Grant Gustin Signs Up To Play THE FLASH; New Details On His Introduction In ARROW

Three actors were in the running to play The Flash in the upcoming second season of Arrow, but it's Grant Gustin (Glee, 90210) who has won the coveted role. Hit the jump for comments from the actor as well as details on how the character will be introduced in the grounded world of the CW series.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that it will be Grant Gustin who brings Barry Allen to life in the second season of Arrow and a potential spin-off of his own. "I’m unbelievably excited," the Glee actor told the site. "I’ve been a lifelong fan of DC Comics, so I can’t be more honored and can’t wait to get started." The plan for the character to appear in three episode of Arrow remains the same, with his final appearance planned as a back door pilot of his own series. However, how exactly will the grounded CW series deal with the introduction of the super speedster? "Part of the fun for the audience is to see how we view our Arrow take on the Flash legacy," Andrew Kreisberg said. "Some of it will feel very familiar to DC Comics, some of it hopefully will feel different, fresh and exciting. The same way we approached Arrow is the same way we're approaching Barry. There will be extraordinary events in the world and the characters will react in the same way" Barry Allen is described as being a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who comes to Starling City to look into a series of unexplained robberies which he believes may be connected to his tragic past. As a comic book fanboy, Allen is apparently obsessed with Arrow and ends up working with Oliver and Felicity before crossing paths with the vigilante.

Not too keen on a 23 year old Barry Allen.
LEVITIKUZ - 9/13/2013, 4:19 PM
Like it. Dude looks young, innocent in a way. That's how Barry should be.

But how does he feel dying his hair blond? I don't [frick]ing care if he does but they said they preferred blondes.
ndwwrestler2 - 9/13/2013, 4:19 PM
I'm gonna wait and see. I just hope they know what they are doing.

his posture is quite similar with andrew garfield imo
LEVITIKUZ - 9/13/2013, 4:24 PM
Barry should be young. Flash has always been the youngest of the League in terms of humans. Bruce, Hal, Queen, and others should be older.

I don't know how well he can act but I dig it.

Man I called Barry should be 25ish. Dude's 23.
Jollem - 9/13/2013, 4:25 PM

thebearjew - 9/13/2013, 4:28 PM

The old 90s show barry was a brunette also
Is it that much work to dye your hair?
CharlesKnight94 - 9/13/2013, 4:29 PM
My doubt is would he be Flash in a future Justice League film?
HAILHYDRA - 9/13/2013, 4:29 PM
I recognize him! He's a member of One Direction. No?
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 9/13/2013, 4:29 PM
@MrSundayNight - Was there a reason for you to call him that, dude? Really? Let's take it easy with the language, there, man.
Brainiac13 - 9/13/2013, 4:30 PM

Mike89 - 9/13/2013, 4:30 PM

bazinga85 - 9/13/2013, 4:31 PM
I'm not familiar with this guy, but I'm sure he'll do a great job. Can't wait!
HAILHYDRA - 9/13/2013, 4:31 PM
Does anyone seriously think that DC/WB is gonna use this guy for Flash in a JL movie now?
LoudLon - 9/13/2013, 4:32 PM
Well, this clinches it. Arrow is the new Smallville. I was hoping they'd keep the show more reality-based like the first season.

CaptainObvious - 9/13/2013, 4:33 PM
I say we base his performance on the shows he was in and never look any further.
hartley07 - 9/13/2013, 4:33 PM
so is it official that he's getting a movie in the man of steel universe after he's on the show? I've been out of the loop for a while.
Reasonnnn - 9/13/2013, 4:33 PM
hahahaha el mayiambe is right and WB has no balls for the big screen.
ALegendaryPanda - 9/13/2013, 4:33 PM
Not familiar with his work, but okay!
Indy - 9/13/2013, 4:34 PM
As long as he not in the Justice league movie than I don't care who he is.
Brainiac13 - 9/13/2013, 4:34 PM
Still yet to see Season one.
TheRationalNerd - 9/13/2013, 4:34 PM
. "I’ve been a lifelong fan of DC Comics, so I can’t be more honored and can’t wait to get started."

That's all I need to hear! Do your thing hommie!
soforizo - 9/13/2013, 4:35 PM
I don't know this kid, but hopefully he kills it.

I'm excited about having Flash back on tv, as well as the prospect of seeing more comic book heroes/villains on live-action on a weekly basis.
Isra - 9/13/2013, 4:36 PM
Wisely chosen.
AmazingFantasy - 9/13/2013, 4:36 PM
okay! I'm fine with this
SnapperCarr - 9/13/2013, 4:36 PM
You know what, I'm okay with this.

HAILHYDRA - 9/13/2013, 4:37 PM
LOLOLOLOL. One week ago everyone was so sure that Arrow was gonna be included in the same universe as MOS. Now they cast this boy band heart throb as Flash and everyone changes their tune. Someone owes me $500. I can't remember his name.
LEVITIKUZ - 9/13/2013, 4:37 PM
Who gives a [frick] about Quicksilver 69BallsDeep?

You talk like you hate DC but you always come into their articles. Got a hard on for DC? Maybe secretly you're balls deep into DC's ass.
