Preview THOR: THE DARK WORLD Prelude Comic Book

Preview THOR: THE DARK WORLD Prelude Comic Book

Marvel has revealed a single page from the prelude to Thor: The Dark World but it's full of interesting bits of information. Badoon, Troll Lords, Frost Giants and The Maruaders all sense a weakness in Asgardian rule.

With the death of Laufey and Loki's attack on their world, the Frost Giants are a broken people....And yet they sense something has happened.

The Troll Lords know it, as well. For so many millennia they have coveted the Dwarven forges. Once they realize that Asgard cannot come to King Eitri's defense, they will strike.

Despite their primitive nature, the Badoon feel our absence. Several of their clans have fallen into Civil War. Their savagery and bloodlust will eventually spread from planet to planet, unchallenged.

And the Maruaders amass near Vanaheim.

The comic book is set before the events of Thor: The Dark World and after Marvel's The Avengers and tells of unrest breaking out across the cosmos with the Asgardian Bifrost bridge destroyed after the events of the first Thor film. If you recall in The Avengers, Loki asks 'How much dark matter did the All-Father have to conjure to get you [to Earth]?" The way the exchange unfolds, it's implied by Loki that Odin used dark matter at great cost to himself. Interesting enough dark matter is mentioned again in previously revealed images of Malekith the Accursed and his Dark Elf followers who wield 'dark matter' guns. The trailer says Malekith's people come from the darkness so dark matter may play an important role in Thor: The Dark World.

AlexanderLykins - 6/3/2013, 11:29 AM
Does anyone think the Avengers will go cosmic at some point? I'm getting a terrible feeling this is all probably going to end up back at Earth.
Jollem - 6/3/2013, 11:32 AM
^i'd rather they not go cosmic. i get bored with that crap. like when the x-men in the comics got too intergalactic. loose interest quick
ThePowerCosmic - 6/3/2013, 11:33 AM
The Badoon! I hope they show up or are briefly seen in the film, since they most likelywill be in Guardians.
Digitaria51 - 6/3/2013, 11:39 AM

thebearjew - 6/3/2013, 2:03 PM

thebearjew - 6/3/2013, 2:04 PM
ArmoredAsgaurian they are to earthlings
NightForce - 6/3/2013, 2:06 PM
I'm still really excited for this movie. One major thing I hope is Thor needs to FLY a lot more. And he needs to be more powerful like he was in the first Thor not like he was in the Avengers.
Fonzieismypal - 6/3/2013, 2:46 PM
I'd love to think this could all tie in with Guardians at some point, but didn't all those casting calls for aliens living in "the future of a different dimension" rule out the Guardians presence in the MCU? Was that just a mislead a mistake or what?
marvel72 - 6/3/2013, 3:15 PM
can never win with some people, they piss & moan when a movie is set too much on earth & when they explore more of the cosmic side of marvel they want it to be set on earth.
AlexanderLykins - 6/3/2013, 3:56 PM
I want to see a little more of Thor flying. Not the hammer twirl but actual flight. I hope in the Avengers sequel we will actually see Thor flying and be able to keep up with Iron Man in the air.
Jollem - 6/3/2013, 3:56 PM
@ScionStorm - well, to me it kinda is, and always has been. there are some things i like
AlexanderLykins - 6/3/2013, 3:59 PM
No I never said I wanted to see it set mostly on Earth. So I hope you aren't referencing me. I want to see more of the cosmic side and I want the Avengers to be a part of that. I'm just not sure how they do it yet. I haven't read any of the comics where the Avengers are in space so I'm a little in the dark when it comes to that. This story is so much bigger than just Earth. So why would it only take place on Earth? That's my thinking.
AztecRainGod - 6/3/2013, 4:56 PM
The shit has Epic written all over it.
marvel72 - 6/3/2013, 5:02 PM
@ AlexanderLykins

kree & skrull war is a classic, that you must read also the avengers stuff that feature thanos are fantastic.
ScionStorm - 6/3/2013, 6:16 PM

ThePowerCosmic - 6/3/2013, 6:58 PM

Jollem - 6/3/2013, 9:01 PM
@ThePowerCosmic - that is no problem with me at all. i just want to thank you for being civil about it instead of pissing and moaning like a p.o.s.
Ace101 - 6/3/2013, 11:52 PM
Flipping epic! Cant wait to read this. HOWEVER! I can understand them making tie in comics for phase 1, just tie up all the loose ends, but why the need for prelude comics couldnt they incorporate it into the film, or a one shot, like turn this into a one shot and release it on the iron man 3 dvd/blu ray set.

Oh and the badoon wasnt expecting them at all! Could be s tie in to the gotg. Trools, Eitri, much win XD
siggisuperman - 6/4/2013, 2:54 AM
Badoon ? Holy dickballs
EpitomeofAwesome - 6/5/2013, 9:15 PM
