Kevin Feige Ponders A Potential Third THOR Movie; Says THE DARK WORLD Ends A 'Sub-Trilogy'

Depending on the success of Thor: The Dark World, it seems we're likely get another solo outing with the God of Thunder. Surprised? Of course not, but Kevin Feige says nonspecific ideas already exist!

While Thor: The Dark World doesn't hit theaters worldwide for another two weeks, that hasn't stopped chatter from sprouting about a potential third installment which is expected of the Marvel brand. But as Chris Hemsworth believes another solo Thor adventure will see the Asgardian deal with Ragnarok, the Norse apocalypse, producer Kevin Feige confirms that ideas already exist.

"Thor's next adventure will be Age of Ultron," says Feige during a video live chat. "So, that's where all the Thor effort is going. But there are things you will see at the end of [The Dark World] that certainly hint towards and could lead towards a third Thor adventure if that’s what audiences want to see. We definitely have a story we’d like to tell." Speaking on the same possibility during a chat with Slash Film, Kevin Feige added "I don’t think [a Loki movie] would be before Thor 3 if there is a Thor 3 and while we certainly have ideas of where we would like that to go, there are no specifics. We have to see how this one does and then go from there."

When asked basically if this potential third installment would complete Thor's solo outings (a trilogy), Kevin Feige responded: "We don't build any of the movies to be a trilogies; we work on one movie at a time and really focus on making that the best film. And if it works and if people enjoy it, then we get to tell another story. But what's interesting about The Dark [World], is it kind of is a completion of a trilogy already if you look at the first Thor, Avengers and then The Dark [World] - particularly for the character Loki - you will see a very sort of cohesive arc for that character. So, we can sort of call it a sub-trilogy within the broader [Marvel Cinematic Universe]." Hopefully this means we'll finally see Hela and Surtur on screen. What do you think?

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. It opens in theaters November 8, 2013.

I would love to see Liam cast as Clor and have Thor fight his clone after some sort of story like Ultron created Clor using DNA remnants captured by SHIELD.
DioFoRio - 10/26/2013, 8:00 PM
good stuff DCMF ; )
TheRationalNerd - 10/26/2013, 8:01 PM
Ant-Man (2015)
Doctor Strange (2016)
Thor 3 (2016)
Black Panther (2017)
Captain America 3 (2017)
Avengers 3 (2018)

bbman182 - 10/26/2013, 8:02 PM
Surtur and Enchantress bitches
TheRationalNerd - 10/26/2013, 8:04 PM
I'd like to see Thor team up with Beta Ray Bill to take on Enchantress, Executioner and Surtur.

SuperCat - 10/26/2013, 8:07 PM
Yeah, Executioner and Enchantress please.
TheRationalNerd - 10/26/2013, 8:10 PM
bbman182 - 10/26/2013, 8:15 PM
If Beta Ray Bill didn't have one of the dumbest names in the Marvel Universe, I'd really want him in Thor 3.
TheRationalNerd - 10/26/2013, 8:17 PM

Lol! Well, I guess if we have "Rocket Raccoon" why not have "Beta Ray" when you read them both Beta Ray sounds miles better!
bbman182 - 10/26/2013, 8:19 PM
Good point.. but that damage is already done. I think Thor, Loki, Surtur, and Enchantress are plenty to carry a 3rd movie though.
thunderforce - 10/26/2013, 8:20 PM
More Marvel powerhouses please BRB so he can be in the Guardians of the Galaxy and Hercules bring it .
DCMarvelFreshman - 10/26/2013, 8:23 PM
@DioFoRio Thanks.

I would prefer a Thor movie that leaves out earth completely (yes, Jane Foster too). So much more interesting characters and elements in the other Realms.
bbman182 - 10/26/2013, 8:23 PM
doubt they are going to do the Greek God route...
ruadh - 10/26/2013, 8:28 PM you're saying there's a chance...? :)
MrReese - 10/26/2013, 8:29 PM
Still way 2 many Thor stories 2 be told.
beane2099 - 10/26/2013, 8:29 PM
I'd love to see Hercules or Ares show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Or in the comics universe. I miss Ares. As far as Surtur goes, I could get behind that so long as he isn't wearing the fire shorts.

