New Descriptions of Michael Bay's "Darker" TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (Via Toys)

Sources for Bleeding Cool and Brick Fanatics were at the London Toy Fair today and even though photography was forbidden they did jot down some details of the toys for the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Which are darker!

At the London Toy Fair today, LEGO presented some of their brand new playsets. The playsets that we're most interested in, were the ones for the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninnja Turtles. An official look at these characters is still a closely guarded secret, so everyone in attendance was warned not to take pictures of the movie playsets. The websites, Bleeding Cool and Brick Fanatics, had some their own foot clan members on the scene and they have some interesting new tidbits for you to chew on. Oh, and perhaps the most interesting tidbit is that the character Karai seems to have a meaty role, as she has her own mini-figure/playset. For those you that aren't familiar with Karai, she is a high-ranking member of the Foot Clan, who sometimes is portrayed as having a familial connection to Shredder. She first appeared in Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's comic book (1992).
There were three movie sets from the Turtles movie: Turtle Van Takedown, Big Rig Snow Escape and The New Turtle Lair. The Turtle movie minifigs were on display and so close to the cartoon themed ones the design differences were obvious. They were certainly darker, literally darker, a darker shade of green and chunkier.

The Splinter figure was chunkier too and had shortened legs to make sure he stands lower than Turtle height. None of them looked too friendly either. You certainly won’t mistake the movie and TV versions of these characters.

I asked a little about and was told some things about the other sets that I didn’t get too good of a look at. One is a motorbike chase with Karai, another is a submarine set and there was also the Turtles’ T-Rocket too, but as far as I could tell, these were tie-ins to the show and not the movie. - Bleeding Cool

TMNT movie sets will be Turtle Van Takedown, Big Rig Snow Getaway, Turtle Lair New figs: Leatherhead, Spiderbytez, Kirby Bat, Karai (movie and show versions). Differently styled Turtles in the movie sets, much darker. Splinter has short legs. - Brick Fanatics

NINJA TURTLES will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman ("Wrath of the Titans"), and produced by Michael Bay ("The Rock"). The script was written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, based on characters created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The cast includes: Megan Fox as April O'Neil, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Danny Woodburn as Splinter, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Will Arnett as Vernon and William Fichtner as Shredder. It lands in theaters June 6th, 2014.

I want this movie to turn out more like Transformer's 3 and not like Transformers 2. The difference being number 2 sucked hard and number 3 was cool.
Interestein - 1/21/2014, 5:09 PM
I'm actually excited for this.
ALegendaryPanda - 1/21/2014, 5:14 PM

Well I guess we'll all just have to go in blind then! Lol

Although I'm surprised nothing has leaked yet, especially for a big movie like this.
Objectivelybiased - 1/21/2014, 5:14 PM

campblood - 1/21/2014, 6:25 PM

CaptainDC52 - 1/21/2014, 6:32 PM
What the heck is this movie gonna look like? It's got train wreck written all over it. But I'am curious.
Inhuman - 1/21/2014, 6:33 PM
Im one of the biggest Turtle fans of all time. I hope we get a good trilogy
ibravosp5 - 1/21/2014, 6:34 PM
We just need some first looks at the turtles... I'm pretty sure that there are at least some cgi-ified versions of the turtles if not finalized.
acidbath - 1/21/2014, 6:37 PM
Yes it was confirmed on micheal bays twitter no trail or images just one still shot of an explosion with the word turtle in front of it.

@ this movie

TheRaven20 - 1/21/2014, 7:19 PM
Why would they give Shredder short legs? Dosnt make sense to me. Usually only legos that get short legs are dwarves, hobbits, children or midgets. Even if he's shorter in the movies its really odd that he would be given short legs.
BaneSmash - 1/21/2014, 7:37 PM
I want a trailer damn it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Heroes in a half-shell
Turtle power!

They're the world's most fearsome fighting team (We're really hip!)
They're heroes in a half-shell and they're green (Hey - get a grip!)
When the evil Shredder attacks
These Turtle boys don't cut him no slack!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Splinter taught them to be ninja teens (He's a radical rat!)
Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines (That's a fact, Jack!)
Raphael is cool but crude (Gimme a break!)
Michaelangelo is a party dude (Party!)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Heroes in a half shell
Turtle power!
mgeoff88 - 1/21/2014, 9:14 PM
I'm not really expecting much with Michael Bay involved.

What you can expect is all action no substance. You can get away with that when giant alien robots are fighting each other, but not with the Ninja Turtles.
breakUbatman - 1/21/2014, 9:41 PM

Splinter not Shredder, its a universal law of Kung Fu that the greater the height differential between the master and student the greater the kung fu ability, any deviation from this rule must be compensated for by an equivalent amount of facial hair on the master's part.

See Pai Mei, Mr. Miyagi, Master Shifu and Drunken Master for reference
