Batwoman has officially been ordered to series at the CW, and the network has debuted a first-look promo and banner to accompany the announcement.

The teaser is brief, but it does give us a new look at Kate Kate (Ruby Rose) suited-up as Gotham's new protector, and we also get a glimpse of the show's official logo right at the end.


With this series order, Batwoman becomes the first live-action scripted drama to focus on a lesbian superhero played by an out lead actress. Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) penned the script and will serve as showrunner, while Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns will exec produce along with Greg Berlanti.

Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene and Nancy Drew have also received orders.

Batwoman doesn't have a premiere date just yet. The show will also star Dougray Scott, Elizabeth Anweis, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Nicole Kang and Rachel Skarsten.

@NinnesMBC - Going to be great. Considering how much people complain about Supergirl using major superman villains, hope they stay away from the classic batman villains, at least for the first few seasons, instead go with more modern ones like Lady Shiva, Bane, Hush, the Court Of Owls, Mr.Bloom. Also if they introduce more heroes stay away from Robins and Barbara Gordon, go with Cassandra Cain, Batwing and Azrael

@Ayush - I doubt it, although I think it could lead to a good season long plot at some point, if they use Hush as a big bad, they can have him pose as Bruce Wayne, and have the arc of the season be Kate discovering it, and proving that its not Bruce. They can advertise it as Bruce wayne, mess with the audience

Nice. I wonder if this is a mid-season premiere that comes out after the Crisis or a full season one that comes out
in the fall?

Actually looking forward to this. If it lasts it's going to follow the Supergirl route and start using more and more
of the Batman franchise.

@WarnerBrother - For the first few seasons hope they stick with more modern villains, Bane, Hush, Court Of Owls, Mister Bloom, pretty much anyone created by Peter J Tomasi, James Tynion and Scott Snyder,

@dracula - Very true. Usually it just takes getting used to. I didn't really like any of the Flash characters in the pilot but they quickly grew on me.
