TMNT Co-Creator On Megan Fox Being Cast As April O'Neil In Michael Bay's NINJA TURTLES
Peter Laird, co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (with Kevin Eastman), has briefly commented on actress, Megan Fox, landing the role of April O'Neil, in the Michael Bay-produced Ninja Turtles.
So far Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles has endured it's fair share of turmoil. It began with Bay stating that the Turtles would be of an alien origin. Then an early version of the script leaked online, that by most accounts was an embarrassment. Not to mention the release date has been playing hopscotch with the calendar, and a halt in production took place so that the budget could be trimmed.
Even with all of these headaches Kevin Eastman has continued to sing the praises of Michael Bay and his version of a live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. Much of Kevin's cheerleading surely stems from his insider access to the project, giving input on the script and the look of the film itself.
While Peter Laird has been on the opposite side of that fence, vocalizing his displeasure. The latest uproar has come from the news that Megan Fox has been cast as April O'Neil, and Laird has chimed in this time as well.
"My only exposure to Megan Fox as an actress is through her role in two "Transformers" movies and the wretched (but happily forgettable) "Jennifer's Body". It may not be fair to judge her range of acting skills just from those three movies, but I think it is safe to say that there are probably hundreds of better choices for the role of April O'Neil. Of course, her name has promotional value, and maybe that's what they want. Who knows? I can't get myself too worked up about it." - Peter Laird
NINJA TURTLES will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman ("Wrath of the Titans"), and produced by Michael Bay ("The Rock"). Currently the only official cast member is Megan Fox as April O'Neil. It lands in theaters June 6th, 2014.
