Tom Hiddleston Talks THOR: THE DARK WORLD And What Fans Should Expect

Briefly commenting on director Alan Taylor's vision, and essentially what to expect from Marvel's anticipated sequel, Thor: The Dark World, check out a Q&A chat with Tom Hiddleston

Dubbed the “world's hottest actor” in this year's Total Film Hotlist Awards, actor Tom Hiddleston recently sat down for a Q&A with the UK magazine. And while offering an acceptance video, which can be seen here, Hiddleston also briefly commented on his anticipated reprisal as Loki in Marvel's Thor: The Dark World.

“I don't want to give too much away. But I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed. Alan Taylor's vision of Thor 2 is utterly brilliant. The journey continues in the most epic dimension and proportion imaginable. It's very, very exciting.”

“The best thing about being Loki is that he is my diametric opposite. Physically, he is a photo negative of who I am. Loki is dark and pale, and I am light and fair. Also spiritually I am not much like him either. Yet I feel an incredible freedom in playing him.”

“He is a combination of mercurial intellectual ability, emotional ambiguity, rakish charm, charisma and provocative wit. He has a wicked inclination to mischief, underneath which is a well of spiritual pain. Both these aspects are central to his depth as a character: his unashamed and perverse delight in creating chaos; and his capacity for raw emotional expression.”

“And – as my American friends tell me – he's kind of a badass! He's one of the richest, most rewarding, most fun characters I've ever played.”

“Underneath the steely cold veneer of his trickster charm is a certain vulnerability and sensitivity – the wounded fragility of an outcast brother and son. His mind IS a box of cats though! But I love him.”

Exploring Thor's relationship with the Asgardian all-father Odin, as well earthbound companion Jane Foster, “Thor: The Dark World” follows the God of Thunder to The Nine Realms beyond Asgard and earth. And as his evil half-brother, Loki, returns for Asgardian justice, a new threat rises. Also rejoining Thor are his fellow Asgardians, Lady Sif, gatekeeper Heimdall and Warriors Three, as they encounter mythical Norse creatures among evildoers.

“Thor: The Dark World” stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Jaimie Alexander, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Stellan Skarsgard and Ray Stevenson. And Alan Taylor (“Game of Thrones”) takes over directorial duties from Kenneth Branagh, who helmed the first “Thor” film. With a screenplay by Don Payne & Robert Rodat, “Thor: The Dark World” hits November 8, 2013.

"The journey continues in the most epic dimension and proportion imaginable."

If he was taking The Avengers into account when he said that then this movie will be very good.
DrDoom - 8/5/2012, 7:12 PM
One of the best comic villain performances continued in spectacular fashion?

Want want want!

Hoping Enchantress shows up at some point to wreck havoc with her best bud.
InFamouslyCool - 8/5/2012, 7:12 PM

ATrueHero1987 - 8/5/2012, 7:18 PM
expect more and great cbms in the future...especially from Marvel! We already know what we're in store for 2013 & 2014....who knows what 2015 & 2016 awaits for us!
StormLoganSummers - 8/5/2012, 7:19 PM
Oh, Loki. The things you do to my man parts.

But, seriously, with regards to Taylor's "less CGI" approach, I hope they keep the Asgard we saw in Thor CGI-based for the sequel as I thought it was stunning.
LoudNoises - 8/5/2012, 7:22 PM
I hope Alan Taylor kills this! It's a toss up between this and MOS for me next summer.
GodzillaKart - 8/5/2012, 7:22 PM
Looking forward to it.
JoeMomma29 - 8/5/2012, 7:23 PM
LOL really Intruder that is your reasoning on Loki winning in the badass category!!

xXkryptoniteXx - 8/5/2012, 7:24 PM
Yup his a great actor and marvel has done right hiring the director for the first Thor, on getting Tom cast as Loki. I hope there are more dynamic scenes of Loki in Thor 2, just like in the avengers but I doubt it since theres a new baddie in the mix. Thor 2 is going to be epic. Man of steel and Thor 2 well go head on and it well be another great year for comic book movies once again.
Anthrax - 8/5/2012, 7:26 PM
princess diaries chick LOL
AztecRainGod - 8/5/2012, 7:26 PM

I thought we were going to hear more about the movie. Instead, Loki spends a few paragraphs giving himself head..??

No matter, this movie is going to rock !
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/5/2012, 7:27 PM
Loki is going to be in it again??? God I am sick of his character.
dancingmonkey08 - 8/5/2012, 7:29 PM
And so begins the millions of Tom Hiddleston interviews for Thor 2. And we just calmed him down after the Avengers lol

Im kidding, love to hear Tom talking about Loki, he has such a great love for Loki and everything else comic book related. Plus everything he said about the Avengers was true so its not like he is bullshiting in interviews..well most of the time lol

I hope there is a helluva lot more adventure spaced evenly over ALL the 9 realms in this movie!

Thor 2 is my second most anticipated movie after Iron Man 3 next year! then MOS and Wolverine!
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/5/2012, 7:31 PM
You only mention Hulk but you forget to mention Agent Coulson, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man. Still loved the movie but damn.
SageMode - 8/5/2012, 7:31 PM

Bane or BINO?
riseofloganX36 - 8/5/2012, 7:32 PM
Im really hateing the title, why not the mighty thor or thor 2? What dose that even mean?!?!? it's not even a thor comic book title. Oh well im shure the movie will be good just hateing the title.

Dynamo - 8/5/2012, 7:33 PM
As much as I love Loki, I do feel the fun of the Avengers is watching him getting his ass kicked. I'd definitely say Bane is more intimidating. I just don't think his ending was satisfying. But both work great in the context of their movies.
Bodwulf - 8/5/2012, 7:33 PM
Hey, not Loki's fault. Hulks are big!
Four hulks
Bigger than Bino
The "In Name Onlys"
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/5/2012, 7:34 PM
Hopefully The Mighty Thor will be the title for the third film.
Ucantpruvdemmykids - 8/5/2012, 7:34 PM
My gawd! I'm straight and even I would have thrown some panties at Hiddleston for those mack lines!

I love you Hiddleston! the most hetero, manliest, straight way I can possibly say.

But behind closed door, I'm your beyotch.
JoeMomma29 - 8/5/2012, 7:35 PM
Loki is weak and I hope he is not the villain in this sequel!
Dynamo - 8/5/2012, 7:35 PM
BINO? Wtf? Bane definitely has more in common with his comic book character than just his name...
