THE WALKING DEAD To Air Black And White Episodes Of Seasons One And Two In February

Last July AMC aired the pilot episode of The Walking Dead in black and white. Now, thanks to the positive feedback, it appears they will be airing all of seasons one and two in the same format starting in February.

As some of you may remember, AMC decided to try something different. That different thing they tried was to air the first episode of The Walking Dead in black and white instead of the normal color format. While this was unusual for a TV series it wasn't for fans of the comic series as most of the comics are all done with out color. The gamble seems to have paid off, and now you can expect to see all of season one as well as season two in the black and white format.

Series show runner Glen Mazzara re-tweeted a user who took a photo from The Walking Dead Magazine where the black and white format was announced. When the pilot was done it was meant to give the episode an old time Universal Monster look, as well as pay homage to the comic book.

Season Three is set to return this February as well. The series stars Andrew Lincon, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Lori Holden, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, David Morrissey, Chad L. Coleman, and is on Sunday's at 9P.M. on AMC.

great idea!

loose connection: Did anyone see Darabont's Black and White cut of The Mist? FANTASTIC and effective. never bothered with the color print.

Very cool, can't wait! However they should do as sin city and make the blood red.

@NorrinRaddical Yes the b&w version The Mist was so much better and creepy.

@TheGambitFreak I was about to say the same thing about the blood.

@TheGambitFreak Good idea but...that would be a whole lotta red.

I'm down with the Black and White

Damn I hope they release the B&W episodes digitally, I watch the show through my xbox, and cancelled my cable awhile ago since I watch most programming via hulu/netflix.

I liked the black and white first episode. I don't know if I'd want to watch them all that way though. Too much would ruin the special way the first one was presented in. I'm going to watch it for sure.

You know, u can just change your picture settings on the TV to black and white lol

that's true

but, to be fair, i do respect amc's somewhat bold decision to do the first episode in b&w..since they did not HAVE to do it.

but the thing is..if i wanna see a GREAT b&w zombie flick, i'd just go see the original Night of the Living Dead.
