Movie Web has gotten an exclusive sit-down chat with actor Tyrese Gybson, where he speaks on the possibility of producer Steven Spielberg taking over the Michael Bay-directed franchise, after Transformers: Dark Of The Moon.

"If Michael Bay decides to come back for Transfomers 4, I'll be there. We'll make it happen. (Right now), I think we are all exhausted with the process. If this movie does what we are all assuming it's going to do, then, I think its time to revisit this conversation. When it's time. There are no concepts, no direction, no nothing for Transfomers 4, because everyone has been so focused on Transformers: Dark of the Moon. But here is the safety net. Are you ready for this? Michael Bay decides to not come back for Transfomers 4. There is always Steven Spielberg! I am not saying that Steven Spielberg is for a fact going to direct Transfomers 4. But it is a beautiful safety net to know that one of the biggest, most respected directors in the world happens to be an executive producer on Transformers. He is someone who knows this world. And he could easily step in and direct Transfomers 4 if he decided to. The thing is, there are a lot of directors who deal with producers who happen to not be Steven Spielberg. So if the director decides to bow out of their film, they are sent scrambling. "Who can we get to direct this?" What a hell of a safety net this is if Michael Bay decides not to come back. Steven Spielberg could easily step in and make it happen."

Transformers: Dark of the Moon arrives in theaters June 29th, 2011 and stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Julie White, Kevin Dunn, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Alan Tudyk, John Malkovich. The film is directed by Michael Bay.

Good replacement for Bay, but am I the only one who thinks Spielberg has sort of lost his move magic (if you get what I mean).
GETjiggy - 6/16/2011, 4:05 PM

Cool but I like what Bay did with Transformers, and he was born to do it even Steven Spielberg said it on the early interviews of the 1st Transformers. Action + Explosion + Cars what directors were set for it at that time??? Couldnt think of anyone else but Micheal Bay. He got the military backing him up in most of all his movies, what else do you want??? Its transformers.

Just Hope the latest one does well and its better then the 2nd one. What am I saying I know it well be better then revenge of the fallen, it well be a true sequal.

Stay away from my beloved Transformers Steven!!! Michael Bay has already made two piles of crap with a third on the way. Please reboot this in two years and place it in the hands of someone who isnt going to add "the human character we relate" to in it. F that, I wanna see robots on cybertron and in space. No humans!

When it comes to the Transformers series, I think it shows how spoiled we (meaning YOU) have become. Transformers is a riduclous concept to take from toys and cartoons and turn into a live-action film. Films like Mario Bros, DragonBallz, StreetFighter, GiJoe, Masters of the Universe, BloodRayne, Resident Evil, Aoen Flux, UltraViolet and many more, are pure and utter shit. Cheap, forgettable, low-budget, shit.

We're lucky to even get Transformers films on this level, even TRANSFORMERS2 and that stupid Terminatrix robot bich. They are still high quality films for a property that was nearly impossible to translate. But he did it, Micheal Bay brought Transformers to life to the highest degree it could be. Could you imagine it being done on the cheap, on the quick and small? No one would have put this much into the films. Now, when and if it's rebooted, they have no choice but to go big. It HAS TO BE an improvement over the Bay films. He did good. And he booted Megan Fox on her stupid head. Awesome.

Sweet, I always thought they didn't need a total reboot but definitely a new director and less EXPLOSIONS..ZERO BEEF..and UNICRON!!!
kingmonkeyman - 6/16/2011, 9:36 PM
Transformers 4 should be a live action version of the original animated movie. Or anything with Cybertron or the octopus robots with the different heads. They creeped me out all the time. Rollll out
Opt1mu5Pr1m4l - 6/17/2011, 4:51 AM
Speilberg directing sounds awesome. He would bring Transformers to a whole new level and have no doubt that he would top Michael Bay, but I have to say Bay did kick serious ass doing transformers. Come on steve bring on unicron. You know you want to.
Tin - 6/17/2011, 5:39 AM
Well, since he's no God but a human, it is possible... Or is he a God? Sounds like everybody here thinks so. I'd say, overrated
PaulRom - 6/17/2011, 6:02 AM
@Mbomb it actually was, it just got knocked down by other frontpage stuff.
I think they should just end it with DOTM, then wait a few years before rebooting.
Yorel - 6/17/2011, 6:51 AM
The further away from Transformers Spielberg is the better, after all he was the one to tell Bay and the writers (Kurtzman & Orci) that the core of the story should be about "A boy and his Car", which quite frankly is a load a crap.
ninjinturdle - 9/23/2011, 12:18 PM
A Transformers film should be given to people who can still make good movies today, not some ancient has-been and the idiot who made Pearl Harbor. Transformers has been around a long time and needs to be put in the hands of a visionary director(like Nolan with the Batman) who can handle a story with that much potential. Since the story requires explosive action, better off giving it to John Woo than a guy who blows stuf up alot.
