Live Action MINECRAFT: THE MOVIE Is In The Works

Don't act surprised, it was going to happen sooner or later! Markus Persson's smash hit, Minecraft, is on its way to the big screen courtesy of Warner Bros. and The LEGO Movie producers Roy Lee and Jill Messick. Read on for more.

The smash hit indie game Minecraft is coming to the big screen! Warner Bros. today announced that they will be overseeing the production of the film adaptation of the 16 bit wonder. According to Deadline The Lego Movie's Roy Lee and Jill Messick will be producing the film.

Last month a Kickstarter founded fan film based on the game was pulled by the creators, now evidently due to WB's involvement. The game recently became the third most successful PC game, passing 100 million registered users.

For anyone unfamiliar with the game, Minecraft is an open world/sandbox game made entirely from 16 bit blocks. The player has complete control over how they shape the word, building or destroying. What so you think? Will a LIVE ACTION Minecraft film work? Or will it fall off the wayside like all other video game/film adaptations? Sign off your thoughts below?
