When in 2005 Marvel Studios announced that they would begin to produce their own properties as movies, we knew that within the decade we would see the Avengers. With 2008 seeing Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk hitting screens, you just know that there is going to be some avengers set up.

Turning from a company who simply licenses its characters out to other studios in to a studio that makes the movies themselves has allowed Marvel a lot more freedom. However this freedom has sadly run up against the wall of past and possibly future labor issues. Take the jump for why 2009 might only see one Marvel movie hit the big screens.

It has taken me a little bit to get around to this, but I blame it on the fact that my circadian rhythm is shot to hell and back. Nonetheless, Marvel has signed a deal with the WGA, but it may be moot if the talks continue to go well.