On an unrelated note, how come Surtur and Dormammu have never teamed up? They're both fire dudes. That should work right? Ooh and then they could get Ghost Rider and the Human Torch and form a Fireshop Quartet.
TheLokey1 - 10/26/2013, 8:33 PM
@ mrhulk

Screw Clor, Liam for Balder the brave that would be awesome!
CharlesLord - 10/26/2013, 8:38 PM
i agree wit DCMF, id like a Thor movie to completely forget about Earth. Present something on Asgard/other realms that has his complete attention.
EpitomeofAwesome - 10/26/2013, 8:38 PM
I want to see Beta Ray bill, Surtur, Hella, and Balder
MalteseFalcon - 10/26/2013, 8:39 PM
Damn so it's go be

(2015) Ant Man
(2016) Dr. Strange
(2016) Captain America 3
(2017) Black Panther
(2017) Guardians of the galaxy 2
(2018) Avengers 3

Who Am I Missing?
camlabar - 10/26/2013, 8:40 PM
Days Of Future Past - Loki dies in the movie!
camlabar - 10/26/2013, 8:40 PM
Just kidding just kidding. Please dont kill me.
ATrueHero1987 - 10/26/2013, 8:52 PM
The next Thor movie should include HER:
BrowniesExplode - 10/26/2013, 8:54 PM
Can we get a Incredible Hulk sequel with the Leader and the Abomination first. Because hulk is the only one from phase 1 without a squeal in phase 2.
MightyZeus - 10/26/2013, 8:56 PM
More Thor movies please. Also have the focus away from Earth if possible.
CaptainObvious - 10/26/2013, 9:04 PM
I would like to see Beta Ray Bill.
bbman182 - 10/26/2013, 9:21 PM
@josh... you are right. I wish they'd cease comic book movies in general. Getting out of hand.
Jhuntdaprodigy - 10/26/2013, 9:31 PM
Definitely want to see Enchantress, Executioner, and Surtur in Thor 3. Alice Eve could play enchantress and someone like Gerard Butler could be executioner maybe. And as for phase 3, Ant-Man is confirmed and I'm sure Thor 3 and Cap 3 are a given. I still want to see Hulk 2, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange, but I'm sure no more than at least 2 of those three films will be made before Avengers 3.
bbman182 - 10/26/2013, 9:45 PM
What has Feige screwed up so far?
AGoodHonestMan - 10/26/2013, 9:54 PM
Thor 2 is gonna be awesome! I can't wait! Thor 3's pretty much a given, a Loki solo would be really intresting as well. But I hope even with all the Avengers stuff we get a Defenders movie soon. The roster would probably have to be altered a bit with Silver Surfer at Fox and Hulk as an Avenger. Maybe Strange, Namor, Ghost Rider, and Nova. I don't know, I just want to see them!
bbman182 - 10/26/2013, 9:59 PM
I enjoyed IM2... Thought Rourke made a good Russian.
TMcFarlaneFan - 10/26/2013, 9:59 PM
There's gotta be more comedy to be done with Thor. Dark World is a barrel of laughs. Maybe the best superhero/comedy since Batman Forever!!!!
Humby - 10/26/2013, 10:01 PM
Phase 3 will probably total 6 movies (including Avengers 3)

Antman - 2015
2 Films - 2016
2 Films - 2017
Avengers 3 - 2018

Thor and Captain America sequels are all but guaranteed. Which leaves 2 empty slots. One of them will be Doc Strange or Black Panther, one will be a Hulk sequel. My reasoning? I don't think Marvel will introduce 3 new franchises in phase 3. Sure, we could get another Iron Man or GOTG instead of the Hulk, but my money is on Hulk.
Humby - 10/26/2013, 10:03 PM
Or.... If Marvel really wanted to do something crazy, they would do a Hulk & Iron Man team up. THAT, my friends, would draw a crowd.
bbman182 - 10/26/2013, 10:15 PM
@grif Other than Iron Man 1, Thor has been my favorite solo movie Mr. Troll.
Humby - 10/26/2013, 10:21 PM
Thor 1 was alright. I give it a pass because it's a tough character to introduce, and although I'm not a fan of the direction they took it, it can stand on its own two feet. It certainly can't go toe to toe with Iron Man or Incredible Hulk, but it's miles ahead of Captain America and Iron Man 2.
SnapperCarr - 10/26/2013, 10:26 PM
Beta Ray Bill needs to show up.
bbman182 - 10/26/2013, 10:26 PM
Feel like the majority of the people on this site think its necessary to hate movies... honestly enjoyed all the marvel movies so far.. and the x-men movies.. and man of steel.. and even the fantastic four movies were decent. Life is too short to bitch about things not being perfect or the Mandarin not being identical to the comics.
TheWolverine08 - 10/26/2013, 10:32 PM
Well said BBman. We need more people with your kind of attitude on here.
SageMode - 10/26/2013, 10:42 PM
As long as Beta Ray Bill, and Surtur show up, that'll be enough for me.
