Imogen Poots Talks NEED FOR SPEED

Imgoen Poots (Centurion, Filth) discusses co-starring with Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) in director Scott Waugh's (Acts of Valor) adaptation of the racing video game, Need for Speed.

Imogen Poots Need for Speed movie

Imogen Poots on Need For Speed.
"”It’s a pretty crazy movie, based on a video game called Need for Speed. It’s essentially, a race across the States, they only have 48 hrs to get from New York to California but a lot of obstacles show their faces. It was a great film to make in a sense because the director used to be a stunt man and so he very much directed the film from that point of view and that perspective. So all of the stunts are authentic and real, there’s no cgi. Working with Aaron [Paul] was great. We worked together before on a Nick Hornby film/adaptation called A Long Way Down so we’re kind of already close by that point because when you’re in a car with someone for a really long time, you kind of have to get along. So it was cool, it was terrific, I got to see a lot of the States.”

On how Need for Speed will distinguish itself from other racing genre movies.
"Certainly the stunt perspective, if you’re into that kind of thing. It’s throwback and it’s real. But also, there’s a real story at the core of it. There’s a lot of action taking place and the fun of making a film like that is that it’s kind of tongue-in-cheek. If you’re taking yourself too seriously in the making of it then it kind of feels like you’re going down the wrong path. You have to have some fun because the fact that I’m in a film called Need for Speed is fundamentally ludicrous [laughs]. So it was cool, I was happy to to be a part of it.”

On her character in the film.
"It’s very much the duo [of her character and Aaron Paul's] who are traveling together. The director really wanted there to be a conflict between the two characters initially. It’s fun exploring that kind of relationship in a very confined environment like a [Ford] Mustang. But it was great fun.”

First Trailer For Aaron Paul Led NEED FOR SPEED

Framed for a crime he didn’t commit, muscle car mechanic and street racer Tobey (Aaron Paul) gets out of prison determined to settle the score with the man responsible for his false conviction. Tobey tears up the road in a gritty cross-country journey— one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption. DreamWorks Pictures’ “Need for Speed” is directed by Scott Waugh (“Act of Valor”), and also stars Dominic Cooper, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, Imogen Poots, Dakota Johnson and Scott Mescudi.

She's so beautiful and incredibly talented.
Love her!

She's hot and she can act, but that middle and last name...

...Imogen Gay Poots... always makes me chuckle a bit inside when I see it.

Considering even celebs with non-funny real names change them, I wonder why she didn't.

I'm giggling imagining her name being spoken on a trailer for a big movie...Juvenile, I know.

Hate the game, not the player.

Imogen Poots is very beautiful. I don't think this looks too bad. And hearing that NFS has no CGI is a big plus.

She's British and her last name means nothing to us here in the UK.
Namor - 12/13/2013, 6:35 AM
ya, there is some wierd names with the british. Take Olivia Wilde for instance. Her real name is Olivia Jane I kid you not. Smart choice, changing that one How about everyones fave ex sheriff, Andrew Lincoln? His name was Andrew James Clutterbuck before changing it to Lincoln. Another good choice! But Olivia has em all beat with

Marcia Gay Harden never changed her name and that hasn't affected her career.
She won an Oscar!

(Gay-Harden .... Gay-Hard-on)

This does not need to be a movie
Humperdink - 12/13/2013, 7:02 AM

Yes, I know 'Poots' doesn't mean the same thing where she hails from, it's been pointed out quite a bit actually.

She's becoming more of a 'name' over here in the States though, and that's another story.

Even though there will be a little silly giggling when Ms. 'Gay Poots' name is first thrown at us, the more prominent and common she becomes in Hollywood, the less funny the name will inevitably be.
Namor - 12/13/2013, 7:47 AM
Still, Poots is nothing when compared to Olivia Wildes real name of Olivia Thats unbelievable!

When I first heard about her, I thought her last name was unusual, but I'm used to it. It's not a big deal to me now.

However, the word "pianist" always gives me a good chuckle lol.

@Gusto Really? You go on about how much you like GTA, but you have never played a NFS game before???

This game was all the rage when the F&F movies were becoming more and more popular.
LAXtremest - 12/13/2013, 9:55 PM
I went to an early screening of this a few months back. It's not very good.
nowtheresaBATman - 12/13/2013, 11:22 PM
Imogen has the sexiest mouth in Hollywood.

Gusto's joking. Either that or his alzheimers has kicked in. Boots 2 asses & aluminum cans you'll get the clap just from shaking his hand!

Never heard of her, but if I were her agent, I'd suggest a name change.
