled by so many trailers showing the best bits of the movie that I'm cautious but optimistic.
Beatnation - 7/22/2012, 4:48 PM
MAN OF STEEL Comic Con Trailer in bigger and better quality:

astromerc - 7/22/2012, 5:14 PM
@ Beatnation Dude you rock ty!
astromerc - 7/22/2012, 5:20 PM
@ xXkryptoniteXx

What ever you sell in your marketing experience must not sell well. Just watch the trailer and weep as all true fans did when they saw this,

or are you a real fan!

ClarkKentSuperman - 7/22/2012, 5:44 PM
just seen the comic con trailer and OMG this movie looks like it will be AMAZING
mgeoff88 - 7/22/2012, 6:07 PM
I've been wanting to see a Superman movie that does a more modern and relatable take on Supes' origins.

Something akin to Secret Origin and/or Birthright. I can't wait for this movie!

@rbfn04 You make a character with the powers of a God more relatable, by making his personality and struggles more human.

This isn't a polished Clark Kent/Superman. This is someone who is struggling very hard to find their place in the world.

@Beatnation Bro, you're awesome!
aztecRaingod - 7/22/2012, 8:04 PM
You will believe that Superman is an Emo-kid trapped in the body of a god.
xXkryptoniteXx - 7/22/2012, 8:08 PM
@astromerc

A true fan would like any superman movie that comes into the screen and especially when it has another big budget direction with great filmmakers behind it. Also i do sell plenty, I'm good. Are you?
xXkryptoniteXx - 7/22/2012, 8:12 PM
@astromerc

You still haven't answered my question, you never got teased by a girl and gotten laid with them have you? Cause you seem to act like you don't know what a teaser is.
rbfn04 - 7/22/2012, 8:32 PM
@mgeoff88 so you make him angsty and emo? Why? Think the general oublic really want to see an emo Superman? Do you?

"A true fan would like any superman movie that comes into the screen" yeah, no...
rbfn04 - 7/22/2012, 8:36 PM
and, please, mgeoff88, that's not my words, those are non comic books fan saying. (tho, I gotta say I agree).
Godzillafart - 7/22/2012, 8:37 PM
I don't know where all the disappointment is coming from. I thought the teaser was one of the most beautiful trailers of any kind I have seen in a very long time. It made me much more interested in the movie.

You know what would have bored me? Superman throwing a tank or some shit.
rbfn04 - 7/22/2012, 8:43 PM
@Godzillafart not gonna cut and paste here, but I read a ton of people talking about this. Words most used were "emo, drab, angsty". Not a lot of "exciting, teary eyed"...
astromerc - 7/22/2012, 9:03 PM
@ xXkryptoniteXx
I don't get "teased" by women, I just get it. So I guess I would not know anything about that so you win...How does it feel ?

So you had respect for Superman 3 & 4 as well as Returns ? No wonder you get teased so much sounds like you will take anything you can get. Look Superman is a great character he was always ment to be, but his film interpretations have been lackluster.

Technology has been a great part of these short comings. However now in this day and time we should all except more and be given such.

Oh yes in 30mins after I post this I will be getting some so.....How about you?
xXkryptoniteXx - 7/22/2012, 9:07 PM
@astromerc

Ask your mom, I can tell your bullshiting lol
Your a loser and I don't need to tell you that, you know you are.
