Deadline has revealed that David Morrissey has joined the cast of AMC's The Walking Dead as The Governor. He will be a series regular in the third season of the show which is expected to air later this year. Fans of the comic book will know that the character makes life very difficult for Rick Grimes and his fellow survivors, although it's unclear just how much the small screen adaptation of Robert Kirkman's series will delve into the source material. Fantastic choice - he's a great actor and I can't wait to see him bring this character to life.
MrRogers - 2/24/2012, 2:47 PM
***SPOILER*** does that mean Lori may get killed off?
LucasMend - 2/24/2012, 2:48 PM
Cool, he is awesome

Season 2 of TWD has been like watching the Star Wars prequels. You know it sucks and the next episode will be just as awful but you feel obligated to watch it anyway.
superbatspiderman - 2/24/2012, 2:57 PM
Hope this show picks up a little bit cuz it has been a little slow.

Season 3 has the potential to blow audiences minds, as long as they can keep the show as brutal as the source material. So far they've done well in that regard.

On a side note, I don't understand the hate for season 2. The farm setting opened up a lot of character develpoment, both good and bad(and some annoying), was full of some great zombie/human action, and a lot was built up in the first half; which is now paying off in the second half.
I think people are trying to see this show as something that it's not. Just like the comic, at its core, it is a character study with action sprinkled in (At least the way I experience both mediums). It's a survivor story with drama. What fun would a show be with cardboard characters?

I don't think that's a good comparison at all... imo
ManOfKrypton - 2/24/2012, 3:04 PM
Another Brit - Great casting!
ISleepNow - 2/24/2012, 3:05 PM
probably a better choice than Tom Savini
DividedIStand80 - 2/24/2012, 3:05 PM
its too soon to bring the Govna
Bandrews1 - 2/24/2012, 3:06 PM
Good to know, I'm liking how the show is quickly becoming darker, and next season might even take that up another level.
Dickel - 2/24/2012, 3:07 PM
Couldn't have put it better myself.
That last episode, I found myself debating whether to continue watching or go to the toilet... the toilet won.
AlexDeLarge87 - 2/24/2012, 3:19 PM
never see that coming but cool i guess. He is great actor.
fattieacid - 2/24/2012, 3:20 PM
So wait this means no prison in season 2?? :(
Jaspion - 2/24/2012, 3:38 PM
Good news... but first we need Tyrese and Michonne!
and Shane dead..
Lizardking310 - 2/24/2012, 3:46 PM
too soon their not even at the prison or any of the stuff that goes on there has passed .... lame
flash17 - 2/24/2012, 3:46 PM
I KNEW THEY WOULD CAST ANOTHER BRITISH ACTOR!!!!! However I was hoping they were going to get Sean Bean after he got killed in Game of Thrones... I have no clue who this guy is.
flash17 - 2/24/2012, 3:47 PM
They have said for months the Prison isn't until season 3.
DioFoRio - 2/24/2012, 4:00 PM
I agree with ya kittykisses....but I feel the last two episodes have been the best. We need to see more human confrontation imo, between some different groups of survivors. Cause these Mopey bitches on the farm have it too good. Stir some shit up
DioFoRio - 2/24/2012, 4:01 PM
maybe he's at the end of season 3 and the next season won't be as boring
LoudNoises - 2/24/2012, 4:04 PM
I disagree with people who say season 2 has sucked thus far. I think there has been a lot of great sequences. Great character development too. It's important to build the tension between the characters so when shit does hit the fan it actually carries weight. Like when zombie Sophia walks out of the barn in the midseason finale after they spent the entire half season looking for her and Rick has to shoot her. I don't care what anyone says, that was an epic finale. It can't be all zombies all the time.
DioFoRio - 2/24/2012, 4:06 PM
@Marsivonayr...I agree with your statement that the book is about character development as is the TV show...but in saying that . You can blow through a TPB of the walking dead in a half hour and feel satisfied. Where as with the t.v. show it's taking forever. In some cases it's also not acted out very well. But I do feel it's finally getting better

This could be a good choice, although I always envisioned Michael Wincott, with his "I just swallowed some hydrochloric acid" voice, as The Gov whenever I read the comic. Oh well, I've been not unsatisfied so far!
freakybatman - 2/24/2012, 4:49 PM
this is going to be epic

i dont know who he is but cool. THe 2nd half of this season has been really good. the 1st half was good as well but slow. most people bitched about it but i didn't mind.

[email protected]...Sheila Take a Sheila take a bow, Tryin to shoot the zombie behind youooo.
RyanLantern77 - 2/24/2012, 8:57 PM
booo terrible casting... this show is lost
Ryguy88 - 2/24/2012, 9:37 PM
The first 2 episodes of the 2nd half of season 2 have salvaged what has otherwise been an uneventful and somewhat boring season full of strange decisions and dialog by its characters.

I have never read the comics but a new character of this much apparent clout sounds like a good idea. I can only take the "this is my farm, my rules" crap for so long.
Ryguy88 - 2/24/2012, 9:59 PM
Don't get me wrong, I like the show and all but there are some pretty annoying and redundant elements to it like Dale somehow guessing that Shane killed Otis, the random people living at the farm who appear out of nowhere, Darryl going on and on about the "little girl," Grimes wife, what's her face, flipping her car after randomly deciding to 'help' the boys in town. That, and the all round way that the plot kinda moves along in a forced way which requires characters to do and say dumb things. I don't need more Zombies, just a better story like season 1, but things seem to be picking up after the season 2 break so I'll be tuning in every week til the end of the season.
SamHell - 2/24/2012, 10:01 PM
maybe more, NoRegrets
Nubase - 2/25/2012, 3:11 AM
i'm hooked on this show, l still have not read the comics but will do so shortly, the cast is amazing.
mithiama - 2/25/2012, 3:29 AM
this is insanely good...im really looking forward to the third season the transformation that rick and the group undergoes after the governor is pretty intense hopefully they stay true to the comics at least in regards to why the governor is such an important character and how rick and carl change after.
r8derfan4vr - 2/25/2012, 7:16 AM
Best series on TV PERIOD!!! I love the comic, something about the show makes the series a tad bit better. I like that the TV series story line took a left hand turn along the way. The show has become it's own beast and it's not a carbon copy of the comics story line. Andrea on the show is HOT!!!
theweaponx - 2/25/2012, 7:37 AM
season 2 sucked? your all idiots

last 3 episodes alone were better then the first season

CapemA - 2/25/2012, 7:49 AM
@ NoRegrets You hit the nail on the head. The title of the show is as much a reference to the living as it is to the "walkers". This is one of the best TV shows ever. I like the fact they are concerned with character development and it isn't just a gore fest. Oh, one more thing, I hope Shane gets killed off sooner than later.
StrangerX - 2/25/2012, 7:51 AM
ello govna
kevberg - 2/25/2012, 8:01 AM
govenor is the most cliched silly villain. i 'd rather keep Shane around than ..

a mad max wanna be that uses Walkers and Humans for stupid gladiatorial games. and he chops Ricks hand off...again..a bad decision.

zero character there and seen those types over and over..one of the only disappointing characters in the books.
